00:00The movement of the government continues to meet the needs of the affected residents of Baguio, Marseilles.

00:06Aside from providing assistance to the affected residents,

00:09the government has also deployed various assets for the clearing operations.

00:15The Office of Civil Defense has called on the authorities to use the Geohazard Maps

00:22to make it more effective to move those who live in places that are often hit by calamity.

00:33More than 30,000 people have been affected by the Marseilles earthquake, according to the Office of Civil Defense.

00:39OCD Undersecretary Ariel De Pomoceno explained that their recovery efforts are still ongoing

00:44after the Christina and Leona earthquakes.

00:46Of the 17,019 individuals, or equivalent to 2,059 families,

00:51the evacuation areas of Region 1, 2, and Cornillera Administrative Region are still active.

00:57Of the 10,792, severely affected families, or equivalent to 32,138 individuals, are in Region 1, 2, and Cornillera Administrative Region.

01:05In the latest update received by the OCD,

01:07there are five unpassable roads in Region 2,

01:10no road sections are not passable in Region 1, 2, and CAR,

01:13while landslides are being recorded in some places in Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.

01:17The seawall also collapsed due to the impact of the Marseilles earthquake.

01:22It is also reported that 14 LGUs are experiencing power interruptions in Region 1, 2, and CAR.

01:28According to De Pomoceno, while they are waiting for the latest reports from the field,

01:32he confirmed that those in need of help have been prepositioned,

01:35in accordance with the orders of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

01:38such as clean water, food packs from the DSWD,

01:42and non-food items such as hygiene kits and medical kits from the DOH.

01:46In the initial report they received,

01:48there are already 187,875 family food packs that have been distributed,

01:53and they expect that this will be added.

01:55What we have learned in preparing is the prepositioning of the relief goods for them.

02:03What the Office of Civil Defense is doing is to make sure,

02:07on the logistic side, that the relief goods from the DSWD will arrive on time.

02:13At the same time, the OCD also confirmed that the assets of the Philippine Coast Guard

02:17and Philippine National Police are prepositioned,

02:19such as the generator sets deployed in affected areas such as Ilocos.

02:23Under the leadership of Defense Secretary Gilberto Fedoro,

02:26there was a call to the LGUs for immediate pre-emptive evacuation

02:30to avoid casualties from the Marseilles earthquake.

02:33The OCD also called on the DILG to use geo-hazard maps

02:37to be more effective when it comes to relocating residents

02:40who are often hit and affected by calamities.

02:44Our countrymen should not think that we were not flooded before,

02:50that there were no landslides before.

02:51So our countrymen and the leaders of our local government units,

02:55again, should not make decisions based on past experiences decades ago.
