00:00Furthermore, public schools whose infrastructure, learning materials and instruments sustain
00:05damage from severe tropical storm Christine's Passage are to receive first dibs in Department
00:12of Education's Rehabilitation, Repair or Reconstruction list.
00:16DepEd Chief Sunny Ngara said the ASAP order is allowed to quick resumption or restoration
00:24of normalcy to the schools given the extended disruptions in learning injured by the students
00:31and the teachers who play catch-up on their lesson plans.
00:35In particular, the DepEd seeks to replace irreparably damaged textbooks, learning materials,
00:41tools and computer systems, and then set up temporary learning spaces or facilities and
00:48utilize additional maintenance and operating expenses if need be.
00:54Damage in schools hit by Christine is pegged at approximately 3.7 billion pesos, of which
01:002.9 billion pesos is for reconstruction and 737.5 million pesos for major repairs or rehab.
