00:00I'm all in, Stony.
00:02I am in the pool wet.
00:04By the way, there was one other part about the Sam Amick story that I found very interesting,
00:10and to me it left something to be figured out.
00:16Sam Amick reported that the Warriors offered Kuminga 30-ish, and Anthony Slater did the
00:24same.
00:26But he said, but they weren't close, and that Kuminga wanted in the 35 range.
00:34That doesn't sound far apart to me.
00:3630 and 35?
00:38Right.
00:39A 35 doesn't sound that far from a 30, but here we are.
00:47And this is a dream for me, Stony, as a lifelong Golden State Warrior fan, that this is what
00:53sports talk is about, right?
00:56Part of it is dreaming, but we've been focused, and there's been noise about Curry and Giannis
01:04years ago.
01:05And now if you're telling me that we already know we have factoids, proof that they went
01:12big game hunting over the summer, didn't come up with anything, and now the default could
01:18possibly be Giannis, I would gut my team.
01:22But I'm really not gutting it if I don't take the brains and heart and soul away with
01:27your Dre, Steph, and what did you mention, TJD?
01:33You still, I mean, Stony, this is, man, if they could pull this off.
01:37Now you're talking about not just Steph and Giannis, you're talking about life without
01:42Steph to where you would build around Giannis.
01:46He's 30, he's not 24.
01:48Yeah, but he ain't 34.
01:50Well.
01:51And look at his body.
01:53I know he had an injury, but Stony, he's already a champ, and I gotta believe what I watched
01:57last night, that's getting stale and old to him.
02:02But maybe he was the one that told Milwaukee, who cares, to make that trade and swap Dame
02:07for Drew.
02:08They have no defense intensity at all.
02:11We had Geltz Eiler on yesterday, and he was saying they couldn't guard, and the new Anthony
02:16Davis street clothes is Middleton.
02:20It's rotting away for him in Milwaukee, Stony.
02:23Let's go to, let's start out with Ike in Springville.
02:27Ike.
02:28Ike in Springville.
02:29Where's Springville, Ike?
02:30Springville is about an hour and a half below Fresno, probably about an hour above Bakersfield.
02:38I'm out in the woods, man.
02:39Hey, I hate to disagree with you guys, because you guys are really good at analyzing.
02:51Players and everything, but my mind says, OK, but my gut says no.
02:57I say no.
02:59Why?
03:00Why?
03:01Because finally, Coach Kerr has found a way to get all the guys involved.
03:08There's no one that's saying, well, I'm not getting my minutes.
03:11He's saying, hey, we're just going to lay it all out on the table.
03:15Everybody plays.
03:16I think he got that from coaching the USA team, you know, where everybody played and
03:21he said, hey, I'll bring it home.
03:23So no, we're not going to trade nobody.
03:27All right.
03:28Thank you, Ike, and appreciate you listening from outside Bakersfield.
03:31He said the woods.
03:32And as Raymond Ritter once said, you know what they call Bakersfield, Lakersfield.
03:38Now that's, I think that's where their affiliate is, their G League, right?
03:42Yeah.
03:44My Aunt Glenda lived in God rest her soul in Bakersfield.
03:46I hated it.
03:47Why?
03:48It was hot.
03:49Nothing to do.
03:50Yeah.
03:51Yeah.
03:52Bakersfield used to be all Lakers, but I think in the last 10 years, they've gotten
03:56their share of Warrior fans, obviously.
03:57Well, I'll say this to his point.
03:59I'm not arguing.
04:01He's in euphoria.
04:02He's in the honeymoon stages right now.
04:03Ralph Cramden.
04:04Because.
04:05Who?
04:06The caller.
04:07Oh.
04:08Because right now, the 12 deep, you're 4-1.
04:09It looks great.
04:12There's going to come, I believe, a juncture of this season where we're going to be like,
04:16hey, hey, Warriors are, hey, I like it.
04:184-5 succeed.
04:19To me, you get Giannis Stoddy.
04:21This puts you.
04:22OKC is trembling.
04:23Am I?
04:24That's what he represents to me.
04:27All right.
04:28Warrior fans.
04:29Am I?
04:30I don't know what the word would be, nitpicking, or am I getting too in the weeds if I say
04:34Giannis, Draymond, Trace Jackson Davis.
04:41You don't have any shooting in that.
04:43A buddy.
04:44You've still got a buddy.
04:45Right.
04:46But in those three spots, can you really play with just two shooters?
04:49Let's put that right on the table.
