00:00The Industrial Court has awarded RM792,000 in back wages to Ng Yingying, a former director

00:08of Symphony Life Berhad, for unfair dismissal due to misconduct allegations.

00:14Court Chairman Deepara Malingam said Ng's dismissal was orchestrated by Chin Jitping,

00:19Symphony Life's group CEO, to thwart an investigation into his own alleged misconduct.

00:25The alleged wrongdoing involved the purchase of shares in a listed company, which Ng reported,

00:30prompting internal scrutiny.

00:32The judge found the company's eight charges against Ng, on grounds of insubordination,

00:37breach of authority and breach of confidentiality, were unfounded and fabricated following her

00:42whistleblowing on Chin.

00:44Paramalingam also said Chin and then-group advisor David Goh had coordinated the transaction

00:49concerning CCB shares.

00:51In response to an impending audit, Chin allegedly suspended Ng and executive director Teo Chia-chi

00:57to derail the investigation.

00:59Paramalingam suggested that Ng consider filing a civil suit against Chin, though reinstating

01:04her was deemed inappropriate given the case's circumstances.
