00:00Let's take a look at what happened at the official opening of the Philippine National Paragames this year

00:06after a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

00:09Here's Paolo Salamatin's report.

00:13Parathletes from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao gathered

00:20for the opening ceremony of the 8th edition of the Philippine National Paragames in Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

00:27This kind of event is a big thing especially for the parathletes

00:32because it gives an opportunity to discover more parathletes

00:37who can possibly give glory to the country one day.

00:42Do your best and don't waste the opportunity given to you

00:47because of the many of us, only a few will be chosen.

00:50So, to those who are not here, don't lose hope

00:54because I don't know if this will be a yearly event

00:57so we don't know if this is not our year yet, maybe next year.

01:00So, keep on practicing and then keep faith, don't give up, just fight.

01:06I hope that they will show their talents here

01:11so that they can qualify to become a national team.

01:16As you can see, only a few of us qualified for the Olympics, right?

01:20So, our goal is to increase the number of athletes who will represent our country.

01:36led the ceremony and gave a message to all the participants in the competition.

01:42So, my challenge to you is to come here to your group

01:48to become the first gold medalist in LA,

01:53Los Angeles Olympics United States of America 2028.

01:58Can you do it?

02:02This proves that sports plays an important role

02:06in the implementation of a peaceful and equal community in the new Philippines.