04:50I'm just saying.
04:51I'm asking.
04:52In this NBA.
04:53Ponce is in 20%-3 right now.
04:54Comingas at 18.
04:55Like, what shooters would be leaving?
04:58And I love both of those youngsters, but.
05:00Wiggins.
05:01Wiggins would be leaving.
05:02All right.
05:03Well.
05:04Melton's got a three-point shot.
05:05He's got a back issue, too, Stoddy.
05:07Yeah.
05:08I don't like that flaring up early.
05:09I mean, we see how the NBA's going these days with the three-pointers.
05:13But Giannis is.
05:14Give me this, partner.
05:15Giannis is.
05:16No.
05:17I'll give you that.
05:18He's one of a kind.
05:19I'll give you that, too.
05:20He's incredible, man.
05:21And I think he's, you know, when you don't get there, Stoddy, and go deep, almost an
05:26afterthought.
05:27Oh, Joe Lakeup, if you could pull this off.
05:31It'd be Mike Dunleavy.
05:34He'd get the credit.
05:35Dunleavy set this table perfectly.
05:39Up to this point.
05:40But you can give Joe Lakeup credit.
05:42Josh in Tucson.
05:45What's going on, Josh?
05:46How you doing, man?
05:47Good.
05:48Good.
05:49As always, love you guys.
05:50Love the show.
05:52Love the excitement.
05:53I think if you're able to get Giannis, you know, if he's willing to come to the Dubs,
05:56I think you have to take a swing.
05:58I think you have to.
05:59I think, you know, it's the one superstar that I think you could really extend, you
06:06know, the last three, you know, maybe four, if Steph really extends his career down to
06:12the wire.
06:13But I think you have to, I think you have to take a swing.
06:16Giannis, he's an MVP, he's won a defensive player of the year, he scored 50 in a game
06:22six.
06:23In a closeout game.
06:24Out of this world.
06:25Yes, sir.
06:26That was an incredible game.
06:27In a closeout game six.
06:28And I think you have to do it.
06:30I mean, you're, and I love this, I love this new look, 12 warriors all doing their thing.
06:37But you know, if this team gets to the playoffs, you're not, you're not running 12 guys, you're
06:41not having a 12 man rotation in the playoffs.
06:44And I think you have to do it and let the chips fall if he's willing to come here.
06:49Thanks, as always, guys, go Dubs.
06:50Yeah, thanks, Josh.
06:51Appreciate the call.
06:52And you know what?
06:53Nobody cares.
06:54I guess nobody cares about three unprotected firsts.
06:57I think a bird in the hand is better than three in the bush.
07:03You like that?
07:04What are you going to say that you made that up?
07:07I was about to, but I'll stop.
07:10That was too obvious.
07:11I'll say this.
07:12I love hard.
07:13And I was the kid, Stonnie and Evan, you know, mom, put that back, boy, because my eyes got
07:18big in the department stores and the grocery store.
07:20Stonnie, when I watch him tomorrow, I'm gonna be thinking about Giannis.
07:24So I need to get that out of my system because, right, these are reports.
07:29But I really think it's a road in Milwaukee for him.
07:32And then what did you say yesterday where he made the comment and he could have just
07:35been joshing?
07:36You know, if we don't win, they'll trade me.
07:40I just feel like he's, you know, he ain't meant to be in Milwaukee his whole career.
07:45I don't know.
07:47And listen, if you're asking me how I feel, I mean, can you really say, well, we have
07:52a chance to get Giannis, but you know what?
07:55We're going to pass on it.
07:56I'm not that naive to not want to do it, right?
08:02But it's it'll it'll come at a big cost.
08:05It'll it'll single handedly change the the future of the organization because you're
08:15going to have two guys making 60.
08:18You're going to have no picks down the line every other year.
08:22Again, let me be clear, I'm not walking away from it, but I'm going to give you the old
08:28guru.
08:29Oh, boy.
08:31But you know what?
08:34Sometimes the best decisions are the hardest ones to make.
08:36Yeah.
08:37And how did those picks work when you had when you landed Durant after you went and
08:40recruited them?
08:41And they were Jordan Bales of the world.
08:43You know what I mean?
08:45because you were playing long in the deep end of the season.
08:48So if you got Giannis, you got action, you got a chance at multiple championships.
08:53I'm I'm sorry, I'm I'm I'm risking the picks of what could be for the known.
09:00Let's go to Murillo in Petaluma.
09:03What's up, Murillo?
09:04How you doing?
