00:00If you're gonna start a mission, make sure it starts with Jay.
00:03Here's a look at brand new Haya Toys G.I. Joe Exquisite Mini Lady Jay.
00:30A master of blending in wherever she goes, Lady Jay doesn't just disguise herself as her subject.
00:35She becomes her subject.
00:37She mimics body language, quirks in dialect, and even the subtle gestures that mark each person like a fingerprint.
00:43She speaks countless languages with a perfect accent,
00:45enabling her to go undercover in any region around the globe and spy on Cobra operations.
00:50This brand new Lady Jay figure stands at 102 millimeters tall and features 17 points of articulation.
00:55Faithfully recreating original design from G.I. Joe,
00:58from basic olive drab work outfit to tactical belt, tactical backpack, and other accessories.
01:04Even the 118 scale, no detail is spared.
01:07Some exquisite detail in the guise of 118 scale.
01:10Just before, of course, we get a closer look at the new G.I. Joe Exquisite Mini Lady Jay from G.I. Joe,
01:15I'd like to thank, if I can, the folks over at Haya Toys that kindly provided this sample.
01:19I'm gonna, of course, also grab the tape measure, and in a second,
01:21I'll also bring in some of the other G.I. Joe Exquisite Minis we've already had a look at.
01:24Tape measure, though, right now is telling us that the figure of Lady Jay stands at 4 inches in height,
01:29where the figure is gonna be about 9 and a half centimeters tall.
01:32And as for those other Joes, what we have right now, at least, is Beachhead.
01:36We've been kind of outnumbered right now by Cobras.
01:39Of course, looking at the ones we've already had a look at,
01:41here's what the figure looks like with Cobra Commander.
01:43Here's what she also looks like as well with Destro.
01:45And off to the other side, not these switched sides,
01:47but here's what the figure also looks like with Firefly.
01:51Some amendments after the reviews of things I'd wanted to talk about as well.
01:54When we looked at, say, Beachhead, for example,
01:56I said he had a knife on the side that wasn't unsheathable,
01:59and sure enough, it was after the review.
02:01I was kind of playing around with it a little bit more,
02:02and yes, the knife is something I can remove on the side of his leg.
02:07Other things I certainly also wanted to mention as well,
02:09if I get Beachhead just to stand here for a second,
02:11bringing in the backpack that he also came included with,
02:14I did say, though, that there looked to be like a little indentation right here
02:17that looked like it should have housed something.
02:19Sure enough, though, if you have yourself the crossbow,
02:21there's a slot right there.
02:22It's almost really hard to see.
02:24And the more time that I spent after the review
02:26looking and identifying that section,
02:28I noticed, though, that it fit perfectly the handle,
02:31and you can just actually take the handle of the crossbow,
02:34and you can fit inside like that.
02:36So there's some storage space for the crossbow.
02:38The other thing I did also want to mention as well with Firefly,
02:41Firefly had, of course, the drone on the top,
02:43but he then also had a remote control,
02:45and I couldn't find a place for that.
02:46Sure enough, it's nowhere near on the front of the bag,
02:49but if you look at the back of the bag,
02:50there's an indentation right here,
02:52something I didn't spot right away, but I spotted after.
02:55In fact, you can take yourself the remote control.
02:57It sits inside that, and it sits pretty well.
03:00You may have to, in fact, get yourself a little screwdriver
03:02to fish that back out, but yeah,
03:03there's storage spaces available on some of the accessories
03:06that came with the earlier looked at G.I. Joe figures.
03:08Stop talking about the accessories that came included with the other Joes,
03:11and start talking instead about the accessories
03:12that come included with Lady J.
03:13How about things first?
03:15We look at the display stand.
03:16I think, in fact, this is the same display stand
03:18that both Firefly and Destro had.
03:20Same type of terrain, and also attached the exact same way as well.
03:23If you look at the bottom of the base,
03:25covering already, I know, this territory,
03:27there's slots on the side.
03:28Yes, there's slots here as well.
03:29You can get yourself these eye brackets,
03:31and you put them in, and basically,
03:33if you have yourself multiple display stands,
03:34I don't really have them right now available.
03:36Do I? Do I? Maybe I do.
