00:00Hi, I'm health reporter Sarah McCann.
00:03The winter months with the dreary days and dark nights can really leave you feeling blue.
00:09Here are some top tips on how to boost your mood this winter.
00:13One way to help improve your mood during the winter months is self-care.
00:18This can take on many forms from eating well, getting enough sleep,
00:23to doing activities that bring you joy, from crafting to enjoying your favourite meal.
00:29Exercise can also play a role. It doesn't have to be something strenuous,
00:33it can be something as simple as a nice gentle walk.
00:36Exercise is known to improve mood, stress and anxiety.
00:41It's also important to ensure that you get enough vitamin D during those dark winter months.
00:46During winter our bodies cannot produce enough vitamin D due to the lack of sunlight,
00:51so the NHS do advise that for children over 4 and adults,
00:55that they should consider taking a vitamin D supplement.
00:58If you have any concerns about your vitamin D levels, it's advised to get in touch with your GP.
