00:00It's Jalen Milrow on one side for 11th ranked Alabama on the
00:06other for 15th ranked LSU. It is Garrett Nussmeyer. A
00:11difference Kev in the numbers that you will see here for the
00:14passing yards props. 232 and a half for Milrow. Nearly 300 for
00:18Nussmeyer but of course Milrow's arm is not all that he
00:21presents and for a Bayou Bengals defense that greatly
00:25struggled in the second half against Texas A&M with the
00:28athletic Marcel Reed. Jalen Milrow's legs could be a grave
00:32concern for LSU tonight. And I think the question is how much
00:36of that was LSU's defense not being able to contain an
00:39explosive quarterback? How much was them not game planning to
00:44have to contain an explosive quarterback? The LSU defense
00:48has been pretty good this year. I think if you look at the LSU
00:51defense and then say hey where do you think they'd sit this
00:54season? You'd actually project a little better. Sure. But
00:57incredibly they were a second half away from being top eight
01:02and ten top eight in the CFP rankings. I mean it was all
01:06right there for them and they absolutely collapsed. It is hard
01:09for me Joe then to get the full scope on this LSU defense. I do
01:13think there's a temptation for me on betting Milrow the little
01:18toss and tuck special throw one run one because that kind of
01:22was the MO every single game to open this year and we know he
01:25steps up in these big games. Well think about you brought up
01:27last year. What do you rush for? 125, 150 in the game. So it's
01:31not just you know you could make the argument last year they
01:34were terrible. Yeah. But Milrow has given them problems on the
01:37ground. So if we're looking quarterback wise it has to be
01:41Nussmeier from the passing perspective because then that's
01:44that's their MO. They want to push tempo. They want to jump up
01:47early and they want you know first team to 40 or 50 game on.
01:51And even though Milrow could play that way they're still
01:54averaging 254 through the air. Alabama rushing for 177 on the
01:59ground. Yeah. This game trends under the 58 and a half. Most
02:02likely it'll favor Alabama in this matchup because of the
02:05rushing attack and the athleticism of Jalen Milrow. So
02:09I would bet Nussmeier through the 292 and a half. I would look
02:13for a number updated on Jalen Milrow because you have to
02:16believe. Yeah. They utilize that with Georgia. Right? His
02:19athleticism to build that lead. Georgia made adjustments but
02:23they threw wrinkles that Georgia's defense did not see.
02:27Last year for Jalen Milrow against LSU albeit in Tuscaloosa
02:31155 rushing yards and four touchdowns. But for Milrow
02:36turnovers have been a concern in five SEC games. Five TDs to
02:40six INTs. One of the reasons that I laid off making Jalen
02:43Milrow's rushing yards prompt my best bet because I do think
02:46he will have success tonight against LSU is the fact that
02:49Alabama has allowed 11 sacks in the last four games. In the
02:53fact that Joe as you well know, LSU gets after the
02:56quarterback 28 sacks this year for the Bayou Bengals in a ton
03:00of tackles for loss. They are very very athletic and
03:04energetic up front on that defensive line. Garrett
03:07Nussmeier, three INTs against A&M all in the second half
03:12leading to that Aggies comeback and directly resulting in 17
03:16points.
