00:21Mel, the Secret Service of the United States believes that the Philippines will still be important for their country in the future.
00:37At the headquarters of the AFP Western Command in Palawan,
00:40U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Defense Secretary Gilbert Chedoro visited.
00:46They inspected the new T-12 Unmanned Surface Vessel or USV bought by the Philippines to America.
00:53It's like a drone being prepared not for the air but for the sea.
00:58All of this will help our operational commanders to increase their technological capacity
01:07because the battle will increase our intelligence and our safety.
01:18T-12, as you know, a fundamental part of that is the ability to command and control that using cyber capabilities.
01:28We have to protect those capabilities.
01:30We have to ensure that also that as we acquire more of these systems
01:37During the last visit of Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in July,
01:41the United States announced half a billion dollars in military aid for the Philippines.
01:47And while the Trump administration is about to enter the United States,
01:51what else can the Philippines expect from our allies, especially in defending the territory in the West Philippine Sea?
02:00I won't speculate on any changes in policy or anything that the new administration may bring on board.
02:10What I will tell you is that this is an important country,
02:13not only to me but to people in both parties back in the United States of America.
02:18We consider you to be more than just allies. We're family.
02:22And I cannot imagine a day when the United States of America and the Philippines aren't closely aligned.
02:33Mel, from the Philippines, another country in our region is the next to be visited by Secretary Austin
02:39as he will continue to show the importance of America to the security of the Indo-Pacific region.
