Scotsman football writer Alan Pattullo reflects on a chaotic afternoon at Easter Road as crisis-hit Hibs plunged deeper into the mire with a 2-1 home defeat to St Mirren.
Transcript
00:00This is Alan Patullo, Easter Road, David Gray, incumbent Hibs manager, just been sitting
00:10in the seat behind me explaining, or trying to explain away a 2-1 defeat to St Mirren
00:14which left the thousands, or should it be hundreds of Hibs fans still left in the ground
00:21at the end. Very angry indeed and obviously has put some more focus on his own job, future
00:33job prospects at Easter Road. A pretty, well dreadful first half showing from Hibs which
00:42left them 2-0 down at half time, Conor McManaman double. They did show a bit of fight in the
00:47second half and conjured up one goal and time added on at the end of the second half
00:53plus another goal that was chalked off right at the end from Nicky Caddon. But I think
00:57that would have been, well certainly unjust on St Mirren and it wouldn't have, although
01:03Hibs fans would gladly have taken a point at that stage, I don't think it would have
01:06pulled a rule over anyone's eyes in terms of what they'd watched out there in the 90
01:11plus minutes. Very poor, leaves Hibs rooted at the foot of the premiership table and means
01:19that they have some soul-searching to do in the upcoming international break before reconvening
01:26at Denz Park against Dundee for a, well it looks like a real six-pointer. I'm sure there'll
01:35be more output from the club in the days ahead, I think the fans will be demanding
01:44it and we'll see what the future is for David Gray. I think, I'd like to think that he would
01:52remain in charge, I think he probably deserves that and I think it's right to point out that
01:58Anger was not directed at him afterwards but it was directed at Malcolm Mackay, director
02:06of football, sporting directors and then cancelled the CEO. There were some pretty uncomfortable
02:14moments for them at the end as the fans gathered round to vent their fury, gathered round the
02:19director's box to vent their fury. Anyway, keep logged into Scotsman.com where there
02:26any breaking news or any opinion will be on there and my match report from the game
02:33is on there and a piece about David Gray I had to say after the game will be on there
02:40as well.
