00:00Will you receive or defer?
00:02I will receive.
00:03All right, Gator.
00:04Here we go, man.
00:05You sound confident.
00:06I like that.
00:07Saturday, who's more likely to win, Indiana over Ohio State or Army over Notre Dame?
00:14Let me start by saying the question again says more likely.
00:19It doesn't say will.
00:20It says more likely.
00:21So I will make the case for Indiana.
00:23Nobody leaves.
00:24They can, but their defense is legit.
00:27People don't like their schedule.
00:28Fair enough, but they've blown everybody out, basically, because they didn't blow out
00:32Michigan, but they beat Michigan and their defense was strong in that game as well.
00:38If they can stop the run against Ohio State, which is a monster if, but it's something,
00:43it's Indiana's calling card.
00:44They've been able to stop the run.
00:46If they can't and then just pin their ears back and go after the quarterback, I get that
00:51Ohio State's got these great receivers, but I'm not sold on the quarterback being great.
00:55They can get some pressure on there.
00:56They can make things interesting.
00:57But again, Ohio State has not blown everybody out.
00:59There've been times and they've definitely struggled with teams this year.
01:03I like Indiana as a team.
01:04I'm not saying they're going to win, but I think they can keep this thing close and keep
01:07themselves in the college football playoff.
01:09Okay.
01:10I would agree.
01:11If you look at Ohio State, they've had some injuries up front.
01:13They lost their starting left tackle, put a backup in.
01:16They lost him.
01:17They bumped their left guard out to left tackle and they've had mixed reviews, maybe playing
01:22a little bit better of late.
01:24And then a rumor started that they lost their starting center to a torn Achilles in practice
01:28this week.
01:29Now it's being reported that that is indeed the fact.
01:32Indiana's got the leading guy who leads the Big Ten in sacks and TFLs in Mikhail Kamara.
01:38And C.J. West was one of the most, but defensive lineman for them was one of the most impressive
01:41players I've seen in person this year.
01:43Plus, IU can score.
01:44I think Indiana makes this a game and yes, I think they can win it.
01:47Yeah, I'll definitely take Indiana over Ohio State.
01:50I think Notre Dame had that one hiccup earlier in the year, but they've been pretty much
01:54rolling ever since.
01:56You just mentioned it, Doug.
01:57Ohio State's offensive line's down two starters and the backup to one of the starters might
02:01be out this week as well.
02:03That starting center being out, the left tackle being out, Indiana's got really outstanding
02:08defense.
02:09Kamara, I expect him to be in the backfield all day.
02:12They can stop the run.
02:13They can get to the quarterback.
02:14I think Indiana's got a decent shot at this.
02:17All right, college football standings.
02:21They came out last night.
02:23Of the four first-round on-campus matchups, which would you most want to go?
02:28Okay, so what I love about this is all four of them are in the Midwest.
02:32This is the kind of thing that we've dreamt about is teams from down South having to come
02:36up and play in the Midwest.
02:38Alabama would be at Notre Dame, Georgia would be at Penn State, and Ole Miss would be at
02:43Indiana.
02:44The other game would be BYU at Ohio State.
02:46Out of all those games, I think the game and the trip and everything involved that I would
02:51most want to be at is Georgia at Penn State.
02:54First of all, I love the stadium.
02:56The campus tailgating is great.
02:58I think the game is fascinating because I actually think Georgia is low-key the best
03:02team in the country.
03:03And I think that given their schedule, and I would now pick them to win it all.
03:07The James Franklin factor is always like, is Penn State going to punt on second down
03:13and one?
03:14You never know what James Franklin might do.
03:15So I think I would go to Georgia at Penn State.
03:18I love all the matchups the way they are on paper.
03:21It's great.
03:22But to me, there's only one game that's really worthy of wanting everybody to go to.
03:27Alabama at Notre Dame.
03:29I mean, if you love college football, this is the matchup for history's sake, right?
03:34These two massive programs facing off in South Bend would be absolutely fantastic.
03:41That being said, otherwise, I think the Ole Miss at Indiana would be great too because
03:46of the SEC Big Ten.
03:47I love to see the SEC Big Ten matchups.
03:49But overall, I think it's Bama at Notre Dame.
03:52I've got Georgia-Penn State as well, Doug.
03:54I think this felt like it could have been the national title game at some point, right?
