00:00Ooh, I really hope the resin isn't radioactive. Here's a look at the Diamond Select Marble
00:05Incredible Hulk 1 1⁄2 scale resin bust.
00:25The Hulk is busting out. Measuring approximately 11 inches tall, this 1 1⁄2 scale bust of
00:30the Incredible Hulk captures him at the angriest, sitting atop a base styled after the gamma
00:35bomb that gave him his powers. This portrait of the Hulk is limited to only 1,000 pieces
00:40and is hand-numbered on the base. Plus, it comes packaged with a matching certificate
00:44of authenticity. It was designed by Joe Allard and sculpted by Alterton. Nothing puny about
00:50the green behemoth here. Just before, of course, we get a closer look at the Incredible Hulk
00:531 1⁄2 scale resin bust, let's take the tape measure and see how tall the bust actually
00:57stands. The scarcity of this isn't lost on me. With only 1,000 pieces of this released
01:02worldwide, even at selling at $250, many online sites have already sold out of their
01:08stock. The Hulk is though going to stand at 10 inches in height, or the big green giant
01:14is going to be about 25 centimeters tall. Partially blocking banner, but not for long.
01:18The coming clue with the bust, you get yourself a certificate of authenticity. To tell the
01:22collectors lucky enough to get the statue for themselves, that it's an authentic diamond
01:25select release. It does list the name of the character as the Incredible Hulk 1 1⁄2 scale
01:29bust and it does also tell you the number sequence out of 1,000. That same sequence
01:33will also be found, you'll see in a second, underneath the bottom of the base. I always
01:37tend to hold these and display them along with the statues. You can choose to do that
01:39for yourself or a lot of people like to put them back in the boxes to keep the certificates
01:43pristine and protected. Let's move that off to the side for at least right now. As mentioned
01:48already, if you look at the bottom of the base, what you will see though is the number.
01:52So it's the same number of 198 out of 1,000, but what you won't find this time around
01:56is always usually the thing I mentioned. You don't get rubberized feet. I'm kind of surprised
02:00why they didn't add them on the bottom of the base. Maybe it added too much instability
02:05of the statue, but usually with the rubberized feet, it prevents scratching on surfaces.
02:10But let's say for example, you've got the Hulk over here and you want to slide them
02:12over here. That friction alone may be the thing that may wear away some of that number.
02:17So again, I'm kind of surprised that they didn't add rubberized feet on the bottom
02:20of the base. As for the base itself, of course, we've got the gamma bomb responsible for turning
02:24Bruce Banner into, of course, the Incredible Hulk we see right now. Nicely molded, equally
02:29well painted too. They have a mixture of, of course, silver, some darker grays and blacks
02:34added in there as well. There are a few little areas though, while taking this out by its
02:38base, I was kind of a little bit worrisome about. Like this pipe right here, for example.
02:42Now you got to keep in mind that this is all molded and very carefully painted in resin.
02:47Resins like this, for example, you don't want to put too much pressure against this,
02:49but you can see right here, there's a space between the pipes and the main base. And there's
02:53a space right here. If you put your pressure and friction against this, pushing against
02:58this may actually start the fracture of the resin. So when you're removing this, you want
03:02to kind of remove it from the back of this, because that's the most stable and structured.
03:06Of course, on the back of this, it's nicely detailed there as well. The Hulk being a bust
03:10only, even though they have only cut off and kept really the shoulders of the, of the Hulk
03:14left behind. You can see that they still have sculpted the undercarriage of this. So at least
03:19there's a little bit of texture and go for it. Some prefer to have actually the bottoms of the
03:23bases where the shoulders are or the bottom of the bus to be kind of more of a smoother surface.