03:37Let's just grab one of them off to the side here.
03:38I just actually had them over here.
03:40Grabbing another one of the ones that came included with one of the Joes,
03:43we're just going to attach the two together.
03:46And that eye bracket, I mean,
03:47you really don't even need more than one.
03:49One is just enough.
03:50You can see, it keeps the terrain together.
03:52Nice way of displaying the figures.
03:54And if you alternate as well the pegs,
03:56if having one up here and then having one down here,
03:58it doesn't look like they're literally standing next to each other.
04:01Just like the idea that Haya keeps continuing to do this.
04:03And it's not just exclusive to Joes, either.
04:05No.
04:06They've done that, in fact, with other exquisite minis as well.
04:09Looking at the other accessories that come included with Lady J,
04:12we'll just put the other eye bracket over there.
04:14The figure, first of all, comes included with a backpack.
04:16The backpack's rather interesting,
04:17because it does have itself like a little search spotlight.
04:20There's a hinge right here,
04:22so this allows the neck to move up and down.
04:24So if you wanted to have it a little bit more closer to the backpack,
04:26you can also pull that off as well.
04:28This hinges up.
04:29And then there's a hinge right here,
04:31so you can move this back and forth.
04:32And in fact, there's also a hinge up at the top.
04:36It gets a little loose, unfortunately, here, though.
04:38The pin, I'm not sure if there's a way to go in there and tighten that.
04:41You can see, though,
04:42they've done a nice job of giving an aged look to the backpack.
04:45Looks like it's got some pockets,
04:47a larger pack down below here as well,
04:49and a stripe of silver along the top.
04:51This also looks like something,
04:52with the way that the handle's designed here,
04:54that she'd be able to carry this around.
04:56Maybe, in fact, she could actually put it down in
04:58maybe an area that's slightly darker,
05:00and it'd be able to illuminate the area around her.
05:03Of course, you could take this.
05:04There's a peg, after all, there.
05:06If you look on the back of the figure's body,
05:07right around the bandolier,
05:09there's a hole here, and there's a hole here on her torso.
05:12You have to line up both of them together, obviously.
05:15Once you get that in place,
05:16just take, then, the peg,
05:19and you just want to twist it onto her back.
05:23As you're doing this, of course,
05:24you're probably going to have to twist it back and forth,
05:26but there you go.
05:27That's what the backpack looks on the back of Lady J.
05:29It's not, though, quite the same color as the rest of her outfit.
05:32I think it probably could have worked a little bit better
05:34instead of actually using green
05:35had they used a different color instead,
05:37but it's still, though, a nice-looking little backpack.
05:39You'll notice, also, here on the side,
05:40that she does have a peg here and a peg here.
05:42That's because she also comes included with another accessory.
05:45I don't know how well she's actually going to stand with the backpack.
05:48You know what? We'll try. We'll give it a try.
05:50In fact, actually, you know what?
05:51This whole time talking about it earlier,
05:53I got myself a display stand.
05:54Let's just take Lady J.
05:55She does have the pegs on the bottoms of her feet.
05:58Attach it onto the display stand, just like that.
06:04Did I get it all the way on there?
06:05I think I did. I think I did.
06:07There we go.
06:08Just get her to stand for a second that way.
06:10I know she's not going to fall over.
06:12She does come included with this spear,
06:14and the vintage G.I. Joe Lady J did also have this spear.
06:17I mean, really, every iteration of Lady J
06:19always comes included with something like this,
06:21a little harpoon spear that she throws.
06:23Would it be a baton?
06:25I don't think it would be a baton.
06:26The original toy would have had something very similar to this,
06:29but this would have all been one piece.
06:31So the original vintage Lady J, for example,
06:33would have had a handle.
06:34So it wouldn't just have been the case
06:35that she would have been holding it like this.
06:37She would have held it by use of a handle.
06:40Some of the later-released Lady Js of smaller size,
06:43and even a larger classified series,
06:44have also done this as well.
06:46She gets this gun that, for all intents and purposes,
06:48would probably fire the harpoon out.
06:51Basically just take that and slides it in place.
06:53So if you want to, she could either have...
06:55You can either have her display holding it like this,
06:58or you can have her display holding it like this.