03:57And I know Penn State ended up losing earlier.
03:59But this is a great, great matchup.
04:02It's got a Big Ten school, so kind of, if you want to say local interest here, you got
04:07the SEC because it just means more out there.
04:09But that's the game I would choose.
04:10And by the way, Doug, this is the reason, one of the many reasons why college football
04:14rankings things like this come out so early, so people can talk about it and build up hype
04:18and things like that.
04:19That's why they do it, man.
04:20All right.
04:21Deion Sanders quoted on ESPN, I'm not going anywhere.
04:27Do you believe him?
04:28Well, look, if you were to go back on his word, he wouldn't be the first guy to do it.
04:33But unless he can be guaranteed to coach his son, I think he stays true to his word.
04:38Getting a success this year, they've doubled the win total already over last year.
04:42And only he knows what lies behind Shadour and Travis when they move on to the NFL.
04:49If he if he feels confident that the guys he's got coming down the pipe are going to
04:52be good players, then I think he stays because he's got more to accomplish by by far.
04:58He's got more to accomplish in the conference that they're in.
05:01They can win that at some point if he continues with the recruiting.
05:05I think he is going to stay.
05:06Yeah, they can win it this year.
05:08You mean he's guaranteed to coach his son at the NFL level?
05:11Yeah.
05:12Shiloh, I don't know if Shiloh's coming back.
05:14Shadour's already committed to the East West Shrine game and said, I'm not registering
05:17for classes next semester.
05:19So he's gone.
05:20I hope he stays.
05:21And I love his quote.
05:22I put my kickstand down, which is that's one of the things that makes Deion so great is
05:26what a what a cool quote.
05:28He's good for college football.
05:31I want to believe him.
05:34But I don't.
05:35Oh, I think he's gone.
05:37I don't know if he stays or not.
05:38But do I believe a statement of I'm not going anywhere?
05:41No.
05:42Have you guys watched college football or seen the college football landscape recently?
05:45And this is no disrespect to Deion.
05:47If the Pope or the Dalai Lama were the head coach of a college football team, I wouldn't
05:51believe them either.
05:52This is where we're at.
05:53And this is one of the reasons why I get so upset and annoyed by head coaches that are
05:57mad their players are leaving the transfer portal.
05:59You guys bail all the time.
06:01You guys get paid the big dollars, the big money.
06:03This is just part of where college football is.
06:06It's basically professional sports.
06:07Let me just say this, though.
06:09Because college football has turned into this without a doubt.
06:12You need a salesman to be your head coach right now.
06:15And is there any better salesman than Deion Sanders?
06:20To get the donors to donate, to get the NIL money for his players?
06:24I think he's perfect for college football.
06:26Yeah, and he could still leave.
06:27He could.
06:28Sharon Moore and Jonathan Smith, they're in the first seasons.
06:32But realistically, guys, they're probably not in any trouble of losing their jobs.
06:36What Big Ten head coach do you think may be let go at the end of the season?
06:39OK, I mentioned earlier that coaches aren't going to get fired as quickly as they used
06:42to, with schools needing to come up with that right now reported limit of $20 million in
06:47NIL to pay student athletes.
06:48So you have to look at the buyouts and where they are in their contracts.
06:51It's going to be guys near the end of the contracts where the buyouts are less.
06:55I think Mike Loxley of Maryland, one in five in the Big Ten in year six, and he has one
06:59of the smaller buyouts in the Big Ten.
07:01So if I had to predict the guy, I would go him.
07:04Ryan Walters at Purdue might be in trouble with a one in nine record, but he's only in
07:08his second season.
07:09I know that I think they won four games last year, but he's like 38 years old.
07:15And I think that there's promise there with it, with a younger guy being the head coach.
07:19I think it's way too soon to cut somebody after just two seasons, even if this is a
07:23bad season.
07:24But they've had some circumstances there.
07:26I'm kind of with you.
07:27I'm not sure anybody gets a Ziggy this year in the Big Ten.
07:29I just I don't know if this is the year that you decide to cut coaches.
07:33If Ryan Day loses to Michigan this year, he will get fired immediately after the game.
07:38But other than that, I think I'm going to go out on a limb a little bit here.
07:42I'm going to go.
07:43I'm going to go Lincoln Riley.