03:27I think for Hulk, it actually works a little bit better that they went with a more coarser
03:30rock face instead. Nicely painted though, for the base, no real issues other than just
03:34being careful, of course, to hold it from the front and still a little puzzling that they
03:38didn't add felt feet on the bottom of the base. That aside though, getting a closer look though
03:42at the Hulk, really liked the look of this quite a lot. I'm a big fan of Hulk with very large
03:47eyebrows and a very kind of stuck out forehead like this. And those check the boxes nicely here
03:52for this release. One of my also favorite things about this Hulk happens to be the thing that's
03:56inside his mouth. He actually has strings of spits connecting this tongue to the top, the inside of
04:02his mouth. I think that's a nice little touch. Ideally though, even though it's only just the
04:06tongue part that has that, had they found a way to add a little bit of that dripping from the front
04:10would have been a nice thing to do as well, but I can understand why they chose not to.
04:14Here, at least where it's in the back like this, you're less likely to get your finger in there
04:18and press against it. Had they had little strings of spit, why are we talking so much about spit,
04:24but had they had a little string connecting the top teeth to the bottom, I think that that would
04:28be one thing, especially using clear resin like that, that could potentially fracture or crack.
04:33Speaking of cracks, I can't help but notice that maybe the Incredible Hulk has a few cracks on the
04:37under bites of his teeth. Nicely painted overall. Again, I just love the idea that they added the
04:42little spit strings connecting his tongue. That's a nice little touch. Also again, like when you got
04:47the face sculpt like this, slightly smaller eyes, but a very large forehead. Of course, he's got a
04:52little bit smaller of a nose. I don't know why this reminds me so much of the Incredible Hulk
04:57issue 345, which is kind of funny because this is the green Hulk, yet the character featured on the
05:02front that's separating the Hulk, the H from the rest of the rest of the words is actually a gray
05:06Hulk. It'd be kind of interesting to see what they would be able to do with this statue, had they
05:10reverted the colors back to gray instead of green. Possibly something that they could think of down
05:15the road as a release, maybe a convention exclusive, where we get like essentially like this bust
05:20treated in gray instead of green. The green that we at least get though, has it in two tones. Of
05:25course, you've got the lighter lime green making up the majority of his face and his shoulders,
05:28but as you can see, they've carefully airbrushed all the darker accents of green in there as well.
05:33It's in the eyes, it's around the nasal cavity, especially around the furrowed brows of his brow,
05:38and of course, he's got it down on the sides of his cheek as well. I like the coloring. The darker
05:41really adds a nice contrast to colors. He also, of course, has the more combed down hairstyle.
05:46You'd prefer to have your Hulk like this. Now with the gray Hulk from issue 345, I know again,
05:51I don't know why I'm referenced back to that. It just, for me, that kind of reminds me of that look
05:54for Hulk. The gray Hulk would have had obviously shaved sides for the sides of his hair, so if they
05:59really did retool this at some point to release this as a gray Hulk, they would also have to keep
06:03that in mind and probably have to re-sculpt the hair piece a little bit, so it really would have
06:07only had the mow from the three stooges with the sides not having actual hair instead. The hair,
06:12for what we get, it's nicely done here. You can see on the back of this. I mean, he's quite a
06:17substantially large muscular neck, which again, you've got some really nice dark green colors and
06:23contrasting colors that are added in there as well. You can see some nice veinage that they've
06:26also added to the sides of the neck. It's a statue that, admittingly, while it looks so good from
06:31the front, I mean, it does have a really cool looking side profile too. The only thing that's
06:36lacking though, when you see it from the side like this, is that you don't really see this string of
06:40spit as much though. You'd see it a lot nicer if it was here, but I can understand again why they
06:44chose not to. Just a really phenomenal looking sculpting Hulk. I don't know what it is. Diamonds
06:50seems to do Hulks really well. We've looked at a couple here on this channel, but by far, this one
06:54is my favorite. Granted, we don't get as much of the Hulk this time around. It's essentially only
06:58just a V-cut of his shoulders, but what we at least get of the Green Giant is a really nice
07:02sculpted piece. One thing I also really like that they do a lot with their Legends in Three
07:06Dimensions is that they find a way to incorporate elements of the character into the base itself.
