Jim, Jon, Heather, and the crew give their college football and NFL picks for this weekend!
Transcript
00:00Week 11 of the picks last week. Heather, the only one to pick Oregon four and three. She's
00:0645 and 25. I'm 10 games back at 500. John Jansen is in dead last. I will spare you reading
00:14the record out loud. Let's go to the first game, Greg. All right. Number five, Texas,
00:18a 21 and a half point favorite hosting the Florida Gators gym. Gators have been hanging
00:24tough. Texas has been underwhelming lately and the lines at 21 and a half to hook a bunch
00:29of suckers in, but I'm saying hook them. Give me Texas off a bite of roll. Oh, call
00:34yourself a sucker. No, they want to get Florida money. You go ahead and do what you got to
00:39do. I'm going to be the sucker. Suckers, suckers, suckers, suckers. Remember that? It was like
00:47three years ago. Uh, Florida has hung around. Why wouldn't they continue to hang around?
00:52Is it always Napier safe now? So they're just going to mail it in for the season. They still
00:57got a chance to make a bowl game. This is a lot of points. And you said at gym a couple
01:01of days ago, how good is Texas? So the vote of confidence from administration for Napier,
01:08I get it. The fan base, not really excited about it. However, Texas coming off a buy,
01:14they have been somewhat underwhelming. I think they, they, they, this is statement game form.
01:19Even though Florida is a 500 team, they have played tough. I think Texas takes them to
01:24the woodshed and just drops the hammer. Give me Texas. I'm also going with the Longhorns.
01:30My reason is that when I heard Longhorns, it reminds me of long necks and land before
01:34time was one of my favorite movies. So I'm going with long necks is land before time.
01:41Not long neck, like beer, like bottle their long necks, the dinosaur. Anyway, I know what
01:47you're talking about. Heather, a six year old Greg Hargreeves. Favorite movie was also
01:52before time. What? Yes. I don't remember long. I remember a little. You've never seen land
01:57before time. Wow. No. John. About a recruiting class. So older than us. Not going to fit
02:03Florida. Cool. With Billy Napier hanging around and we all forget how good Texas is. Longhorns.
02:10Oh boy. Number two, Georgia travels to the Grove to take on number 16. Mississippi Bulldogs
02:16are favored by two and a half. Gov. I'm going to steal your thunder here a little bit. Oh
02:23no. Fine. Go for it. But I'm going to call him. This is going to be the name I have for
02:27him. And there's a Brian Chapman tied to him, but deep South James Franklin, AKA Lane Kiffin.
02:34He just doesn't win big games. Okay. They're like destined for three and four loss seasons
02:39as long as he's coached for the rest of eternity. Georgia is fighting and surging to get into
02:43the playoff. Give me the Bulldogs. Yep. Same thing here. Georgia scrapping and clawing.
02:48They're fighting for their lives. I think Georgia Kirby smart is going to have them
02:51ready to roll. I'm on the same page as you guys go with Georgia. Copycat. Sounds like
02:56people are gun shy of picking sec Penn state in a big spot after actual Penn state came
03:02up short in a big spot. Perfect. I'll take them. Georgia still charging the super weapon
03:08rabs. Jim to put some numbers on it. Lane Kiffin is three and 15 against the top 10.
03:14He's James Franklin. And since coming to Ole miss he's Oh, and five against Bama and Georgia
03:18with some ugly games. You're right. I am gun shy. I am not taking Ole miss. Give me the
03:22Bulldogs. Number 11, Alabama is a two and a half point favorite heading to Baton Rouge
03:27to take on number 14 LSU. Let's start with John. I think the athletes at Alabama are
03:31greater than the athletes at LSU. And you've got some great ones on both sides. LSU has
03:36the better offensive line, but I just Alabama fighting for their lives saying there's a
03:40lot of fighting for their lives this weekend. A lot of big time matchups. It's going to
03:44be a fun weekend. Give me Alabama. This is a tough one for me. And I was originally,
03:49well, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I was going to choose LSU. And then I saw
03:52the article that they're going to have a live tiger on their sideline. They haven't done
03:56that since 2015. Oh, they, they got the approval from Peter. It sounds like, well, no, Peter's
04:01against it. And I kind of am too. I just don't see the point. Then why are you picking
04:06them? I haven't decided yet. I said, I said it was originally going to pick LSU, but this
04:10is like, do I pick it? Cause that's kind of cool. And people are going to be fired up
04:12or do I pick it? Cause I kind of don't like it. It's cruel. I'll go with Alabama. Well,
04:16they have a live element elephant on the sideline or no, that would be awesome. Sorry. Home
04:22field at night is the difference here. Go Tigers. Jim Death Valley at night. Awful loss
04:30season on the line, Bama off of by better coach season on the line. This is great theater.
04:37I think there's going to be a ton of points in this game. I am taking the live tiger.
