00:00While a colorful and creative parade floats, this is the festive welcoming of the Day of
00:06the Dead in Vegan City during their annual Raniag Twilight Festival.
00:11It has been a part of their tradition to honor the departed by lighting the way during their
00:15visit.
00:16Philippine Information Agency, Ilocosur Isla Villanueva has the report.
00:24Spooky and chilling.
00:25This is the theme of most gimmicks in other places during the Halloween, but here in Vegan
00:29City, it is celebrated with festivity and a lot of fun in their annual Raniag Twilight
00:34Festival which began this Tuesday, October 29, welcoming the All Souls' and All Saints'
00:39Days.
00:40One of the highlights of this festival is the Cartrunk Bazaar open from 4 in the afternoon
00:44to 10 in the evening, featuring a variety of goods such as clothing, shoes, and kids'
00:49toys among others.
00:51When one gets thirsty or hungry, Plaza Burgos is just next to it, where everyone's favorite
00:56foods pansit, siomai, coffee, fruit juices, and milkshakes are available.
01:02This Wednesday, October 30, the residents lined up through the Kaliak Risologo to watch
01:06the event that they always anticipate during this time of the year, the Raniag Float Parade.
01:12It seems that it has become part of their tradition to have a festive welcoming of the
01:15Day of the Dead as the residents, from children to the elders, arrived early to secure a good
01:21spot to watch the colorful and creative parade of floats by the participating city government
01:25departments and hotels.
01:28According to Thelma Fernando, she actually joined her grandchildren because she herself
01:32looks forward to this float parade annually.
01:35In addition to the parade, among the events are the Horror House Trick or Treat Competition,
01:50Street Dancing Showdown, and Jack-o'-lantern competition that will be held until the last
01:54day of the festival on Monday, November 4.
01:57According to the tourism office of the city, Raniag Festival or Light began in 2010 to
02:02honor the departed by lighting their way during their visit on November 1 and 2.
02:06Remembering the dead doesn't always have to come with a heavy heart wrapped in sadness.
02:12Here in Vigan, there is joy in remembering the happy memories shared with their departed.
