00:00My name's Richard Henderson, I am the owner and person that runs the Dorothy Pax, which is a grassroots music venue here in the fantastic city of Sheffield.
00:10What does the Dorothy Pax offer?
00:13Things like this. So we programme loads of free events but also some ticketed events, we programme live music and we'd like to welcome everybody to Sheffield, come down and catch a gig.
00:24There's always a gig on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock and it's always free.
00:28What makes this venue special in Sheffield?
00:32It's got the best PA in the city, but also the artists that play here and the technicians that earn their living here and what makes it special? The people of Sheffield make my venue special.
00:46Fantastic. You've been here for seven years now?
00:50Yes.
00:51And what is the current climate like for you?
00:54It's really tough for all independents and businesses in Sheffield at the moment and the UK as a whole. Obviously with the cost of living crisis, people's available money or disposable money is a lot less than it has been previously.
01:08So we urge you all to come down and buy a pint if you're in a position to do so.
01:13We have just gone live with the Patreon scheme so if you value the arts and want to keep music alive and free of course in Sheffield and you've got a spare quid, pledges of quid would be a real help and that is going to offset the cost of our free performances.
