00:00All right! It's time for another edition of Frank Walks. You know, today's guest
00:07does not need an introduction. It's Big Cat, you know. It's been one year since
00:14his great office opened in Chicago and I want to catch up with him, see what he's
00:21doing, see how his schedule is doing. It's the busy season, it's football season. As
00:25we check in with Big Cat and learn just how much Chicago's growing and how to
00:30bridge this gap between New York and Chicago and show you that we are the
00:34same team. So let's go for a walk and as always, Frank Walks is powered by Body
00:40Armour. Let's do it, Frank. Excited. Yes. You know, we're reaching an anniversary now. Oh.
00:59Yes, it's been now one year since his grand office opened in Chicago. Yes. And
01:07I've come back here now every now and then, every couple of months. We always love when
01:11you're here. You know you always have an open invite. And it's impressive. It's
01:17impressive. What has it been like getting back to Chicago and opening
01:21this dream office up? It's been awesome. It's, you know, it's like
01:29everything is a dream. I have the best job in the world. It's also been a lot of
01:33stress, to be honest, just because we've been in a weird transition at Barstool
01:39where, you know, Dave is not around as much. And I don't, I've been kind of
01:46thrust into a more of a leadership role. And I don't love that part of it, but it
01:51also is needed. Where, you know, I like doing my shows. I like creating content. I
01:57don't like being a boss. I'm not really their people's bosses, but I don't like
02:01being in that spot. But I also know that people look to me for advice and help
02:08and all that kind of stuff. So it's been a mixed bag in that respect. But in terms
02:13of the actual office, it's been incredible. I mean, it's football season.
02:16So football season is the busy season. You got college, you got the NFL. Every
02:22Sunday you're streaming 10 hours sometimes. Yeah, the football season
02:27kills me. When I die early, it's going to be like, what was the cause of death?
02:33It was probably football. I wouldn't trade it for anything. But yeah, it
02:38definitely grinds me down and wears me out more than any other part of the year.
02:43I mean, all year it's busy. You got good streams and you have March Madness. I'd
02:48say probably your lightest season is probably summer, wouldn't you say that?
02:50Yeah, it's like July and August. But even August, we're kind of ramping up. June
02:54and July is nice. But yeah, it's football season. It's where we make our
02:59money. I mean, it's where the most content gets produced. So it's not easy,
03:06but I find a way to manage it. Again, it's like, you know, Frank, we have a
03:11dream job. No one ever wants to hear us complain about working. But yeah,
03:16there's definitely a lot of... Like right now we're doing this on a Monday. I
03:21probably slept about four hours last night. But again, I got to watch football
03:27with my friends in the gambling cave. You were there. It was great having you
03:32back.
03:33Truthfully, sometimes I might feel like a botter. You know, these streams are a
03:38fantasy camp.
03:39Yeah, right. It's essentially like when I leave my house on Sunday mornings, and
03:44my kids are like, oh, you're going to work? You're going to go watch TV with
03:47your friends? It's like, yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm going to go
03:50watch TV with my friends and lose a lot of money gambling. But that's part of
03:54the job too.
03:55I got to say in my four years of full time at Barstool, my favorite month was
04:02October.
04:02Yeah, it's the best. I got to ask you a question.
04:06That Met run.
04:07Yeah, yeah, that was incredible. I'm sorry that it came short. But didn't... I
04:12feel like you, during this Mets run, you were happier than I've seen you in a
04:18long time. And were you, like, was that a season that you can be like, because I
04:25know it's kind of loser talk to be like, you know, if you don't win it all. But
04:28sports, I mean, look, how many championships have you seen?
04:32I've seen one Mets championship.
04:34Right. So like, every year we do this with our teams, and 99 out of 100 times
04:40our teams don't win at all. So can you look back and be like, that was a fun,
04:44fulfilling Mets season?
04:45Yes, I can.
04:47That's and it could have been it could be the start of 2015 when the Mets beat the
04:51Cubs in the NLCS. That was an incredible Cubs season. That was a season where I
04:55was like, they're building something. I didn't know they were gonna win the next
04:59year. But it felt like we were on the precipice.