09:05What's up, guys?
09:06Good morning.
09:07Good talking to you.
09:08Hey, before I go to my horse, if I can sneak in a shout out to the
09:15San Francisco youth soccer playoffs around the corner, let's go excitement around.
09:20So on the Warriors, tiny, it's a no brainer.
09:24I like the they have the suggestion because and here's the thing, between Jimmy and Giannis,
09:32I'm a no on Jimmy.
09:33I'd rather keep what we have if the option is Jimmy.
09:35But if Giannis is out there, I think we should go for it.
09:38The problem I have with the trade efforts that have been suggested is.
09:43There's no point guard left to back staff staff up.
09:47So we will have to find somebody on the market unless there's somebody coming on the trade
09:51as well.
09:52So that's the only problem I have with the suggestion, because come on, tiny.
09:58You said you have four more years on the radio.
10:00Why are you worried about 2031?
10:03These drafts are so unpredictable, man.
10:05I don't even know who was picked top five last year.
10:08To be honest with you, because it's so Alexander Sarr.
10:11No.
10:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:13He is.
10:14Yeah.
10:15And the kid and the hawk, the kid at the hospital is good, too.
10:18So now let's go.
10:20So that's my point.
10:21If Giannis wants to come, let's go with him.
10:24If not, I'm keeping what we have.
10:25Thank you, guys.
10:26Have a good weekend.
10:27Yeah.
10:28Let me be clear.
10:29I'm not saying I'm out.
10:30Yeah, I got it.
10:32I'm not saying I'm out.
10:34I'm not saying that.
10:35I'm just saying, you know how I feel about just throwing out three, four first round
10:43picks.
10:44I get it.
10:45You never know who they're going to be.
10:49But how did the Durant era, how did that work out?
10:52What do you mean?
10:53It worked out.
10:54You should have won three in a row.
10:55But like, it was worth it, right?
10:58And I know this will probably be a steeper price, but it changed it.
11:00How many picks did the Warriors give up in the Durant deal?
11:04I don't think that many, right?
11:05Wait, well, they signed Durant as a free agent.
11:08So they didn't have to give up any picks for Durant.
11:13But it was a dynasty.
11:17You went to three straight, four straight.
11:19But you didn't give up anything for them.
11:20I mean, I think it ended up being a sign of trade, actually.
11:23But the point is taken.
11:26Well, they had to basically give up Harrison Barnes.
11:30The Black Falcon.
11:31And Bogut, I think.
11:32F them picks, Steini.
11:34Man.
11:36All right.
11:36I don't know if you're going to be able to talk me into it.
11:37And the line's going to be around the corner.
11:39I don't know if you're going to be able to talk me into it today.
11:41Yeah.
11:44But you love y'all pods.
11:47We love you.
11:48He'll be back home.
11:50See ya.
11:50Milwaukee.
11:51Yeah, that's true.
11:52Milwaukee.
11:53That's true.
11:54Yeah.
11:55Let's go to Vin is in Danville.
11:58What's going on, Vin?
11:59How you doing?
12:00Vinny.
12:00Man.
12:01I'm doing good.
12:02Thanks for taking the call, fellas.
12:05Hey, that Giannis deal.
12:07They got to do it.
12:09I think it was you, Steini, the other day,
12:11saying you didn't believe in this 12, 13-man rotation.
12:14That curve was rolling out.
12:17I think they got a bunch of C-plus, B-minus players.
12:21They need to condense four or five of those guys down,
12:24get an A-minus, A-plus player, something like that,
12:27whatever you want to grade it.
12:28And they got to go in.
12:29They're going to maximize the window.
12:31And when it comes to the playoffs,
12:33that one coach said it best.
12:35I'm going to botch it.
12:36But it's something like eight, trust seven, and play six.
12:40We're not going to need 13 guys in the playoffs.
12:43You know what I'm saying?
12:44No, that I agree with.
12:46That I agree with, Vin.
12:47Rotation is shrinking the offs.
12:50Thanks, Vin.
12:50I appreciate the call.
12:52Vin is in.
12:54You're into.
12:55No, I like.
12:57He's not right on the 12-man rotation.
13:00I think it can work.
13:01I do think in the playoffs, if you get that far,
13:05yeah, then that advantage kind of goes away
13:07of playing 12 guys.
13:08I think that can work over the course of the season
13:10if it's handled right.
13:11But I agree with you that if you go into the playoffs
13:16with Giannis and Curry, I'd probably
13:18rather have that than having a 12-man rotation.
