00:00So many superhero sequels get announced nowadays that it's hard to keep track of them.
00:05Need a refresher on the heroes and antiheroes that'll be returning to the big screen?
00:09These are the upcoming movies you won't want to miss.
00:12With superhero movies no longer being surefire hits at the box office, it's understandable
00:16that studios may want to stick with what's worked in the past to a large extent, which
00:19is probably why there are soon to be two cinematic Batman franchises running concurrently.
00:24As part of the DC Universe shepherded by James Gunn and Peter Safran, a new Batman film is
00:29in the works called The Brave and the Bold.
00:32At the same time, 2022's The Batman was a wild success that saw Robert Pattinson perfectly
00:37embody the Dark Knight.
00:38Thankfully for fans, The Batman will be getting a part two.
00:41People need hope, to know someone's out there for them."
00:47Like the original, The Batman Part 2 will be written and directed by Matt Reeves.
00:51Naturally, speculation has run rampant as to which villain or villains Reeves will choose
00:56to pit against Pattinson's caped crusader.
00:58Mr. Freeze is a popular theory, especially with the sequel apparently taking place in
01:02the winter.
01:03That said, he might be a bit too fantastical to adapt into Reeves' more grounded version
01:08of Gotham.
01:09The Court of Owls and Hush are more realistic villains that Reeves could adapt, giving Bruce
01:12Wayne unique challenges that he hasn't encountered on the big screen before.
01:15The Batman Part 2 will sweep into theaters on October 2nd, 2026.
01:21In the 1990s, comic book adaptations were a novelty rather than the law of the land.
01:25Films like Batman Forever and Blade managed to break out into the mainstream, but 1997's
01:30Spawn wasn't as lucky.
01:32The movie was widely panned by critics, and many fans of the character were put off by
01:36the fact that the violent comic book received a PG-13 rating rather than an R.
01:41It's been nearly two decades, but it may be finally time to right the wrongs of the past
01:45by bringing Spawn to the big screen yet again in the upcoming adaptation, King's Spawn.
01:50It doesn't sound as though this will be a direct sequel to the first Spawn film.
01:54Instead, it'll be more akin to a reboot than anything else.
01:57That said, the details of its development should be enough to get Spawn heads ecstatic.
02:01They have Blumhouse, the production company responsible for horror hits like Insidious,
02:05and Megan, to thank for the antihero's return.
02:08For now, it sounds as though King's Spawn is simply a working title, and the movie won't
02:12actually adapt the comic book run of the same name.
02:14But now that R-rated comic book movies have proven themselves to be box office winners,
02:18it's the perfect time to let Spawn run wild.
02:21Hell yeah!"
02:23Released in 2005, Constantine could have easily been lost to the annals of time.
02:28It grossed $230 million at the global box office, but received mixed reviews from critics.
02:33Unlike Spawn with its PG-13 rating, Constantine was rated R, but it still didn't go as far
02:38as it could have.
02:39Director Francis Lawrence explained to Collider how he and his team set out to get a PG-13
02:44rating, but were slapped with an R regardless.
02:46He recalled,
02:47If we were gonna get an R rating, I would have made an R-rated movie.
02:51We got a bit screwed on that front."
02:52Due to that lackluster reception, it appeared as though a true R-rated Constantine film
02:57would permanently remain out of reach.
02:59But with the original movie gaining a cult following over the years, talk of a sequel
03:03has been around for a while.
03:04Ultimately, rights issues held up a prospective Constantine 2 for years, but a follow-up now
03:09seems to finally be in motion.
03:11In 2022, it was announced that Constantine 2 was in development with Keanu Reeves returning
03:15as the grizzled exorcist.
03:17Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a producer on the original Constantine, shared of the sequel's
03:22script,
03:23I haven't read it yet.
03:24Akiva Goldsman wrote it, and I'm super excited.
03:26Post-Avengers Endgame, Marvel Studios' output has been a bit of a mixed bag.
03:30For every Spider-Man no way home that fans adore, there's a secret invasion that the
03:34internet collectively piles on.
