Acer in GITEX Global 2024
Transcript
00:00First of all, how could Gitex miss Acer, and how could we miss Gitex?
00:12It's a fantastic show, it's representative of the top of the notch of the technology
00:18in the region, and Acer being one of the main PC vendors, and not only as I will explain
00:26you later, is having a good representation towards the show.
00:31Riding on the AI bandwagon, we have launched our consumer and commercial AI laptops in
00:36the Gitex, which comes across all the flavors now.
00:40So you have an AMD option, you have a Qualcomm option, you have an Intel option.
00:44On the screen size as well, you can choose from 14 to 16 inches.
00:47And on commercial side, same AI laptop, we are introducing on TMP6, which is less than
00:521kg and comes with a dedicated graphics as well.
00:55If you go to the gaming side, we have very interesting products.
00:58So we introduced our first gaming handheld device, which is called Nitroglaze 7.
01:03And we also launched in Middle East now, two products which were launched in Berlin last
01:11month in IFA Berlin, which is Nitro V14 and Nitro V16.
01:15Both are on display here and we want all the consumers to come and have a feel of the products.
01:21And one of the stars of the showcase is the Predator Extreme.
01:28When you come to our stand, this is the first thing that you see when you visit our stand.
01:33And everybody has been going crazy about and asking us questions, you know, from where
01:37they can buy it.
01:38This is our first product, which we are launching as an off-road e-scooter.
01:44A lot of people are showing, you know, interest in it.
01:48And hopefully, we will be able to, you know, put them in the retail stores very soon.
01:54Middle East is a very exciting region.
01:58There is no moment in which you don't find new demand, new opportunities.
02:06Whenever something slows down, you have another country increasing in their own GDP, the economy
02:12is keeping on changing scenarios.
02:14So this gives to us the possibility to fulfill kind of different markets, being them entry
02:22markets, mid-range markets, or very high-end markets.
02:27Educational is our serious commitment to our commercial.
02:32We are very proud to be supplying to the kids our devices in order for them to learn and
02:39grow older.
02:41I believe Middle East is really the most exciting region in this moment.
02:47Economy, despite some turmoils, is growing, never stopping.
02:52It's full of gaming enthusiasts, and Acer is fitting very well into this territory.
02:58Acer's commitment to the Middle East goes beyond just supply of devices.
03:05We again, and I'm repeating myself a little bit, but we have a worldwide policy towards
03:10looking after the environment.
03:12We are in a region where energy is probably the single biggest revenue resource here.
03:18So we have an opportunity to have some really meaningful discussions with the energy sector
03:25in terms of how we can most effectively assist, in terms of the devices we're providing, most
03:34effectively assist the reduction of the energy challenges we have today.
03:42So let's be fair, a lot of people have some sort of sustainable goals.
03:48It's nothing new.
03:49We're not special in doing that.
03:51Where I'd like to believe we're a little different in the Middle East is we're trying to engage
03:57with all the stakeholders, not just government, but going into schools, talking about greening
04:02policies in schools, talking about sustainable devices.
04:06Now, unfortunately, a sustainable device is a little bit more expensive because of the
04:11way 20%, 30% at the moment, we're sitting somewhere between 20 and 30% recycled plastics
04:18on our devices.
04:20Our touchpads are entirely made of ocean bound plastics.
04:25So in terms of Acer capitalizing on that, we've got our devices looking towards being
04:30as environmentally sustainable as they can be.
04:36We are looking at our chain of manufacture, our chain of logistics, our chain of supply
04:43and every single area, 75% of the energy put into a device happens in the manufacturing
04:52and the logistics phase.
04:53So if we can tighten that up, that's where we believe we're making a difference.
04:58The other area that I think we're making a difference is that we are actively engaging,
05:05not just government, but private enterprises, private schools, private corporates, whether
05:13it's 10 people or 5,000 people.
05:16One of the strengths of Acer is we go and talk to the small and medium business.
05:20We're not only focused on the large corporates, and I think that's one of the things we're
05:24bringing into the Middle East.
05:27Middle East and Africa is one of the regions that always have room for growth.
05:38This region has a lot of youth people, more than 50%, more than 60% of people are less
05:47than 35 years old.
05:49It's a very large population and Acer, in Acer, always regarded this region with a special
05:57attention.
05:58You know that we are the first company to establish itself in the free zone in UAE in
06:051992.
06:08The authorities used to invite people to come and see our facility in order to attract more
06:15and more IT companies to come and establish their headquarters in the Middle East.
06:21So we are very proud that we could help the UAE in its growth of revenue and all the economy
06:28of the Middle East.
06:29We are very proud to be here and we are very pleased to produce all these new technologies
06:36and innovative technologies of Acer in the region itself.
06:41Whenever there is a new thing that Acer happens, UAE is always and the region is always the
06:49first country to embrace these new products and buy these new products.