13:21We had Brian Geldseiler's series XM-NBA radio on yesterday.
13:25And we asked him, well, why didn't the Warriors
13:27extend Kuminga?
13:28What happened there?
13:29The reason I don't think they extended him
13:32is because if this is going well this year,
13:34as they come into the trade deadline
13:36and a star player is available, they're
13:38going to lead a package with Jonathan Kuminga.
13:41There's a reason that Mike Dunleavy pieced together
13:45these $10 million contracts in the way that he did.
13:48Melton Anderson healed.
13:50You can put all these together with someone like Kuminga
13:54and bring in a $40 million player.
13:58And I think the Warriors have their picks
14:00to be able to do that.
14:01They want to be prepared to do that.
14:03Kuminga is a lead piece in a deal like this.
14:06They could not put Kuminga in a deal
14:09if they sign him to a contract extension
14:12right now, to an early contract extension.
14:14He will be poison-pilled the entire season.
14:17The one thing I will say is, and the reason
14:21I would probably lean toward you have to do it,
14:23is because the reality of the situation
14:25is the strategy for the last year
14:29has been put together, you know, go after Paul George.
14:34Didn't work.
14:34I'm glad.
14:35Go after Marconin.
14:36Didn't work.
14:37I'm glad.
14:38But now put together a roster, after you
14:40don't get those guys, of players who are attractive in a trade.
14:46And so when I look at, like, Steve Kerr referenced it.
14:49Mike Dunleavy's referenced it before this season.
14:52And we feel like the roster's in a really good spot
14:55where if something is out there, we'll be able to capitalize.
14:59So it's already part of their strategy
15:05to think about going down that road
15:07and to go down that road if it pops up.
15:09So, you know, I don't know why I'm excited.
15:14I am excited.
15:15I don't know why you're excited either,
15:16because you were the guy who two weeks ago said, Stein,
15:19I don't like going into the season
15:21and thinking about, well, we're going to make a trade.
15:26Oh my gosh, because we didn't identify what you needed
15:30would be, but this is a whale.
15:33Giannis, 30-11-5 on the early season.
15:37Already an NBA champion.
15:38Stein, if I get another text saying he's 30 years old,
15:41who cares?
15:42His body's like 25, 26.
15:45I'll say this about Kaminga.
15:46If you're right what you just said a few minutes ago.
15:49I'll let you go.
15:50Where they tried to get that number down, man, if he knew,
15:54or he should have, if I take a little less,
15:57it'll be more difficult for them to move me.
16:00That would incentivize me to do that just from that standpoint.
16:04The fact that you didn't do it at all,
16:07now you could be trade bait.
16:09You know, I mean, the one thing we haven't heard mentioned,
16:15but maybe that's part of the equation.
16:17Maybe one of the reasons Kaminga didn't sign
16:20a long-term contract was he wants to keep his options open
16:24because maybe he doesn't want to be here.
16:27Wow, man.
16:28Wow, Stein.
16:29I don't know that, but maybe that went into his thought
16:35process.
16:37888-957-9570 is the number.
16:41We're putting two and two together here.
16:43One is more and more smoke coming out of Milwaukee.
16:46They're one and four.
16:47Doc Rivers, what are you doing?
16:50Everybody who's got a national NBA show,
16:53Giannis' name is the one that's coming up right now.
16:57And to take it one step further, Sam Amick and John Hollinger
17:01of the Athletic had this line in their story today.
17:05Rival executives believe the Warriors are more willing
17:07than ever to include Jonathan Kaminga in a trade
17:10of significant magnitude.
17:13So I believe it.
17:17I mean, I have to tell you,
17:18I do believe it.
17:19I do, too.
17:20But I also believe that it's going to have to be a deal
17:23that the Golden State Warriors think is to their way
17:27of thinking a no-brainer.
17:28Right.
17:29So we'll see.
17:30Do you have a problem with me or anybody out there
17:34taking this to the next level in regard to,
17:38we talked about Jordan Poole.
17:40There was a night, Stiney, or there were games
17:42where I thought he might be the successor to Steph Curry.
17:46He's not Steph, but he had that cathedral jumping.
17:49I was like, oh my gosh.
17:51Then I thought it might be Kaminga.
17:53Then I thought it might be Wiseman.
17:55This was before we found out.
17:57But Stiney, if somehow you pull this off and get Giannis,
18:01do you have a problem with me saying he's next?
18:04Curry would pass the baton to Giannis.