03:36It's a good thing for fans of martial arts movies that 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend
03:40of the Ten Rings falls into the former camp as a highlight of Marvel's recent offerings.
03:45Using Simu Liu as the titular hero, it balances an emotional story with impressive fight scenes
03:50reminiscent of classic wuxia films.
03:52It's taken a while to get the ball rolling on a sequel, but Liu clarified in April 2024
03:57that Shang-Chi 2 is definitely still happening.
04:00It might, however, be in need of a new director, as Shang-Chi's Destin Daniel Cretton is in
04:04talks to bring his talents to Spider-Man 4.
04:07It's possible Cretton could film both movies depending on release dates, but that would
04:11certainly be quite the undertaking.
04:13Marvel's multiverse saga will conclude with Avengers Secret Wars, and there are theories
04:17that Shang-Chi's Ten Rings will potentially tie into the multiverse.
04:20Releasing another Shang-Chi movie before Secret Wars, which is slated to come out May 7, 2027,
04:26would make the most sense, but it remains to be seen when the character will surface
04:29again in live action.
04:31With Destin Daniel Cretton likely to be in the director's chair, Spider-Man 4 is moving
04:34full speed ahead.
04:36It's understandable that Marvel would want to get one of their most popular heroes back
04:39on screen as soon as possible, but following the success of No Way Home, there were reports
04:43that Marvel and Sony were fighting over what direction Spider-Man 4 should take.
04:48While such reports should be taken with a grain of salt, Marvel apparently wants a grounded
04:52story, while Sony is skewing more toward another multiverse installment that could bring back
04:56Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as a variance of Peter Parker.
05:00With supervillain Null appearing in Venom The Last Dance, it's possible Sony is setting
05:04up a massive multiverse-level story with a god of symbiotes factoring in.
05:08After all, writer and director Kelly Marcel teased to IGN,
05:11"...the King in Black is way too powerful for one and done."
05:14At the same time, Kingpin waging war against New York vigilantes in Daredevil Born Again
05:18would also be an ideal plot thread to explore in a New York-centric Spidey movie.
05:23Given Spider-Man 4 and the high likelihood that Peter Parker will play important roles
05:27in Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars, Tom Holland is going to be very busy very soon.
05:32"...I'd rather just stay on the ground for a little while.
05:34Friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man.
05:36Somebody's gotta look out for the little guy, right?"
05:39You'd be forgiven for missing Bloodshot when it came out in theaters.
05:42It was released to the public on March 13th, 2020, less than a week before cineplexes closed
05:47as the COVID-19 pandemic began wreaking havoc across the globe.
05:50It obviously couldn't make a ton of money, and Sony promptly made the movie available
05:54to stream on March 24th.
05:56Plenty of people seem to have checked it out at home, because later in 2020, it was announced
06:01that Bloodshot 2 was in development.
06:02Vin Diesel will return as Ray Garrison, a soldier killed in the line of duty who's brought
06:06back to life with incredible strength.
06:08The project hasn't been canceled in the years since, but there also hasn't been much word
06:12on its progress or lack thereof.
06:14Diesel is working on the next chapter in the Fast and Furious franchise, so it may just
06:18be the creative team is waiting for his schedule to clear up before moving full speed ahead.
06:23The first Bloodshot had ample unanswered questions that a sequel could explore.
06:26But even if Bloodshot ultimately made its money back through video on demand, it's not
06:30clear whether people will care if and when the sequel finally comes out.
06:35It's hard to overstate the influence of Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse are modern animated projects
06:40attached to big franchises.
06:41One can definitely see that all over 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Mutant Mayhem,
06:46which fully utilizes its unique animation style to tell a story that would have been
06:50far more difficult in live action.
06:52Paramount must have been pleased with the reception, as the movie spawned a Paramount
06:55Plus original spin-off series called Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the
06:59sequel tentatively set to come out on October 9th, 2026.
07:02Director Jeff Rowe will be back to helm the follow-up, while the ending of TMNT Mutant
07:07Mayhem sets up what the sequel will be about.