07:44All right.
07:45Just because a couple of years ago, they were in the talks of like winning the national
07:48title.
07:49And what has he done since then?
07:50I feel like and I think we all feel like USC should be a lot better than what they are.
07:54It makes no sense why they aren't better.
07:56They have the alumni, they have, you know, the brand and nice location, all that stuff.
08:01They should be better.
08:03But other than me throwing Lincoln Riley out there, I'm not sure anyone gets fired either.
08:11All right.
08:11Last year, Matt Rule was five and three in his first year with the Cornhuskers and Nebraska
08:15end up losing their final four games to miss a bowl.
08:18This year, they start out five and one and have lost four straight.
08:21The last two games, Wisconsin and at Iowa.
08:24Can the Cornhuskers ever turn this thing around under Matt Rule?
08:28Yes, because they have the quarterback.
08:30Royall is going to be the reason he's going to stick around there and he's the reason
08:34why they'll hit the portal hard and bring in some quality players.
08:38I'm not sure they're going to contend anytime soon, but turning things around, getting it
08:42to be a winning program.
08:43I think that's absolutely in the cards and it's right around the corner for Nebraska.
08:46I hope so, because I like it when Nebraska is good and it's a great trip.
08:50Anybody who's been out there and they got a ton of tradition, but when they left the
08:53old Big 12, I don't think they anticipated that they were cutting off a lifeline of recruiting
08:58to the state of Texas.
09:00They used to kill it in Texas and they're not quite getting as many players out of Texas
09:04as they used to.
09:05And in the old Big 12, they played at Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and that's all
09:10been jumbled now.
09:11But I think they inadvertently cut off a recruiting pipeline when they left the Big 12.
09:15It's hurt them and it's made it so much harder.
09:18I don't know if they're ever going to win the way they used to because I don't know
09:20what the recruiting base is anymore.
09:22I think they can turn the corner under Matt Rule.
09:24I've been a Matt Rule guy since he got there.
09:26And earlier this year, I didn't think they started off hot, but I didn't think it was
09:29going to last because they need Rayola to get the experience.
09:33And I do think they have the right quarterback.
09:34As soon as Rayola gets over this cosplay of Mahomes that he's going through right now
09:38and just actually focuses on playing football instead of just looking like Mahomes, I think
09:42they'll be fine.
09:43All right, the D2 playoffs start this weekend.
09:50Ferris State is a one seed.
09:52Grand Valley is a two seed.
09:54Pick a sleeper and give us an interesting fact about that sleeper.
09:57Okay, so we got into the D2 brackets here a little bit and had some fun.
10:02I'm going to go with Miles University, the four seed down South.
10:06It's right between Phillip Tech and Robert College.
10:10I've never heard of Miles University.
10:12Is it named after one guy?
10:14Don't know.
10:15But they're the Golden Bears.
10:17They're coached by former Bengal and Redskins, Sam Shade.
10:21They're historically black college in Fairfield, Alabama.
10:24And according to their official stats on their website, one of the players for their
10:29team that through 40 passes this year is number 12.
10:33That's how it's listed in their official stats.
10:36So go Golden Bears of miles.
10:38Look, I may just be going with chalk here, but how do you go against Harding?
10:42Honestly, defending national champions, they lost only once this season.
10:47They averaged like 400 yards on the ground.
10:49They absolutely control the game.
10:51They lead the nation in points per game at 52 points allowed at eight point six.
10:57This team is built for cold weather to the built to slog it out.
11:00It's championship football.
11:01It's what they do, even though they're from Searcy, Arkansas, the Bison are ready to take
11:06care of Pittsburgh State this weekend and show that the repeat is coming.
11:11It's D2 guys.
11:12They're all sleepers.
11:13But since you're forcing me to pick somebody, I'm going to go with Carson Newman.
11:18Here's the fun fact that you may not know.
11:20Did you know they are actually called the car and Newman, but everyone thinks it's Carson
11:24Newman.
11:25And so they just went with it.
11:27Carson Newman.
11:28Nice.
11:29Well played.
11:30Carson Anderson.
11:31We'll keep our eyes on the D2 playoffs, although deep down, go Bulldogs, go Lakers.
11:38Yeah.
11:39Yeah.
11:40Got some dynasties here in our state.
11:41And that concludes the college football blitz thing.
