00:00John Chris, congratulations on the show. I've got to say, after the success of Spider-Man,
00:06some of which was shared, of course, I'm guessing you guys were feeling an awful lot of calls.
00:11I imagine it's quite a simple decision to pick up the phone to the Star Wars lot.
00:16We actually pitched this idea before the first Spider-Man came out, and I was just busy making
00:25those films, and as soon as they were done, we got to start on this. So it's been brewing
00:29for a long time.
00:30Oh wow, it must be really gratifying then to have an idea like that, that goes back
00:34all that time and you're able to bring it into fruition after that amount of time.
00:37Yeah, it started as a film, and over the course of the many years when I was making the Spider-Man
00:43films, that's when Disney Plus was created and The Mandalorian came out, and it allowed
00:47us to shift from it being a film to being a show and give us a bigger canvas to explore.
00:52A lot of actors wait their entire career praying for a call from Star Wars. You guys are knocking
00:58it right out of the park. Do you get that sense of how amazing, how privileged it is
01:04to be able to do that and be involved in that?
01:06Oh, it's such an honour. It was a lot of pressure though, being the ones carrying on this legacy.
01:11It was a lot of pressure making sure it was done right, but I think we executed it pretty
01:15well, and I'm very proud of the work we've done. It is such an honour.
01:19I am so excited to be here. It's crazy how everything's coming alive, and I'm glad I
01:25get to do it with her.
01:26Yeah, this has been the best experience ever, and I'm working with my favourite people.
01:31As Star Wars fans, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you're big Star
01:35Wars fans, how important was it for you, how significant was it for you to pitch this in
01:40touching distance of the original plot and those original characters?
01:47We wanted it to feel like a smooth transition, as if the show was made right after they finished
01:52making Return of the Jedi. So a lot of the design decisions and everything, and the style
01:57of the film, we tried to match and have it feel like it's all one big story.
02:03We don't seem to get, I mean I might be wrong here, but just from my perspective, we don't
02:06seem to get as many of those kind of Anglin-y movies. I guess the Shazam movies kind of
02:12touched it a little bit. Why do you think that is, and is it something that you guys
02:16want to really spearhead, these kind of family movies that have a bit of cheek and fun and
02:23play to them?
02:25Yeah, I'm not sure. I love those films.
02:27Well, it turns out they're hard to do.
02:30Yeah, there's a lot of challenges involved, so getting the mix just right is tricky.
02:36And talking about spearheading, this project is spearheaded by one of our most beloved
02:41actors, that is Jude Law. How much fun did you guys have in the sandbox with that guy?
02:47It's great. He's like, he's as big of a Star Wars fan as we are, so he just, he stepped
02:53right into it. It felt like he's always been in Star Wars, and we've just brought him back.
02:57He's just like, not only is he like the best actor, he's also the best person to be around.
03:03Any day on set with Jude Law was a good day.
03:06He was like our mentor and like our set father, and he taught us so much, and yeah, just lessons
03:11every day, and it's such an honour to be working with such like an incredible and talented
03:15actor, and it was really inspiring.
03:18And let's imagine, finally, for one second, this show was made within kind of touching
03:23distance after Return of the Jedi of those original movies. You're in a kind of similar
03:27time as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, etc. If you guys could bring in a character from either
03:34one of those shows, or one of those films.
03:36Han Solo!
03:37Luke Skywalker, easily. Such iconic characters.
03:41Han Solo is just really funny, and he's a good pilot, and he's a good blaster holder,
03:44you know, so I think he'd be perfect for the group.
03:46Everyone.
03:47Everyone, yeah, anyone.
03:48Can we have everyone?
03:49Yeah, just a big group of everyone.
03:51You should have Grogu, definitely.
03:52Oh, yes.
