00:00This is London. You will now hear a statement by the Prime Minister.
00:09I am speaking to you from the cabinet room at 10 Downing Street.
00:17This morning, the British ambassador in Berlin handed the German government a final note,
00:25stating that unless we heard from them by 11 o'clock,
00:31that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland,
00:36a state of war would exist between us.
00:41I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received,
00:47and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.
