00:00Borongan City residents are used to the typhoons so they are not aware of the preparations being made by the local government for the calamity.

00:08But their mindsets are slowly changing when it comes to preparation against the disasters.

00:14The details of the national news is brought to you by Rachel Almaden of PIA Eastern Visayas.

00:21Although Borongan City residents are changing in the Eastern Summer,

00:25they chose to obey the local government's order to evacuate if a typhoon is coming.

00:31According to Ricardo Vena, when the Borongay announced that a typhoon is coming,

00:35he did not hesitate to bring his family to the evacuation center.

00:40Our Borongay captain allowed us to go to the evacuation center before the typhoon came.

00:50When we arrived at the evacuation center, the city government gave us relief.

00:57After that, the city government continued to give us relief.

01:06Jake Brandon Lorenzo Agda, OIC City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer of Borongan,

01:14said that in order to avoid casualties, the pre-emptive evacuation is being done immediately, especially for high-risk Borongay residents.

01:21Members of our community, if there is a typhoon, during a typhoon, you are not allowed to go out.

01:31We are avoiding casualties related to typhoons.

01:35If the pre-emptive evacuation is being done immediately,

01:41we will have time to go out and avoid the typhoon.

01:46If there is a typhoon, we will have time to go out and avoid the typhoon.

01:52According to Severina Amoyo, City Social Welfare and Development Officer,

01:57the coordination of all government agencies is a big help.

02:01We invited stakeholders to remind us of our respective responsibilities,

02:10and of course involving and informing the barangays.
