00:00Ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, nearly two dozen US states
00:06have banned or limited access to abortion.
00:09Without a nationwide constitutional right to the procedure, the decision has been left
00:14to individual states.
00:15The 2024 election is now an opportunity for voters in 10 states to have their say.
00:21Passing certain amendments in Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota would
00:26likely lead to undoing abortion bans or restrictions, and it's played a huge part in the Democratic
00:32Party's campaign.
00:33It is a fight for freedom, like the fundamental freedom of a woman to make decisions about
00:41her own body and not have her government tell her what to do.
00:48For the Democrats, it's also an issue that plays in their favour.
00:50They know healthcare and abortion rank high on their supporters' list of priorities.
00:55It means those ballot measures could spur turnout for a range of crucial races, particularly
01:00among women and young voters.
01:03The Republican Party is more divided on the issue, and Donald Trump has sought to adopt
01:07a more cautious stance.
01:08His go-to response is that the decision should be left to each state.
01:12As women outpace men in early turnout, Trump continues to court female voters in his own
01:17way.
01:18And my people told me about four weeks ago, I would say, no, I want to protect the people.
01:22I want to protect the women of our country.
01:24I want to protect the women.
01:25Sir, please don't say that.
01:27Why?
01:28They said, sir, I just think it's inappropriate for you to say.
01:30I've paid these guys a lot of money.
01:32Can you believe it?
01:33I said, well, I'm going to do it whether the women like it or not.
01:37I'm going to protect them.
01:39He says he'll protect them from immigrants, border control being a much more pressing
01:43issue for Republicans, one that also tends to pay off at the ballot box.