04:42I am taking LSU in a bounce back spot. Jim had said pre-show this is toughest game to
04:48pick this week. I agree. It's just so hard to pick this game. So a guy that I really
04:54like as an analyst that was let go by ESPN is David Pollock and he still does a podcast.
04:58So I looked to go see what he picked and he picked Alabama and he thinks they're going
05:01to win easy. I'm going to go with that and I'm going to take the tide.
05:05Michigan's baton death March of a season continues in Bloomington against Indiana where the Hoosiers
05:10are favored by 13 and a half Heather. Um, I'm going with Indiana. No reason. I've got
05:18a reason for you, Heather. There is a captain Janeway statue in Bloomington denoting the
05:23future birthplace of the legendary Starship captain from Star Trek Voyager, Indiana. Where
05:29is this statue in Bloomington? Specifically? I believe it's on the South end of town. Johnny,
05:34you're going to stop by and see it. If, if anybody there knows what it is, sure.
05:40That's it. My turn. We're good. They don't call them lose Deanna. It's windy, Anna. I
05:46hate this. And they've used it on social media. It's a thing. Windy Anna rolls up another
05:50big number, just another bad team on the schedule this week. I'm going with Indiana
05:55here. I think this might be the week that Michigan, the, where the wall truly breaks
06:00on them. They, they kind of just kept it to where it was respectable with Texas, Texas
06:05is in the final score in Oregon last week. They've kind of just made it look better than
06:09it really is. And I think Cignetti is going to take full advantage of a wounded animal
06:15here and they might win by four scores. Cignetti is cut from the same cloth as Dan Lanning.
06:23When he has a chance to hammer you, he is going to hammer you the strength for Indiana
06:29passing game. I think one of the weaknesses for Michigan is past defense. It's been underwhelming
06:36to say the least. And so I'm going to take Indiana. I think 14 and a half might be low
06:42Now for Sunday football, 40 Niners traveled to Tampa laying six and a half to the bucks.
06:48Bucks played up in a loss. Last week, San Francisco had the buy. I'll take the Niners
06:53in this spot, Jim. Yeah. Off of by Tampa with a short week, this is Niners and a gotta have
06:57it spot. Everybody continues to disrespect Tampa. And this is a lot of points when a
07:03team's at home and they've got the injuries and then they're coming off the short week
07:07and all that, but they've shown so much resiliency this year.
07:09And the reason I'm going to go with them is, is that in the last 10 games for the Niners,
07:13the game's gone over seven of the 10 and Tampa's last six, it's gone over. It's going to be
07:18a high scoring, but close game Niners win, but bucks cover. I didn't think there was
07:23any chance they could be even in the game in Kansas city. And I think Baker Mayfield
07:30is one of the best competitors in all of the NFL, except he's going to be throwing the
07:36ball. He can't catch it. He can't run it. He can't block. I don't know that they're
07:40going to be able to be competitive at other positions. So, and especially if Christian
07:44McCaffrey is back, which is a big question, Mark, give me the Niners Giselle with the
07:48analysis there, Heather, I'm going with the box.
07:52You can't throw the ball and catch it to what you said. I see a lot of these jokes. I usually
07:59get five or six minutes later. 72 commanders are two and a half point home favorites against
08:05the six and two Steelers. Let's start with Jim. I'm going to take the commanders in this
08:08spot under a field goal. They're the better team. I'm going Steelers off the buy. I think
08:13they're get their offense a little more fine tune or the better defensive team. And I think
08:18they'll win and cover. I'm going to go with the home team. I think playing there. And
08:23I know having received some correspondence from them, it's going to be a sellout. It
08:29has a better sellout for the commanders in some time. They are, the juices are flowing.
08:34I think Jaden Daniels is having a great season. He's going to continue that. And the Steelers,
08:38I just don't trust the offense to be that consistent. So give me the commanders. Give
08:43me the commanders as well. Copycat. This race in Washington is too close to call. So I will
08:48take the Steelers end of the points. The Detroit Lions taking on the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium
08:55on Sunday night football. Lions are three and a half point favorites on the road. Gov.
09:02All right. I went deep into the trenches here for some stats. The lions are three and on
09:06a central time zone this year. They've been on the central time zone warpath this season.
09:12They will continue that. They're also nine and two in their last 11 in the central time
09:15zone. Give me the lines. Lines are the better team. They win. And I've been in, I don't
09:20even think it's a question. Give me the lines. Yeah. The lions are going to destroy them.
09:23Give me the lions with Hutch out. I can't make my Aiden Hodgson versus CJ Stroud joke.
09:29That won't phase me because nothing phases this team. Lions Texans extra rest off a loss.
09:37They're back home. This is the one. This is the best QB Detroit has faced post Hutch and
09:43none of it matters. Nothing phases the Detroit lions. Houston has a porous run defense. Sonic
09:49knuckles, knuckles, Sonic lions roll. And those are the picks. It's 97 one.
