00:00It looked as though T.J. Miller and Ryan Reynolds were totally on the outs,
00:04but at least one half of the former Deadpool duo seems to have high hopes for a reunion.
00:10Miller, who plays Deadpool's bartender buddy Weasel, was notably absent from the third Deadpool
00:15movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, and there were a few key reasons for that. First, in December 2017,
00:20a woman accused Miller of sexually assaulting her in college. Miller denied the claims,
00:25and his role in Deadpool 2 remained, despite the controversy. Then in April 2018,
00:30the month before the movie's release, Miller was arrested on charges of calling in a false
00:34bomb threat. Those charges were later dropped in 2021, but not before Deadpool himself, Reynolds,
00:40declared that Miller wouldn't be appearing in the eventually scrapped X-Force movie.
00:44Reynolds otherwise remained tight-lipped about Miller and his personal woes. After that,
00:49Miller voiced quite a bit of displeasure with Reynolds, building a fairly one-sided feud.
00:54For instance, in an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show in 2022,
00:57Miller said his former co-star went too far with his on-set ribbing.
01:01Though Reynolds was speaking in character as Deadpool, Miller said he took one jab personally.
01:06He was like, you know what's great about you, Weasel, you're not the star. But you just,
01:10you know, you do just enough exposition that it's funny, and then we can leave and get back
01:14to the real movie. Miller also said he believed that Reynolds was insecure, and that he didn't
01:19foresee the two ever working together again. So, by that point, it seemed clear that any
01:24further partnership between Miller and Reynolds was simply not going to happen.
01:28But Miller has now opened the door back up to it in a truly surprising interview on the Sirius
01:33XM radio show, The Bonfire. Entertainment Weekly quoted him as saying in the November 12,
01:382024 interview,
01:40We talked a little while ago. I think he's just been such a good friend right now that I think
01:44it would be really — I think returning for Deadpool 4 would be awesome."
01:48Now, whether this could happen is, of course, going to depend on several factors. First,
01:53Entertainment Weekly notes that Deadpool 4 hasn't yet been announced. Though it is pretty safe to
01:58assume that, considering the box office success of Deadpool and Wolverine, another installment
02:02is pretty likely. The bigger question is whether Reynolds, who, again, has remained mostly silent
02:08about the state of his working relationship with Miller, would bring Weasel back into the fold.
02:12The only source we really have to go on is Miller, who surely would love to be part of the
02:16follow-up to the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. The interview on The Bonfire isn't
02:21the first time Miller has indicated that the ice between he and Reynolds has at least started to
02:26break a bit, though. In October 2022, he appeared on The Jim Norton and Sam Roberts Show and said
02:31that Reynolds had apologized to him for his on-set comments in an email.
02:36And it was a misunderstanding.
02:39But then again, as recently as April 2024, Miller was once again seemingly talking trash
02:44about Reynolds. He went on The Help with Natalie Cuomo podcast and heavily implied
02:48that the success of the first Deadpool movie had changed his former co-star's attitude.
02:54People get really famous, and then things get really weird.
02:57So could Deadpool and Weasel appear on screen together again? Well, anything is possible.
03:02After all, Hugh Jackman said he'd never play Wolverine again, and look where that got him.
03:06But until we hear something from Reynolds about whether Miller can make a return,
03:11it seems like T.J. Miller will just keep having a conversation with himself.