07:12Whether it be this one, whether it be, say, a Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, they always find a
07:15manageable way to pick out a perfect base for the subject. And of course, being the atom bomb,
07:20the thing of course that turns Bruce Banner into the Hulk itself, I think it's a really neat touch
07:25the fact that they find a way to incorporate that. It's a few little areas that I did touch base on
07:29in this review where I would be a little bit more worrisome when it comes to the grabbing the base.
07:33So of course, when you're taking this guy initially out of the package and kind of keep that all in
07:36mind when you're first removing it, don't really kind of put your pressure against the front of
07:40this because that may crack some of the pipage. Is that really a word? The pipage though featured
07:45on the front of base. Other than that though, it's a phenomenal looking Hulk. I still would
07:49love to see this guy get released again. I mean, obviously the other obvious ones I could think of
07:54other than the gray Hulk would also be a red Hulk. Just keeping in mind the same core idea,
07:59I can't imagine that they really would have to really tool anything else differently if they
08:02wanted to release a red version of the Hulk. But I think this sculpt could get a lot of mileage.
08:07Keeping that in mind, Diamond Select, if you want to get the most mileage out of their mold,
08:10release this mold again because it's too good to be released only one time only.
08:14Jumping now over to the rotisserie and a rotating funnel looks at the Legends in Three Dimensions
08:18Hulk complemented by his Gamma Ray Bomb display base. Though in this review I may have said Adam
08:23Bomb, we all know the Gamma Rays were responsible for turning humbled Bruce Banner into the Hulk we
08:28all know. The Gamma Rays can't take thanks alone. They have to share those duties with the talented
08:32team behind the scenes at Diamond Select, responsible for crafting him, not only with
08:37the Gamma Bomb display base, but also as well the Hulk that's on top of it. The Gamma Ray from on
08:42its own, the bomb looks nicely detailed. It's one of those examples too with the Legends in Three
08:46Dimensions that when you see it from all the sides, there's never a part to the statue that
08:50looks unfinished. Even the under sections of his shoulders while being all painted in black. I
08:55think first of all the black is a nice way to finish off the look of it. So it does give it
08:58that true look of a bust statue, but also as well like that's sculpted in there too. Some would have
09:03preferred if that base be more smoother. I kind of like the coarser look of it because it looks
09:08like it's been cast in stone. Also the base itself does have some nice details, mostly done here in
09:14silver. You may see also there as well some missiles on the sides. There's some pipes. There's
09:18a lot of good stuff to look at here. And of course front and center is the green behemoth himself.
09:22Things that I really like, and I'm a big fan of this, is that the Hulk has the larger caterpillar
09:27eyebrows. You got the underdeveloped brow that he has on his forehead. And of course the hairstyle
09:32that even Moe from the Three Stooges would envy. Could this statue work as well for a gray release?
09:37I think yes. Had though they decide to do that, I think they'd have to consider maybe retooling the
09:42sides of his hair. Because we all know when it comes to the release of the Gray Hulk, the sides
09:46of his head would be more shaved. He really only has the hair on the top of his head. Could this
09:50also be released as a Red Hulk release? Yes. I think what you're probably picking up right now
09:54is that I like the statue a lot, and I would like to see it be released in more examples than just
09:59the green. Again this guy was sold out in some of the avenues. One good news though, as I was
10:04checking around other online sites, Entertainment Earth right now has this statue as a back order
10:10pre-order. That means when it eventually gets restocked it's going to be selling for $249.99.
10:16If you guys are interested, because again like this was a limited run of only a thousand pieces
10:19worldwide, Entertainment Earth, like I said, I will provide the link down below in the video
10:23description. You can click on that. You can pre-order this statue so when it does get stocked
10:27it'll be shipped right to your door. A big thank you once again to the folks over at
