Transcript
00:00When you first meet Justin Pearson, he might come off just a tad off-putting.
00:06He can sour a mood in a matter of words.
00:09He always seemed to me like someone who was ahead of the curve.
00:13I just like, I just like fucking with people.
00:16Southern California is divided into three regions.
00:19You got L.A., then you got Orange County, and then you got San Diego.
00:22But in San Diego, there was nowhere to go.
00:24There was nothing that was being offered to younger people.
00:28Hi, I'm John Waters, and now you're going to hear the music of The Locust.
00:37The thing is, it wasn't about the music.
00:39That was just kind of like this sort of vessel to just be like, fuck you to you and fuck you to you.
00:44He like went on tour when he was like 15.
00:46It wasn't that you question it, you just get fired when you go on tour.
00:53And you come back and do the same thing again.
00:55We were showing up and getting beaten up.
00:57We've had everything thrown at us.
00:59Beer bottles, maced, barstools, getting our tires slashed, pints of full beer.
01:04It's incredibly foreign and weirder than hell, and shocking to a lot of people
01:09who will say, that's not hardcore, and I'm like, bullshit, they're playing faster than you.
01:15But it all kind of tied into this whole middle finger to music culture.