18:08Well, if you want to say that one of the reasons
18:13you would give up the picks is because, well, look,
18:17I mean, we drafted Kaminga and we're going to trade him.
18:19And we drafted Wiseman and he didn't work out.
18:21We drafted Moody and he's okay.
18:24Well, what if I said those were Bob Meyer's picks?
18:28That Mike Dunleavy in his short track, like, I get it.
18:33We're talking about a superstar though.
18:35No, I get it.
18:36But what I'm saying is, let's not dismiss the picks
18:40if we really think Mike Dunleavy knows how to judge talent.
18:45Then the odds are more likely
18:47that he'll find guys in the draft.
18:50Just throwing that into the equation.
18:52888-957-9570 is the number.
18:58Giannis Antetokounmpo, yes or no?
19:01Man.
19:02I was surprised.
19:03I thought most people would be absolutely positively
19:07let's do it.
19:08Are you getting some stuff and saying no?
19:11Yeah, Bonte's a little skeptical of it.
19:13Bonte's a little skeptical of it.
19:15But I do, you know, there's part of it
19:17where you think you got to.
19:19I mean, if you have an opportunity, you got to do it.
19:21I get it.
19:23And if they did it, I wouldn't be like,
19:24oh my gosh, this team is in big trouble.
19:28Well, give us the synopsis on where you think Giannis
19:31is at on an individual basis in his career right now.
19:34Because I got to give you credit, Steiner.
19:36You were once the first, but you love Giannis early.
19:39He's great.
19:40But do you feel like he's slipping, or like?
19:43I feel like he's still really good.
19:45And if he could do the, I'm using, he's great.
19:47He's a great player.
19:48What if he was LeBron and got 10 more years
19:50out of that body?
19:51You got him for 10 more?
19:53Yeah.
19:55You know what's funny is, and that's the other thing
19:59about the NBA right now that is really to me a coin flip
20:03is, well, what if Giannis is LeBron James
20:06and he's got 10 more years?
20:08Well, that's great.
20:09But players, most players in today's day and age
20:16are not playing a lot as they get older.
20:19They're playing less and less and less.
20:21I mean, we're just seeing it with most of the players
20:24who are getting up there.
20:25Paul George hasn't played yet.
20:27Embiid hasn't played yet.
20:28Curry has missed a couple games already.
20:32That's all, I'm just bringing up info
20:35that I want to throw out there.
20:37How many games would you guess if I said,
20:39how many did Giannis play last year?
20:41And I know he's still young, but.
20:4365?
20:4473.
20:45That's good.
20:46I mean, that's a full season in this day and age.
20:49Oh, I'm sorry, 510 saying Bate was out on Butler,
20:52not Giannis.
20:53Oh yeah, I'm out on Butler too.
20:55And the hairstyle.
20:57I'm not out on Giannis, but I do think we have to discuss
21:01reasonably all the things it's going to cost.
21:04And, you know, are you a championship team
21:08with Curry, Moody, Heald, Giannis, Draymond,
21:11TJD, Anderson, Lindy Waters?
21:15No, I love them all.
21:16I don't know.
21:18I don't know if that's a championship team.
21:20I don't.
21:21Oh, right, right, right.
21:23But I'd love to find out.
21:24Well.
21:25I'm sorry.
21:26How do we know this isn't a top four seeded team right now?
21:29As is.
21:31Yeah.
21:32I don't know.
21:33I think if you had people to come to the counter
21:35and bet because we haven't seen it enough yet, Stoney,
21:38we'd be like scratching our head.
21:39I don't know.
21:40But if you're telling me you can get an NBA champion
21:43still in his prime to go with what you already have
21:46with Steph and Dray, four time champ, Looney?
21:51Looney. Buddy.
21:52Looney's playing, man.
21:53Against second.
21:55What?
21:56Second unit guys is when he's really playing.
21:57I wish he was in here.
21:58You wouldn't have that.
21:59Of course I would.
22:00Looney's playing his ass off and he worked on his body.
22:03But then you're going to say,
22:04why did he have to work on it?
22:06No, that's what the boss says.
22:08He doesn't understand why we let Looney off the hook
22:12for being out of shape last year.
22:14And it's because we love Kevon Looney.
22:16But what if he bulked up to try to throw the stuff around?
22:20The bricks in the pocket.
22:21Don't make excuses for him.
22:23He was heavy last year.
22:25You are incredible.
22:26Don't do that.
22:27I got a big ass.
22:29I do.
22:30We're going to play that all next week, man.