07:01If you choose to have it this way,
07:02or, yeah, I guess even if you don't want to have it
07:04displayed that way,
07:05maybe you might be able to spot already
07:06that there's holes on the sides.
07:08Those holes, going back to what we talked about earlier,
07:11on the back of her backpack, there's those pegs.
07:13You can just take yourself the gun end of it
07:16and just attach this in place.
07:18So she's got some storage space there as well.
07:20And really, too, because also this...
07:22We already looked at this.
07:23You could store really all...
07:24For all intents and purposes,
07:25you could display all the accessories
07:26on the back of her body that way as well.
07:29Take this off.
07:30Actually, you know what?
07:31In fact, we'll remove the backpack, too.
07:34There we go.
07:35And let's also take this off.
07:37Now, this does fit into her hands,
07:38so already what you can do,
07:39because she does have gripping hands,
07:41you can take the spear, slide it into her hand.
07:44The hand actually has pretty soft plastic
07:46for the fingers.
07:47So I've noticed, though,
07:48she has a harder time to hold
07:49some of the things like this.
07:51Now, she does also have alternate hands as well
07:53that has a slightly smaller grip.
07:55You might find it's actually
07:56the better hands for the job.
07:58But just because, again,
07:59I'm using these hands for right now,
08:00we're going to swap the hands out in a second.
08:03Just want to get them in there
08:04just to give you at least the idea
08:05of what the hands would do
08:06if you want to have her holding a spear.
08:08So you're obviously doing it like that.
08:10Or what you can also do, too,
08:12is you can take yourself the gun.
08:13Now, the problem with the gun
08:15is if you're looking at the way
08:16the handle's designed,
08:17it's going to already be a hard thing
08:19for her hands to get around this.
08:21You kind of have to slide the handle down here
08:24and wrap the thumb around.
08:26It holds okay, but half the time,
08:28it usually just ends up falling out of her hand.
08:30It was actually easier for me, I found,
08:32if you take this handle
08:34and you take this hand.
08:36Doesn't have to necessarily be this hand, either.
08:38You could easily swap it around.
08:40Take the handle in that way first,
08:42then just bend the elbows,
08:45get the hand in on the other side.
08:49This may take a little bit of moving things around,
08:51but essentially, you can have it
08:53where this hand's doing more of the job
08:54of holding the handles,
08:56and then you just sort of have to get
08:58the other hand kind of wrapped around the handle like that.
09:00It's obviously not the easiest thing to do.
09:02You could also put the hand
09:03a little further back, as well,
09:05and she can hold it that way.
09:06Of course, then you can take yourself the harpoon.
09:08Are we calling it a harpoon?
09:10Are we calling it a spear?
09:11Anyways, we'll just slide that in place.
09:13So Lady Jane, in essence,
09:14could hold the gun that way, as well.
09:17The other thing that the figure
09:19does also come included with,
09:20and I know I had already mentioned this,
09:22is that she does also have some swappable hands.
09:24Ideally, these would be the better hands to use
09:26if you want to have her
09:27just holding the harpoon as it is.
09:29The hands themselves,
09:30it's just a case of wiggling hands
09:32off the provided posts.
09:34There we go.
09:36I do actually like, also,
09:37that they made the pegs a green color,
09:39just so it has an easier time for your eyes, at least,
09:41especially if you've got old man eyes like myself.
09:43It makes things a little bit more easier
09:45than to see where you're going with this.
09:47Again, we're just going to twist the hand onto the peg.
09:50Such small hands.
09:52Such small hands, he says.
09:55I might not even be able to get this on right now, but...
09:58You know what?
09:59Let's put the other hand back in.
10:00I know that the other hand belongs there.
10:02We'll swap, maybe, then the hand out
10:04a little bit later at the end of this review.
10:06The other thing that she also has, as well,
10:08is a knife.
10:09Now, learning already from my experiences with Beachhead,
10:12the knife is something
10:13that can go on the figure's body.
10:15It doesn't come with the figure
10:16when you get her out of the packaging,
10:17where you have to then be surprised
10:18that something is removable on her.
10:20In fact, if you look at her belt
10:22and spin this around,
10:24she's got a sheath.