05:01I have that feeling now for the Mets. I haven't had that feeling in a long time.
05:06The Mets always have these runs and then they screw something up.
05:08Yeah, that's awesome, though, that you have that feeling. There's no better
05:12feeling than that hope and promise of, you know, and I mean, in Lindor is like,
05:17he's a star.
05:19He like clicked this year. Yeah, something clicked and made him a different player.
05:24Yeah, that was that was now were you were you celebrating in the Yankees loss? Do
05:28you hate the Yankees? Some of the other Mets guys?
05:31No, I'm not gonna be one of those guys because I don't like the Dodgers either.
05:34So yeah, that makes sense. I mean, so it's not one of those situations where I'm
05:39gonna revel in the Yankees loss, though. I will say this. The way they went down
05:44in game five that that that was that collapse that was bewildering. And of
05:51course, you know why we sit next to? Yeah, my princess. That was an incredible
05:55stream. I watched the whole street. That was awesome. I mean, that was crazy. And
06:00of course, his son, Harrison, was such a great intern this summer. I mean, for my
06:06money, the best intern ever. Yeah, that was a great. That was a great month of
06:09content for the New York office. All those streams. I was watching every single
06:12one. It was awesome. I mean, it was fun. It was exciting. Now all this streaming
06:18stuff now. What would you say is your favorite part of it? Okay, favorite part
06:24of my job overall? Yes. Um, oh, I like that turn. These guys do a good job. I
06:32still love talking ball on PMT. Um, the nice thing is, like, so I mean, I like
06:39doing all the shows. They're all a little different, and they all kind of
06:42help each other. Like pro football show gets me a little sharper for PMT.
06:46Advisors is obviously so much fun because it's stew. But yeah, I mean, PMT
06:51in the yak because I'm saying this wasn't intentional ever, but it's it's a
06:57yin and yang. That's very nice where it's like part of my take is obviously
07:01sports, and then the yak is just whatever, like hanging out. So it's not
07:06very rarely is in sports. So it kind of fills both sides of what I'm looking to
07:12talk about. But, you know, part of my take is still always will always be, uh,
07:17the bread and butter. And it's, you know, it's the moneymaker, and it's it's
07:20the thing that allows us to do all the other things. So, um, and there's
07:26something about, like, just sitting down with PMT and Hank and Max and and
07:30memes and all the guys and just I love talking about sports, whether it's my
07:34team or other teams. It's always fun, and it's always fulfilling. I don't
07:39think the great thing about
07:42part of my take is sports are the greatest reality show, and the seasons
07:48always, you know, like when you get when you when you get tired of talking about
07:51one sport, it's the next sports up, you know, it's like this. The seasons
07:55always change, right? So it just keeps you fresh in that respect, where it's
07:58not like doing the same podcast over and over.
08:02Like, like with me, the Dolphins, like someone said, the Dolphins could come
08:06back like the Mets had. I gave a speech. I say, Grimace is not walking through
08:10that door. No, you don't have a grimace. There's no South Florida grimace.
08:13There's no South Florida grimace. Now I feel bad for the Dolphins. Besides your
08:17podcasting, all the content you produce, you've come up with some brands. Uh,
08:22part of my cheesesteak, Stellar Blue. How are those doing these days? Good,
08:26good. Part of my cheesesteak is is doing really well. It's kind of runs
08:30itself. Um, sell blue takes a little bit more of my time and effort, but it's
08:35another thing that's fulfilling. I mean, it's we're giving back to dogs.
08:40Obviously, it's, you know, I wanted to do something that not only gave back,
08:44but also, uh, in my in my head, and this is, you know, probably a pipe dream,
08:48but like something that, you know, someday in 20 years from now, uh, I
08:55could potentially, you know, give to my kids and my kids could, could run a
08:59brand if it's successful. Um, because, you know, I don't want, I'm not going
09:03to tell my kids to go be podcasters. So, but I, that was kind of my, my, my
09:09thought behind it was like, I want to give back to pause Chicago because
09:12Stella has been such an important part of my life. And I also want to create
09:16something that could potentially live past me and something that my kids could
09:22have, uh, if, you know, they ever wanted to get into that business side.
