00:06Because the price of my Meralco is going to rise by almost 43 cents this November.

00:19Even though it's not yet reaching the peak of Christmas lights or Christmas break

00:24when there are more people at home and consuming electricity,

00:28Meralco customers need to prepare a more expensive budget for the electric bill.

00:33Because the price of electricity is going to rise by almost 43 cents this November.

00:40That's equivalent to 85 pesos added to the bill per 200 kWh consumption

00:45all the way up to 213 pesos added to the bill per 500 kWh consumption.

00:52It's heavy for Ms. Precy's family

00:54that the normal consumption of electricity is already exceeding 200 kWh before Christmas.

00:59That's even though she's very keen on using electricity.

01:03We don't have an air conditioner.

01:05It's not just that it's hot, we don't have a comforter.

01:07According to Meralco, aside from the rising demand,

01:10the peso has also been reduced due to the single power producers

01:14as well as the liquefied natural gas terminal fee and other bills.

01:18This is the fastest reduction of the peso in more than two years.

01:23Many of our cost of generators are dollar denominated.

01:27For someone like me who is a senior and has no job,

01:31it's really heavy for me.

01:36It's so heavy that our electricity bill is going to rise again.

01:43What to do?

01:46Meralco has yet to say how the price of electricity will move in December.

01:51Although there will be more lights and decorations, parties and reunions,

01:55the weather will be colder so the use of refrigerators may be reduced.

02:00We'd rather wait until the final bills from our suppliers come in.

02:08Although the weather is cooler,

02:12increased activity in terms of the usage of electricity may also come in.
