00:00I'm looking at this dude for tonight and I don't know exactly how we're going to be talking
00:08about this dude.
00:09I do think he is going to be involved in this game one way or going either way.
00:16And that dude I'm talking about that I got my eye on, the guy I'm looking at, I'm on,
00:20I'm challenging, I'm calling out is Derrick Stingley Jr.
00:25I know a couple of weeks ago, Clint, his stock was down for you.
00:29And last week, again, and I'll be honest, this is something that has occurred for him
00:35several times this year where he has just been fortunate that receivers and quarterbacks
00:40have not been able to connect on plays that would be big plays that have gotten away from
00:45him.
00:46A.D. Mitchell, who I thought was going to run his helmet and throw it into the stands
00:50on multiple occasions as he beat him on just outside routes, on fade routes to the outside,
01:00and Anthony Richardson couldn't connect.
01:02Well, that is one of Aaron Rodgers, if not Aaron Rodgers' favorite throw.
01:08Doesn't need a lot of protection for that, and he loves to put it up, and him and Devontae
01:12Adams have perfected it, and him and Garrett Wilson do it too.
01:16They connected multiple times last week against the Patriots.
01:19But Derrick Stingley has some of the best ball skills of any corner in the league.
01:25And you could see, Clint, Aaron Rodgers throwing those up and Derrick Stingley coming down
01:31with some picks.
01:32We've seen him do it.
01:33We saw him do it against Chicago with Caleb Williams.
01:36We've seen him do it in his time here.
01:39But which Derrick Stingley are we going to be talking about?
01:41Are you and Sean going to be talking about after the game, and we're going to be talking
01:44about at home run dugout?
01:47Is it the Derrick Stingley, the good Derrick Stingley?
01:49Is it the Derrick Stingley that you throw a ball near him, he picks it up, all of them.
01:55All right, he got beat, and we've seen him kind of get beat a few times, and this is
01:59another example of him getting beat by Aaron Rodgers.
02:03Because Aaron is as rough as he's been this year.
02:08That particular route, Clint, as you know, that's one, as you would say, he could throw
02:14in his sleep.
02:15And not miss as many times as Anthony Richardson has, or others have missed.
02:20So Derrick Stingley is one that I'm really watching, because I think he's going to be
02:24heavily involved in this game one way or another.
02:26Yeah, look, I think when you look at the Minnesota-
02:28I'm literally looking up at the TV, and I'm seeing the same route.
02:32Exactly what I'm talking about.
02:34Just three in a row they have just shown.
02:35Well, I mean, look, you look at the Minnesota game, you look at the Green Bay game, and
02:38then the Jets game.
02:39I think those are the three games this year, and I may be leaving one off, but look, those
02:43are the three games where you've got a quarterback that can make it happen, and you've got a
02:48wide receiver group that's dangerous, that's potent, that can be really, really, really
02:53good.
02:54Not just, well, this guy's a pretty good player.
02:55No, you've got a quarterback that's going to take the risk, you've got a quarterback
02:59that can make all the throws, and you've got receivers that can absolutely do work out
03:02there.
03:03And the playing soft the entire game and letting them throw the ball underneath, Aaron's going
03:09to do that.
03:10Right?
03:11I mean, I don't know that we've seen, have we seen a team this year that just from a
03:16nickel and dime standpoint of just taking that quick stuff, the now throws, the slants,
03:20the underneath stuff?
03:21I mean, the Packers.
03:22The Packers do it, but the defense was able to disrupt him, it seemed like, turn the football
03:29over.
03:30And Aaron very well may do that as well.
03:31But the slants and stuff were there, especially for the Packers.
03:34You think that Stingley's going to be able to just sit back, and Kamari Lassiter for
03:38that matter is going to be able to just sit back and survive, because I think Aaron and
03:44this group, they're going to take advantage of that and force them to come up and press
03:48or play cover too.
03:50And so, yeah, I mean, I think this is a game for Derek Stingley to shine.
03:54I think this is a game where he's really going to get challenged, and it's a game for him
03:58to get up in somebody's face and not just give, I'm going to tell you.
04:01That's what I was going to say.
04:02He is going to get challenged.
04:03He is going to, there are going to be multiple fade routes, and I'm sure he is ready for
04:07it.
04:09But like I said, you could see it going either way.
04:10I could see him getting multiple picks on those plays, or you could see him getting
04:14beat.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Look, I just want to see it.
04:17You know, the whole, like, for whatever reason, I can't get to Green Bay, the last defensive
04:24possession when Green Bay went down and kicked the field goal.
04:26I just-
04:27He was laying soft.
04:28I can't get that out of my head of Derek Stingley.
04:31Four straight plays, they went to his side of the field, and four straight plays, him
04:36being soft, two of which they went to literally the receiver he was on.