09:27Now, I see you make coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker. Yeah. I would think
09:31about Stella blue iced tea or something like that. Uh, we could, we could try
09:36iced tea. People ask me to do decaf and I always say not over my dead body. I
09:40can't do decaf, but yeah, iced tea would be interesting. We should look into
09:44that. I mean, that'd be a great brand. Now, what do you have coming up in the
09:50next few months? In the next few months? I mean, it's just, it's football
09:54season. It's super bowl. Um, and then we'll take a little reset. I'm turning
10:0040, 40. Ooh, big four. Oh, turning 40. I can't believe it. I'm an old man. Well,
10:06I'm almost 10 years ahead of you. I'll be turning 49. Wow. Next week. So I got
10:13one more year before I'm in my fifties. Do you think, uh, cause I'm getting a
10:16little in my head about turning 40. I, you know, I think I still got a few
10:20years left of, of good stuff, but I definitely also, it is a young man's
10:26game and it's not, it's not lost on me. I don't want to be the old guy. Uh, who
10:31everyone's like, Oh, he sucks. So it definitely gets in my head. And 40 is
10:35the first time where I'm like, Oh shit. All right. I'm, I'm 40. Like I don't, I
10:40don't know how many more we'll call it five years, seven years. I don't know
10:43how many more years I got in me. But you know, from my perspective, I'm 40, I'm
10:48almost 49 and you know, I've probably never been in better shape, but you look
10:52great. I mean, uh, you got so much more energy, I'd assume. Yes. Uh, my
10:59heaviest, I was over 500 pounds now. Um, uh, my last way and I was 318. Well, we,
11:06you know, anytime you want to come to Chicago, we love having you here. Um, I
11:11say that to everyone. You're, you're one of the people who takes me up on it,
11:16but, uh, you know, moving from New York, Chicago, obviously like there's a lot of
11:22people in New York that I, I miss hanging around every day. You know,
11:25obviously Roan, I'm very close with, and there's, you know, I love Tommy
11:29Smokes comes out here once a week for advisors, Rico, a bunch of these people
11:33that like, you know, I miss having them around. I feel it's good to have two
11:36like strong pillars, New York, Chicago. Yeah. I think making New York, keeping
11:43New York strong is a goal of mine. Well, I mean, it's always, I said it when we
11:48first moved here and I know that people, you know, you can't listen to the
11:53commenters and people online. Like we're still one company. And I said it to
11:59everyone here. The first day I was like, look, we're not, this isn't a rivalry.
12:03We're not the New York success is our success. If New York fails or Chicago,
12:08if Chicago fails, that's, that's bad for New York. If New York fails, that's
12:14bad for Chicago. Yeah. So it's like, we're all, we're all still working for
12:18the same company, the same brand. And, you know, you guys have so many
12:23successful things going on in New York that it's like, it's stupid to, but
12:26that's, that's also the internet. The internet's always going to make it a
12:29rivalry. There's nothing you can do about that. I mean, we had that trial
12:33last week for tape. That was quite something. I tried to stay as far out of
12:37that as possible. Um, but yeah, that was, that was, that was quite something,
12:41but yeah, I, you know, I, anytime we have streams, you, you want to come more
12:46than welcome. I mean, I wish the dolphins were a little bit better.
12:50Yeah. I have officially check out this season. That's official. Yep.
12:55Officially official, officially official. I know what Frank, I think I've checked
13:00out of the bear season too. And they're four and four and I've checked out.
