Transcript
00:00So Newcastle United continue their fantastic run in the Premier League with a brilliant 3-1 here at the City ground.
00:07A second half turnaround from Newcastle after going into the break 1-0 down, Southern won 3-1.
00:12It was a brilliant second half performance as I said, Eddie Howe has got to take credit for whatever he said at the break.
00:17It was a brilliant turnaround from the Magpies.
00:21Beginning of the game unchanged for the first time this season, it wasn't really a surprise I think everyone expected.
00:27Eddie Howe made very little, if any, changes from the Arsenal game. It was a brilliant performance.
00:31Newcastle started, well I think to be fair Newcastle probably had three quarters of the game.
00:36I think they probably dominated a large part but Norton Forrest took the lead.
00:41Soft goal for Newcastle conceded, it was a free kick.
00:44Head down by Murillo. It was a soft open goal to concede but Newcastle reacted well, they had chances.
00:56Limited Forrest did really well defensively I think.
01:01Forrest got very little, Chris Wood, everything pretty much went Chris Wood in his form.
01:05He didn't really have a sniff, Dan Byrne and Fabian Schaer dealt with him brilliantly.
01:09Dan Byrne did really well, he was booked within I think the 6th or 7th minute and he stayed on the pitch throughout.
01:14There was a couple of hairy moments but he did brilliantly, him and Schaer to keep one quiet.
01:18In the end Newcastle went into the break 1-0 down, Wood felt that maybe a couple of refereeing decisions,
01:22maybe a penalty, maybe a potential red card, an elbow on Tino Liveromento, a high challenge.
01:28These are 50-50 calls, I think if they'd got beat they would have looked back on that with disappointment.
01:33It can't take anything away from that second half performance, it was fantastic.
01:36They started off like a house on fire, brilliant the second half that came out.
01:40Probably, well certainly deserved the equaliser through Alexander Isak, a ball from a corner, Anthony Gordon corner.
01:46Chris Wood nodded it down, straight in the path of Isak.
01:49Isak, any good striker and any good poacher would do, just gets his foot on the ball, puts it in off the post.
01:55Newcastle are level and that was, yeah, every look back on that moment.
02:00Then Newcastle countered for the second goal, it was a brilliant break.
02:04Isak fed over Joel Linton, Joel Linton cut inside, Tino Liveromento, brilliant decoy run around the right.
02:09Joel Linton cut inside and curled, a beautiful effort off the far post.
02:15It was a fantastic transition, fantastic break for Newcastle and one that will please Eddie Howe.
02:21I think Forrest would be disappointed to come and see that.
02:23As a home side, obviously they probably felt they had to go for it but they were probably a little bit too open in that instance.
02:30They were very solid in the first half, Forrest you've got to give him credit, Newcastle had very little.
02:35But in the second half they were open up, that might be because of Isak's goal early on.
02:38They were just open up and Joel Linton, it was a brilliant finish and a good move.
02:42And one that Newcastle deserved.
02:45I don't think there will be many people leaving this stadium now saying that Newcastle didn't deserve to win that match.
02:51The game was wrapped up just a couple of minutes from time.
02:54Sandro Tonali was fantastic after he was introduced in place of Joe Willock.
02:58He ran down the left, oh actually, I forgot about this.
03:01A brilliant little play from Bruno, Harvey Barnes and Tonali to fashion an opening to get out of their own area.
03:07Barnes had a lovely flick to Bruno, he went on his way, Bruno found Tonali.
03:11Tonali drove up the pitch, found Barnes, Barnes cut in on his right foot and shot near post past Matzels.
03:16Didn't really give the keeper a chance, he might have took a slight nick but that would be harsh to say it wasn't Barnes.
03:20And that sort of wrapped the game up, seven or eight minutes from time.
03:23And yeah, it was a solid performance from Newcastle, brilliant in the second half.
03:26Very good all game to be fair, I think they were decent all game.
03:29They were fantastic in the second half, deserved that win.
03:32And like I said before the game, they needed a statement win really and they got the statement win today.
03:36It was a statement win.
03:37It was a statement win.
03:38As much as they might be not in Forestry, we're third in the table.
03:41And heading into that international break now, Newcastle have got all the momentum in the world.
03:44Does that come at the wrong time?
03:45Very probably, but they've got a lot of momentum.
03:48Heading into that game against West Ham, which is of course in three weeks, three weeks tomorrow on that Monday night.
03:52So that'll be a brilliant atmosphere at St James' Park.
03:54And the Premier League table now, they've got one point behind Forestry, stay third.
03:57Newcastle finish the day in eighth.
03:59You know, they're one point behind there.
04:00There's a couple of teams all on 18 points, but it's very close.
04:02Newcastle are one of the form sides in that group, which is where you want to be really.
04:06So yeah, fantastic performance.
04:07Good win.
04:08Good statement win that they can take after the international break and hope they can repeat that against West Ham.
04:13The only negative of the day was of course Dan Byrne got booked, so he misses that West Ham game through suspension.
04:19But that's the only sight negatives.
04:20And what has been a brilliant day for Newcastle.
04:22United and Eddie Howard, whatever.
04:23As I said, whatever he said at halftime, it worked fantastically.
04:26Yeah, so another win.
04:27Brilliant from Newcastle United.
04:293-1 here at Nottingham Forest and a statement win.
04:31And that'll be the headline of the day, I think.
04:33A statement win from Newcastle United on the road.
