Transcript
00:00Just an incredible landscape to be a part of. Underneath the castle and then Edinburgh
00:17which is obviously the best city in the world to have a Christmas market. In East Princes
00:22Street Gardens we've got some brilliant stalls across the mound and up here in East and then
00:28down in Lower East as well we've got some down there with some interactive lights and
00:32illuminations which will be a lot of fun while you're walking around the gardens. And then
00:38tomorrow we've also got in West Princes Street Gardens the Family Fun Fair which opens which
00:43is going to be exciting. There's a few for different ages, younger ages, older ages across
00:47there. And then next week we've got an ice drink opening on Friday. Santa the big red
00:53dude is over back in St. Andrew's Square alongside a Christmas tree maze from the Saturday and then
00:59the following week we have an incredible brand new ice bar, polar ice bar where you can go and
01:04have a cocktail in a glass made of ice. And then after that you can go into the Coorie Inn which
01:10is to warm yourself up again after. There's no city like Edinburgh right. It's the landscape,
01:15the buildings, the architecture. You know when you're ice skating it's a clear span top so you
01:20can see out to the Georgian architecture on George Street which is you know it's like no other place
01:26on earth. And then over here you've got the big wheel as soon as you come out the train station
01:29if you're not from around here you can you can see it and the same with the star flyer. Where
01:33else do you get to fly so close to the Scott Monument? It's absolutely amazing. And then of course we've got our EH
01:39postcode discount so if you are from Edinburgh and the surrounding EHs you can come in and get 20%
01:45off attractions and tickets and things like that so I think people really feel like it's their Christmas.
01:51Well I was just reflecting it's 25 years ago since we had the first ever German Christmas market as it was then 25 years ago in 1999 and you know in that time as you say it's become so popular not just the market but the whole Edinburgh business type thing. But it's important also that we strive to you know look to improve the offering every year, make it more sustainable, make sure that community groups
02:15have access to tickets, there's lots of recycling of elements that are going to be happening and yeah community groups as well are going to benefit and charities are going to benefit as well. It's important that charities are going to benefit as well directly from you know contributions from the community.
02:31Our Christmas festival will be Small Business Saturday that happens on the first Saturday of December so again you can do that shopping locally or do that by shopping with some of our local businesses who are part of the German market as well so yes it matters a lot. And again let's think sustainably as well about our Christmas gifts too and support our local suppliers and travel people as well.