04:39We're saying soft coverage.
04:40Soft coverage, yes.
04:41Not him as a project.
04:42And the other two, they went underneath, because he was so soft, he allowed, the read was blatantly
04:48obvious to the quarterback.
04:49I mean, it's, like, it can't be that easy when they choose to work to the side of Derek
04:53Stingley.
04:54It just simply can't.
04:56And this is one of those teams where you can't afford to do it.
05:00There's a lot of quarterbacks out there that Texans have played and will play that you
05:04can afford to get away with that stuff, because they're, for whatever reason, them or the
05:08offense is not capable of taking advantage of it.
05:10This isn't one of them.
05:11This is one where they're going to take advantage until you come up and press, and then they're
05:17going to take their shots down the field.
05:19Then they're going to take their hole shots versus cover two on the sideline.
05:22Then they're going to take their little corner routes, their inside fade routes.
05:25They're going to do those things.
05:26But first, they're going to take advantage of soft coverage.
05:29He's not going to stand back there and-
05:32Because he's going to get pressured.
05:33Yeah, but he's going to eliminate the pressure if you're going to give him soft coverage.
05:36He'll get the ball out immediately.
05:37And so he's going to force the safety, the corners up, and when that happens, they're
05:41going to take them shots.
05:43Do the corners come up before that?
05:45Do the corners come up and challenge before that, make him hold the football and the pass
05:49rush gets there?
05:50Or do they force him and allow him early on to get into rhythm because he's taking that
05:54underneath stuff?
05:55We'll see.
05:56The key is here, this is a quarterback and a receiving group that will absolutely take
06:01that right now throw until you take it away from him.
06:04Yeah.
06:05Yeah.
06:06Like I said, you can see it going either way of how this thing rolls through.
06:11Your point, Ron, to me, let's think about this, man.
06:15I'm just saying they've seen it on tape.
06:16Well, just, I mean, look, when you want to talk about difference-making players this
06:22year on the offense and the defensive side of the football, I mean, sure, Tank has been
06:28a little disappointed.
06:29You're talking about your third best receiver.
06:31Dalton Schultz has been disappointed.
06:33You're talking about your third, your at best third, third best, even on a good year, you're
06:37with this group, your third best pass catcher, right?
06:40I mean, you're talking about depth guys at this point in time in terms of like rankings
06:44of pass catchers on the offense.
06:49Derek Stingley is a top five, top six impact player on this football team.
06:55It's time that he shows it.
06:57He's going to be challenged.
06:58He's going to have the opportunity.
07:00Your overall point of calling out Derek Stingley and saying that this is a game where he's
07:03got to show up.
07:04I couldn't agree more.
07:05And hell, he may be at the top of that list of guys that, sure, they've been good, but
07:08has he been great?
07:09Has he made a handful of game-changing type plays?
07:13This is a game where he's got to go make one.
07:15Yeah.
07:16Yeah.
07:17As Ocho says, Rodgers might not be what he once was, but he's still good enough to hit
07:22open receivers.
07:24These lesser quarterbacks that the Texans have face couldn't.
07:29And yeah, the thought is, yes, as you said, as Ocho said, Aaron has struggled and not
07:36played to the level that he has played in his MVP years.
07:40But if guys are streaking in the middle of the field and streaking open, which we've
07:47seen this year, I think, I think the thought that he may not connect the way that Trevor
07:54Lawrence hasn't, the way that Anthony Richardson didn't last week, the way Josh didn't, Josh
08:00Allen didn't when he had open guys running down.
08:04I would want to take a chance with that.
08:05And you brought this other player up too, Clinton.
08:09I wonder, I do believe, I believe Derek Stingley is going to get challenged and tested this
08:17week.
08:18I also believe, I think this may be the week that Kamari Lassiter gets tested too.
08:23And that, that, that is one where we've talked about it.
08:26It's been kind of surprising even when he's been in the game that teams haven't just kind
08:31of just tested that out and, and, and, and the, this is a quarterback and receivers.
08:39I wouldn't be surprised.
08:40Like we start to see a situation where Adams keeps going to the, to the left side of the
08:45formation where it is him against Kamari Lassiter, damn sure he is going to be challenged.
08:50Now Kamari is up to it.
08:51I mean, he's, I mean, he's probably getting himself psyched up about it.
08:54I mean, currently somewhere losing his mind about it, but I don't, I would say Clint,
08:59I don't think Kamari Lassiter has been tested a ton.
09:05And I think this is a game on both sides.
09:07I think they will, he's going to go outside and test both of these corners and this'll
09:12be one to really see where Kamari Lassiter is because his impact has been big.
09:17We clearly saw a difference from when he was out and when he's in from the guys behind
09:22him.
09:23But this is a week that I, I think you'll have to go and make some plays.