07:09After Superfly fails to take over the city, his gang of mutants decide to team up with
07:13the Turtles, but now, Shredder has arrived in New York.
07:16Mutant Mayhem 2 will likely involve the Ninja Turtles going up against their most iconic
07:20foe, but who knows what other surprises could be in store?
07:24Did you get that, April?
07:25Did you film that?
07:26Sorry, am I supposed to film all the stuff you do?
07:28Because a lot of it's dumb."
07:30Disney and Pixar revealed at 2024's D23 Expo that The Incredibles 3 is in the works, with
07:36Brad Bird returning to direct.
07:37A third installment probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, considering that
07:41The Incredibles 2 grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide.
07:45There isn't much known about the project just yet.
07:47One would assume that the cast of fan-favorite heroes, including Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter,
07:52and Samuel L. Jackson, would return.
07:54Given the long development cycles of many animated projects, it could be a while before
07:58Incredibles 3 finally makes it to theaters.
08:01But there's already a ton of hype around the film.
08:03As for the plots, it's possible that Bird could utilize a scrapped idea from The Incredibles
08:072.
08:08He spoke with IndieWire in 2019 about other ideas he had, revealing,
08:11"...I did have a superhero story about an invading artificial intelligence.
08:15I will find a way to do it somewhere else."
08:17That somewhere else could definitely be The Incredibles 3, especially with AI being such
08:21a contentious topic.
08:23And it wouldn't be the Parr family's first time fighting that particular threat.
08:27Sony Pictures intended to get a Sinister Six movie off the ground back in the 2010s.
08:31This is why the ending of 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ended with Green Goblin talking
08:36about assembling a team, accompanied by shots of villainous technology that hinted at the
08:40future inclusion of Dark Ark and Vulture.
08:43That movie, originally to be set within Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man universe, was ultimately
08:47scrapped.
08:49According to rumors, Sony hasn't let go of its Sinister Six dreams quite yet.
08:52It's good to stay skeptical on any Sinister Six news, but speculation in 2023 suggested
08:57that Sony wants a Sinister Six movie featuring the cavalcade of Spidey villains who have
09:02starred in their own solo movies — Tom Hardy's Venom, Jared Leto's Morbius, and Aaron Taylor
09:06Johnson's Kraven the Hunter.
09:08In February 2024, another rumor emerged, suggesting that Sony may want to produce an animated
09:13Sinister Six film instead.
09:15It's unclear if that would be connected to the live-action Spider-Man villain films we'll
09:18see in the future, or if it'll be a standalone project.
09:20Nothing has been confirmed at this time by Sony, but if all those spinoffs don't lead
09:23to a Sinister Six team-up, then why was Michael Keaton in Morbius?
09:27I'm still figuring this place out, but I think a bunch of guys like us should team up.
09:32We could do some good.
09:34Intriguing.
09:35There are a lot of Marvel projects that are seemingly active and in the works, like Shang-Chi
09:402 and Thor 5, but there aren't a lot of details publicly about them at this point.
09:45The prospective film that falls into that category is Doctor Strange 3, and which would
09:49make the most sense for Marvel to get started on as quickly as possible.
09:52Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends with Clear taking Doctor Strange on his
09:56next big adventure to correct an incursion.
09:59In Multiverse of Madness, it's explained that an incursion is when two universes collide
10:03with one another and begin to deteriorate, which will more than likely factor into the
10:06events of Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars.
10:10It's the type of apocalyptic threat that would play well in those films and bring the Multiverse
10:13saga to an epic conclusion.
10:15It would therefore make sense for Doctor Strange 3 to arrive before those Avengers movies,
10:19or maybe between them.
10:21Additional rumors suggest that the plot of Doctor Strange 3 will adapt the Time Runs
10:25Out comic book storyline, and see the Master of the Mystic Arts deal with the fact that
10:28he's a common denominator when it comes to the destruction of universes.
10:32With the Multiverse at Strange's fingertips, the possibilities are literally endless.