10:25Actually, you don't even have to spin it around that far.
10:26She's got a sheath right here.
10:28Here is where the biggest problem lies
10:30when it comes to Lady J.
10:31It's taking this knife and getting into this sheath.
10:35You have to kind of get it around.
10:37Well, let's just move her arm up just a little bit.
10:39And it's...
10:41I can't even say, like,
10:42would there be an easier way to have done this?
10:44I suppose you could have maybe put the sheath here
10:47rather than up in her belt.
10:49You could also as well slide the belt down, too.
10:51The problem that is going to now be caused by this
10:54is with the handle so close to her torso.
10:56As you're wiggling the torso back and forth,
10:58you're going to find that it's coupling against the handle.
11:00I myself would have just preferred
11:02to have the knife left off altogether.
11:04But there's the option available there if you want to.
11:07Let's just go ahead and take the knife out for right now.
11:10Put it off to the side.
11:11Now, getting a closer look at Lady J.
11:14If you're familiar with the vintage toy,
11:16then you may recognize her appearance here.
11:18She is sporting a cap.
11:19No alternate head is provided here for J.
11:22The hat is obviously not removable,
11:24but it's got some decent sculpting to the hat itself.
11:27You can see there's the star with the swoosh just behind that.
11:31Nicely colored in a very dark blue.
11:33The face is well painted.
11:34It doesn't quite 100% match the coloring of the top of her neck.
11:38It's a little bit lighter.
11:39It's sort of like she has spray tan here
11:41and she has spray tan here.
11:42And maybe she had been wearing a necklace
11:44or something covering that part of her neck
11:46because it's the only part that's a little bit more bare.
11:48Still, though, the details aren't lost on me.
11:50I love the way they sculpted and painted the hair.
11:52It's generally quite clean
11:53considering that this is such a small piece after all.
11:56Other than really a fact that she doesn't look much like the cartoon
11:59just because she's wearing the hats,
12:00the rest of the body is very much cartoon Lady J.
12:03They have added a few extra darker greens
12:05that wouldn't have already been there.
12:07They've also added knee caps
12:08that wouldn't have been there either
12:09and even shin guards there as well.
12:11Figure all in all is really nicely done.
12:14When it comes to the construction, though, of the figure,
12:16and we'll talk more about that
12:17obviously when we get to the figure's posability,
12:19I couldn't help but notice, though, with mine
12:21that the arm was a little loose on this side.
12:23This arm isn't so bad at all.
12:25This one I did notice taking out of the packaging
12:27is a little on the loosier side.
12:29I wonder if there's a way to actually take this off.
12:32I'm not going to do it right now
12:34just for the risk that that could break potentially a peg.
12:37I'm wondering if I can maybe remove the arm
12:39and maybe see if I can add something to the joints
12:41just to make this a little bit tighter.
12:43Speaking, though, of joints,
12:44the figure's articulation is the following.
12:46Lady J's head will rotate all the way around.
12:49You can have the head looking down and up
12:51and back and forth, but only just a little bit.
12:54The upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
12:56The bandolier does flop around a little bit.
12:58You could really take this off also, too.
13:00It's not necessarily dedicated to anything on her body.
13:03I mean, if you want to leave it off,
13:04leave it off if you want to.
13:05I'm just going to leave it on myself.
13:07The belt is also, again, a looser piece as well.
13:09Upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
13:11The lower abdomen also seems to be on a ball joint.
13:13The arms for her rotate all the way around.
13:16You can hinge them out at 90 degrees.
13:18The figure does have, already mentioned,
13:20a swivel at the top of the sleeve.
13:23Would that be the top of the sleeve?
13:24The part of the sleeve that's rolled up.
13:25I guess that would be the top of the sleeve.
13:27No, I guess with the top of the sleeve,
13:28it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
13:30Swivel here, though, where the sleeve is,
13:32there's also a single hinge in the elbow
13:34and the arms rotate back and forth.
13:36Just, well, it's a little harder to kind of do that.
13:38Hands rotate also all the way around.
13:40Whether you use these hands or you try your best
13:42to get the other hands in place.
13:43Legs split out.
13:45You can, of course, drop the legs down as well.
