High pressure remains to the south, causing widespread cloud, patchy at times. Temperatures overnight will be lowest in southern regions and northeast Scotland, under clearer skies. In areas of clear skies and light winds, mist and fog patches may develop in the early hours of Thursday. Elsewhere, low pressure to the north bringing stronger winds as well as patchy rain and drizzle to much of Scotland, particularly highland and coastal areas, becoming more consistent into Thursday. Throughout the morning, low cloud, mist and fog will lift, bringing benign conditions for much of the south. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 30/10/24. 00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office. A lot
00:04of cloud generally through the next few days. High pressure, waxes and wanes always centred
00:09across England and Wales. But through the next 24 hours, we'll see more of a breeze
00:12come in across Scotland, the far north of England, as well as Northern Ireland. And
00:16it will turn gusty over the Highlands, the Southern Uplands, as well as the North Pennines.
00:21This weather front here through Thursday brings more cloud to the far north and some outbreaks
00:25of rain. But elsewhere through this evening, it's quiet. The cloud will just come and
00:30go. We could see some clearer skies down towards the south mid Wales as well. And that's where
00:34the lowest temperatures will be, as well as the north east of Scotland. Again, temperatures
00:38dipping down to around six to eight degrees Celsius here. But where you see clearer skies
00:43and lighter wind, expect some mist and fog patches to form through the early hours of
00:47the morning. At the same time, this wind will bring with it cloud and also some patchy rain
00:52and drizzle, particularly on the upslopes of the northwest Highlands and coastal districts.
00:56This wind will be a feature of the weather through Thursday across the north by the south.
01:01It's a quiet start today. It's chilly in places and there'll be lots of low clouds and mist
01:06and fog, which will lift and break up at times. So damp across western Scotland, some rain
01:12across Shetland and this wind coming in from the southwest. And as it hops over the Highlands,
01:18that's when we'll see a little bit of turbulence. Hence the reason why it could turn rather
01:21gusty. Similar situation further south. Now, through the afternoon, you can see a few breaks
01:26coming through favoured spots, allowing for some brighter weather. At the same time, this
01:30rain continues just a creep in across Orkney and it remains damp across Caithness, Ross
01:36and Cromarty, as well as the Western Isles down towards Argyll and Bute. Temperatures
01:41here 14 degrees Celsius. You could see a 16 across central and southern parts of England
01:45and Wales. That's Thursday. Through Friday, this weather front here could be heavy at
01:51times in terms of rain before it weakens, dragging in some colder air for a time, particularly
01:55across northern northeastern areas of Scotland. But you lose those cold winds and eventually
02:00the air will turn a little bit more mild. But through Thursday evening, you can see
02:04where this weather front is. Some heavier bursts and some really gusty winds associated
02:09with it. Elsewhere, yet again, temperatures will drop under some clearer skies across
02:13England and Wales. And again, some mists and fog patches can't be ruled out as the weather
02:17turns damp towards the central belt as we head through the early hours of the morning,
02:21as well as the northern part of Northern Ireland. Through Thursday, this rain does sink its
02:25way southwards. In its wake, we'll see strong, cold northerly winds. You'll notice that it's
02:30going to feel very cold across Shetland, Orkney and Caithness. And this rain will keep temperatures
02:35slightly high across the central belt as well as southern areas. Towards the south, there'll
02:38be just a fair amount of clouds and also some broken clouds, allowing for some bright skies.
02:43And that's how we see Saturday. A lighter wind generally. Temperatures around 11 to
02:4714 degrees Celsius. Similar situation on Sunday. I'll see you later.
