00:00Clinging together after an unthinkable loss, the parents of Jack Davey today struggled
00:07to voice their grief.
00:10Words can't adequately describe the utter devastation we feel as we come to terms with
00:16the sudden, overwhelming loss of our Jack.
00:18The 11-year-old was killed when a driver performing a U-turn crashed through the fence of Auburn
00:23Primary School on Tuesday, hitting him and four other children who were seated at a table.
00:29The driver has been released while investigations continue.
00:32He is our champion.
00:34He is our beloved son and brother who remains very much alive in our hearts and memories.
00:40A keen basketball, soccer and futsal player, Jack's death has sparked an outpouring of
00:45grief from the community.
00:46We find comfort in reading the many messages and memories of Jack and how his life and
00:52energy was a positive influence on so many in the community at just 11 years old.
00:57Also a comfort, the first responders, paramedics and doctors who fought to save Jack's life.
01:03Our heartfelt thanks to Millie, the Auburn South School receptionist and the former emergency
01:10department nurse who stayed with Jack, providing comfort the entire time.
01:17Our words are inadequate.
01:19Two of the injured children have now been discharged from hospital, while two others
01:23remain in stable condition.
01:24We wish them all the support to assist in their healing in the weeks and months ahead.
01:30A GoFundMe account for the Davey family has so far raised more than $175,000 and support
01:36is being offered to the community, with the local council and Red Cross today opening
01:41a temporary hub for anyone in need of help coming to terms with a life cut short.