13:03Well, the dolphins are two and six and I saw an article that the dolphins are
13:07desperately trying to trade at a piece. They shouldn't be buying. They should be
13:12selling. And I agree. I would say trade Jalen Waddle. I would. Yeah, I would. We
13:17could, we should, we should GM this. Oh, they're giving us the, uh, all right. So
13:23who's, who's, I got to ask you one last question. Who's the dream? Who's the
13:26next big white whale dream guest on, uh, we're trying for many, I want to get
13:30Steven Cohen with the Mets. If he ever forgives me. Wait, how's that
13:34relationship now? He's still blocking me, but I think, I think maybe there's a
13:37signs of, of going, of course, Dan Marino. Uh, Dan Marino is a tough one. You know,
13:43we interviewed him on my take. He didn't really like us, but hopefully he'll like
13:47me. I, I I'm different. I'm different. Uh, Charles Barkley. We're trying to get,
13:50we've got a lot of people we're trying to get, uh, you know, and as we grow, I
13:55think we'll get more bigger guests, uh, more time for door. That's a, that's a
13:59dream guest. Well, you let me know anyone I can help get because I love
14:03watching these and I love, you know, like I was awesome seeing you with JJ
14:06Watt and SVP. So anyone, uh, Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick, that was a great, that was
14:13a great walk, but anyone I can help you with, I'm, I'd be more than happy to.
14:18Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Jenks just asked how I keep the energy with all the
14:24shows going. Um, and I, I'll be honest, it's, it's not easy sometimes because
14:29there are definitely days where I don't feel like I have. And I know you've been
14:33going through some little physical, not fun. Um, I think the, the, the key is
14:40like, well, there's two things. One is you gotta always remember that we have a
14:44dream job. And like I said, at the beginning of this, no one wants to ever
14:47hear us complain about working. Uh, so that's important. And then the other
14:52thing is like, I, I view Barstool and what we do and the shows we put out is
14:57like, it, you know, you can't have an a plus show, every show, every show can't
15:04be the greatest thing that you've ever done. Cause otherwise what, you know,
15:07like you can't be like, that was the funniest show ever. The hope is if you
15:11consistently put good stuff out there, you will have the a plus shows, but the B
15:16shows are okay as well. So that's kind of my thought process behind it, where
15:20it's like, don't put the pressure on yourself. I think a lot of people at
15:26Barstool sometimes put the pressure on themselves. Like I got to put out a show
15:29that is the, is, is like side splitting funny from start to finish. No, that's
15:35not true. Yeah. I think sometimes with content people try to overthink it and
15:39they end up, uh, uh, paralysis by analysis. Just be yourself and hope that
15:45the, the body of work over time, uh, speaks for itself where it's like, you
15:50know, we deal with that in the yak, the acts of two hour live show every day is
15:54every yak going to be the funniest yak ever. That would be insane. Like you
15:58couldn't do that. It's basically let's put together a good show and there'll be
16:03a couple moments every day that people can look back at and be like, that was
16:07very funny. And then every now and then we'll have a show that's like, Holy
16:10shit, start to finish. That was incredible. And those are the ones that
16:13you love. But then you also have to, when you do have a show, that's
16:17incredible. Or you put together a great interview. It's always the next one. I
16:22never, the big, the big piece with this, this job is like, you can't sit, if you
16:27have an incredible, you do a Frank's walks with, uh, JJ watt, you can't be
16:31like, all right, we're done. We're good for the month. You know, it's the next
16:34one. We're looking for the next one. We're always looking for the next one.
16:37Right now. And like the streaming, I love you talking about how New York
16:41teams were going good. I hate to say this, but I love that. Hail Mary
16:47reaction. Oh, that killed me. Like just like, I know he was going nuts. That
16:52killed me. And I knew you could tell while we were watching it, when Jane
16:56Daniels was scrambling around, I think I said on the show, I was like, this is
17:00bad. This is really bad because you know, a hail Mary, when a guy gets that,
17:04like when he breaks that like 10 second mark of running in the backfield, you
17:08just know disasters coming. And that's what happened. Well, thank you for
17:12joining us. You know, big things coming up. So stay tuned. Watch the yak. Watch
17:17the PMT. Watch everything. You know, Frank walks. Watch Frank walks. You're
17:23the best friend. I love you as always. You're the best.