13:47There's a swivel about three quarters of the way up the thigh
13:50that allows the leg to rotate all the way around.
13:52A double hinge, though, is also on Lady J.
13:54She does have a hinge on the ankle
13:56and you can also rock it back and forth.
13:58I know we've already looked at this as well.
13:59I'll mention it again.
14:00The figure does have peggles on the bottoms of her feet.
14:03Lady J looks good,
14:04other than maybe just the conflict I have.
14:07I don't even want to say it's a conflict.
14:09Even though I had a bit of an issue with the looser arm.
14:12That's something I'm sure I could probably go in there and fix.
14:14I like the look of Lady J.
14:15If you like the more look to the vintage Lady J,
14:18obviously worth her sporting the hat with that, you know,
14:20because in the cartoon she normally would have not had the hat.
14:22It's a nice looking Lady J.
14:24Of course, bringing in Beachhead right now.
14:27Since at the time of doing this video as well,
14:30Haya has, if they haven't already, released a Flint.
14:32They're also releasing a Stalker
14:34and I've also got eyes honing in on their Baroness.
14:37That Baroness is looking fantastic.
14:38Of course, why not?
14:39We can also bring in some of the Cobras as well.
14:41We can share the space together just before we wrap up this review.
14:44Firefly.
14:45There's Cobra Commander.
14:46How about maybe have Destro switch sides?
14:48Put him over here as well.
14:49The thing I really like about the Joe line so far
14:52is that there's tons of stuff going into them.
14:54I mean, lots of different accessories,
14:56some of which, of course, also throwbacks to the original toy.
14:59So she has like the harpoon spear
15:01and she also has like the equivalent of what would be the gun that kind of like,
15:04because in the original toy,
15:05this basically would have all been the same molded silver
15:07as the spear or harpoon itself.
15:09This, what they've done instead,
15:10as most G.I. Joe releases of Lady J have been in recent memories,
15:14they usually end up having them as separate pieces.
15:16I like that they included it.
15:17It's a little harder just with the way they've designed the handle here
15:19to fit around her hand,
15:20but as you saw in this review,
15:21if you just have her holding it on this side,
15:23then you can get the other hand wrapped around
15:25and then this hand's going to be doing more of the work.
15:27Lady J looks good.
15:28I like also the backpack too.
15:29That's also a really nice touch.
15:31I probably would have maybe done a different color than the green
15:33just because again, like she's got so much green already on her,
15:35but yeah, yeah.
15:37Big fan of Lady J in the cartoon.
15:38Big fan of this Lady J from Haya Toys as well.
15:41Other than leaving the knife off
15:42because I found it was more cumbersome than anything else,
15:45as you can probably see here in final looks of Lady J,
15:47everything else can be displayed with the figure,
15:49whether it be in her hands like the harpoon spear
15:52or all the other accessories attached onto the backpack.
15:55The pack is one thing I do really like about the character.
15:57The fact that it has a swing out search spotlight like that.
16:00It also looks like there's a handle on the top of it.
16:02So if she doesn't want to have it on her back,
16:04it looks like she'd have the means to maybe carry it around with her
16:07to illuminate the areas for the Joes.
16:09The backpack though, being a different color of green,
16:11probably does work in the end a little bit better
16:13than having it the exact same green.
16:15The original vintage version of Lady J
16:17didn't in fact have a green backpack
16:19and I think it also matched the same color as her uniform.
16:21So giving it a different color is a nice way to break up
16:24a little bit of the green
16:25that she already has so much of it on her body.
16:27Now this is based more on the original vintage Lady J
16:29where she does have the ball cap
16:31as opposed to just her regular hair.
16:33If you are one that likes more
16:35the look of the original 80's figure of Lady J,
16:37then you're probably going to be more interested
16:39in the look of this one
16:40rather than one that's inspired by the cartoons.
16:42It would have been fun if they could have released
16:44a second version of Lady J without the ball cap
16:47but because again, this character is based on
16:49more of the original Hasbro release of her,
16:51I can understand why they went this direction as well.
16:53Some of the changes are made by Haya Toys
16:55but not to the extreme I feel of Beach Head.
16:57Beach Head still looked a lot like Beach Head.
16:59I think Lady J looks the most like her original vintage toy.
