Ben Banks discusses why there are positives to be found early in the Neil Critchley era at Hearts.
Transcript
00:00Lots to be positive about.
00:01I think there's Neil Critchley's style is very clear to see.
00:05I think Cami Devlin again noted that in the press conference
00:07of it feels very clear what the players are doing on the park.
00:11And it's very clear to me sort of sitting there as a onlooker
00:15on hearts about what they're trying to do.
00:17It's possession-based football, playing out from the back,
00:21trying to get down the sides and trying
00:22to get in behind the opposition.
00:24And it's good to watch, but you need a clinical edge
00:28to really bring it all together.
00:30At the minute, they're getting to within the box area,
00:33and then they're just needing to take that next step.
00:36Some of that comes with Lauren Shanklin coming back to form.
00:40I thought he was good in this game.
00:41I thought his overall play was good.
00:43His through ball for Kenneth Vargas was really eye-catching.
00:47And I know the Scotland coach is speaking to John Carver
00:50at Hampden on Monday.
00:51They were encouraged by his performance.
00:52So if they can continue keeping confidence up
00:56in this playing style, buy in a sort of Neil Critchley's
01:01philosophy for it, and then add a scoring touch,
01:03even if it is just a couple of goals a game,
01:05then I think good things will come of this style.
01:09Because initially speaking, the overall performances
01:11have been positive.
