00:00I'm really concerned that, perhaps fundamentally on health and safety, that the steps are unsafe.
00:07There are gaps between the steps, so I think in technical terms there's no riser, and so
00:16your foot can go between the steps and you do yourself a rather nasty injury.
00:22It's solid enough underfoot, but you don't feel particularly safe, and of course if it's
00:28pouring with rain, you're in a most vulnerable position.
00:32It's in very poor structural, it's rusting, it hasn't been painted for years, it has no
00:39roof on the stairs or the actual bridge over the tracks, so it's in a fairly poor condition.
00:47One of the problems is it's not a bridge in a country area, it's used by hundreds of people
00:53every day as one of the main walks from the station into the centre of Deal.
01:01Well there are gaps in it, and the slats are not wide enough to put your feet on.
01:08You need to hold on coming down, it's quite dangerous.
01:11I think it needs a bit of a lick of paint and a bit of TLC, but it's solid, and I don't
01:16think it's dangerous at all.
01:18And you mentioned something about it was bombed during the war?
01:21So I read, yeah, that there's some bullet holes on it, so there's a bit of history there,
01:26so they just need to look after it a little bit.
01:29Well I've travelled across it many times, and it's never even occurred to me it's unsafe.
01:34So I can't really see the reasoning behind that.
01:36I agree with Matt, it's lick of paint, and it could look a bit better I suppose, if it
01:40could be really for nicotine.
