Dutch Criminal Record round off a special year with a special gig in Chichester.
Transcript
00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers, lovely to
00:05speak again to Joe Frampton of the band Dutch Criminal Record. And now, what a year you've
00:11had for two reasons. You've brought out your debut album at long last, some might say,
00:16and now you are preparing for a very special gig in Chichester. Let's talk about the gig
00:21first. Where is it? What's it all about?
00:26So on the 5th December, Thursday the 5th December, at La Havana in Chichester, we're doing a
00:31show for Chichester Food Bank. So essentially it's a free but ticketed event and we're just
00:38asking anyone who comes to bring as much in the way of donations as they can, which will
00:43all be going to the food bank. We'll be putting up a list on social medias that can also probably
00:48be found on their website of things they're looking for in particular, usually canned
00:52food, etc. And, you know, it'll be a lot of fun. Free music, free live music and all
00:58for a good cause. So people need to get the tickets first. Where do they get the tickets?
01:05Absolutely. So they're actually not live yet, but they will be up within a few days on the
01:11Dutch Criminal Record website, which is just dutchcriminalrecord.com, or it can be found
01:16on all our social medias. So we're just on every social media. There's not often anything
01:21under the name of Dutch Criminal Records. So if you type that in, you should be, I hope,
01:26the first.
01:29This gig itself has become a bit of tradition, but this year is a little more special to say
01:33because you've had the album and you're saying so interestingly that you kind of feel
01:37differently about yourselves as a band and the public feel differently about you as a
01:41band. Now you've got that album out. Why has that made a difference, do you think?
01:47I couldn't exactly tell you why, but for some reason, everyone just seems to be taking us
01:52more seriously now we've got an album out. I think, you know, you're seen as a proper
01:58product now once you've got that kind of body of work out in the world. And yeah, we've
02:04been getting a lot more interest. It was actually released by an American label, which I
02:08think for some reason gives you more clout, transatlantic, whatever. So yeah, it's a
02:14we're kind of it feels like a new band after 10, 11 years just because we've got an album
02:18out.
02:18Fantastic. And the album is a nice nod to Chichester. It's called Nothium, isn't it?
02:23Of course. Yeah. Well, we all grew up here. We met here. We might be slightly ashamed to
02:29say we love Chichester. So yeah. So it was a proper homage to Chichester, really.
02:37Fantastic. And possibly a second album year after next, maybe?
02:42Ah, yes, that's the big question. I think 2026, the follow up album will come out and
02:48that will probably be dedicated to the Witterings or something like that. And and
02:52yeah, who knows? Who knows?
02:54Fantastic. Well, congratulations on the album and good luck with the gig. Great to
02:58speak to you, Joe. Thank you.
03:00Thank you so much, Phil.
