00:00Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian did not consent to the entry of the Orient Pacific Corporation vehicle into the EDSA busway.
00:09He refused to comment on the question if it is possible for him to have the plate 7 that is attached to the SUV.
00:16We have first news, Joseph Morong.
00:21The driver of this controversial white luxury vehicle explained to the Land Transportation Office
00:27that he was sick and rushed to the EDSA busway's northbound lane on Sunday night.
00:33But the MMDA's CCTV footage showed that the traffic was not heavy outside the busway at that time.
00:40The driver was fined P1,000.
00:43Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said that they are investigating the incident to find out if there is additional compensation
00:49by using the SUV as the protocol plate 7 for the senator.
00:53Upon the driver's request, the vehicle of the owner of the Orient Pacific Corporation,
00:58the company led by Kenneth Tang Gatchalian, ran a congressman in Valenzuela.
01:03He is a brother of Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian.
01:05Is he your brother? Or is he your half-brother?
01:08The documents are already in the LTO. So, let's just leave it in the LTO.
01:13Is it possible for you to have the plate, but you used it instead?
01:17Let's just leave it in the LTO, guys.
01:20In a statement, Gatchalian said that he does not consent to the traffic violation of the Orient Pacific Corporation.
01:26He plans to call for a hearing on the issue, Sen. Rafi Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Services.
01:32The DOTR is studying some changes in the EDSA busway,
01:36especially since it's becoming a burden for those who want to escape the traffic in EDSA.
01:40There is also a reduction in the protocol plates being issued to government officials.
01:45Two protocol plates are being given to each senator.
01:49The plates are to be used only by the officials.
01:57It's the decision of the SP, and I think the SP will know the best.
02:02The Department of Transportation has also considered reversing the EDSA busway.
02:07For example, instead of accompanying the EDSA bus,
02:11the northbound vehicles will use the EDSA busway.
02:15This is so that the carousel will not get in the way.
02:19The busway is exclusive for the buses, for public utility vehicles.
02:27The bus door is on the right side, so there are safety considerations.
02:35It's easier, so it's not hard for people to get in.
02:38If the passengers are directed, there will be no problem.
02:43They are talking to the companies that operate the busway
02:46and it may be decided if it will continue before the end of the year.
02:50This is the first news. Joseph Maurong for GMA Integrated News.