09:26To me, it's, it's the, we're going to find out about Kamari Lassiter.
09:29I would have loved for him to be healthy against the Green Bay Packers to, to see kind of how,
09:34how he fared there.
09:35So we just, so we'd know a little bit more about him.
09:38And this is one of those games where you know, you can talk about being in the right place
09:43the right time and you know, being a dog and being physical and that kind of stuff.
09:47And that, that's, that's great.
09:48But when you face the better receiving cores, a better quarterback, you know, how do you
09:52stack up against those guys?
09:53And the truth of the matter is we haven't seen that combination versus the Texans, but
09:57a couple of times this year, one of which Kamari Lassiter was out and injured.
10:01So the more we can see him against guys like Devontae Adams and, and, and guys like Garrett
10:06Wilson and, and, and with Aaron Rogers throwing the ball, the, the, the more we're going to
10:12find out.
10:13He's been a lot better than I thought he was going to be.
10:17I thought, hell, I thought he was going to be a slot corner.
10:19And, and so he's been tremendous, relatively speaking.
10:22We'll see how he fares against a better quarterback and a better, better wide receiver.
10:27I'm excited to see, I'm excited to see these guys cause I feel like I got Clint.
10:34I think we see every bit of 10 fades tonight.
10:39Because to me, as we said, it's easy.
10:40Some kind.
10:41Yeah.
10:42You're probably right.
10:43Because it's, it's, it's something that could, that, you know, you can get off quickly because
10:47I do think Hunter and, and, uh, and Will Anderson are going to be pressuring and the blitz packages
10:52are going to be pressuring and, and that is going to get to Aaron and we can see a lot
10:57of one-on-one stuff on the outside between those two corners.
11:02And I can't wait to see, cannot wait to see how they reacted.
11:05As you said, I think you said it just now, like we'll have to learn, it'll be, we'll
11:09be able to learn to see exactly what these guys, what these guys have, uh, text line
11:15coming through, uh, the five hour energy fan line, text line coming through y'all talking
11:20about sting.
11:21Meanwhile, sauce hasn't been an all pro on the other side.
11:25Can we talk about the areas we can exploit and how we can actually win the game?
11:31Uh, we, we did in the second segment.
11:33Uh, but, uh, but no, uh, yeah, they could, they could sauce has not been itself.
11:38They, uh, now sauce is probably dealing with a little different receiver situation than
11:44what Derek Stingley and Kamori Lassner is dealing with.
11:47But, well, I look, I hear, here's the deal.
11:49I mean, if, if you're listening to, to, to tell us what the hell to talk about, we just
11:55had about Derek, like, like you can, you can hear that.
11:57However, you'd like to hear it.
11:59The one way to hear that is that if Derek Stingley plays up to Derek's abilities, then
12:06it can help us win a ball game.
12:08I mean, so I look, I mean, I don't, I don't, it's having a conversation about Derek
12:14Stingley jr.
12:15And about, and about as it pertains to winning is if Derek, if he goes out there and
12:20does his thing, then the Texas will have a really damn good chance of winning and
12:24continue to play great defense.
12:26He's it's a different challenge this week.
12:29Yeah.
12:29And, and, and big boy thoughts here, to be honest with you, like sauce garden doesn't
12:33have a damn thing to do with what we're talking with the Derek Stingley situation,
12:38right?
12:38Yeah.
12:38They can exploit sauce.
12:39Yeah.
12:40But we're talking about Derek Stingley, right?
12:42I w I would say that this week, because of the situation, Derek Stingley's, uh, Derek
12:51Stingley and Kamori Lassner's covers.
12:53And there, there is, is, is diff is more difficult, more of a challenge than what
12:58the jet secondary is going to have to deal with.
13:01Yeah.
13:02I mean, if, if, if Kamori Lassner was having to shut down Robert Woods types
13:07and Xavier Hutchinson types, that's a different, different ball game.
13:10This is this to me, I think you could argue Clint, this could be the biggest
13:14challenge, the court, these corners have had to look at, even though the jet, the
13:19jets are two and six, but just specifically the receivers they have with the
13:23quarterback they have and the routes that, that, that, that they'd like to run.
13:27And what you said earlier, the, the fearlessness of Aaron Rogers to
13:31repeatedly throw these routes, that could be the bigger, the biggest challenge
13:38that these two corners have had, have had to, to have had to deal with.
13:42It's that simple.
13:43That are the package of what they've had to deal with.
13:45So, uh, but a big opportunity for both and, and two guys that I would be
13:50absolutely watching to see if they can, if they can hold up and really make an
13:54impact because they could, the negative is, you know, they could get beat, but
14:00the positive is there could be interceptions and turnovers head.
14:04We've seen Aaron turn the ball over on these things.
14:06There could be, there could be those out there to be had to change the game.
