LORRA and Joshua's journey began last Christmas, December 2023, whilst residing in Dubai there was an issue with her visa and as a result, Laura wasn't allowed on her flight home to her native Germany for Christmas. Feeling lonely at Christmas, Laura was scrolling through TikTok when she came across a video explaining how to write to a prisoner. Feeling emphatic about the men locked up alone during the festive season, she decided to write to one of them. This is how Lorra started her relationship with a man in the United States, who she is now married to. She told Love Don't Judge: "Before I had everything when it came to materialistic stuff, financial stuff. I was travelling the world, I was doing everything you can imagine. But I never felt satisfied within. That was because I needed love." She continued: "Since I met him I realised that was what I was missing." Lorra shares their love story online, explaining how they make their marriage work. But many commenters have criticised their union. Trolling comments include: "This is a prison personality, it's a fantasy. Girl, he's a murderer", "wow he's about to use the hell out of you what a dumbass" and suggesting that the couple are using each other. In this episode of Love Don't Judge, Lorra gets a visit from her friend, ready to question the reason for her choice to marry someone behind bars. "My friend Samira is coming over today, I met her on a TV show [Too Hot To Handle] that I was part of." Samira said: "When Lorra first told me about Joshua I was shocked. She called and told me that she was married to someone in prison, I don't have words for that moment. I had reservations, is this the right decision? Is she doing the right thing?"

00:16It's like adopting a pet from shelter. When she called me and told me I'm married to someone who's in prison
00:23I was like, what? What's going on? Zamira doesn't even know all about my plans with Joshua yet
00:28My concern was that he won't change when he gets out and that's gonna affect you
00:34So in a bad way, do you guys discuss that or?
00:38Hello, this is a free call from
00:40It's Josh, I love my wife Laura
00:42An incarcerated individual at
00:44Hi
00:46Hi baby
00:48My name is Laura. I'm 27 years old and I'm a real estate agent
00:52Now I'm married to a prisoner in America. His current sentence is seven years
00:56He's been in prison so far for a little bit over three
00:58But he can get released after four and a half years for house arrest. So he'll have to stay on house arrest for six more months
01:08Before I had everything when it comes to like much realistic stuff and financial stuff. I was traveling the world
01:13I was like doing everything you could imagine but I never felt like satisfied from within that was because I needed love
01:20But since I found him I realized that that was what I was missing
01:24We both are very intense and we love very extremely
01:30As soon as I seen the first picture that she sent me like I was like blown away
01:35And at first I felt like she was a catfish
01:39Because how could somebody as hot as her be like hitting me up?
01:43I felt like I was falling in love with her within weeks of us talking very quickly
01:50My friend Zamira is coming today
01:52I actually met Zamira on the TV show that I was part of
01:55When Laura first told me about Joshua I was shocked
01:58My plan was to live my single life a little bit more
02:01Zamira doesn't even know all about my plans with Joshua yet
02:05Like my move to the US
02:07When she called me and told me like I'm married to someone who's in prison
02:11I was like what? What's going on?
02:13I didn't have words for that moment
02:15I had a reservation
02:17Is it the right decision? Is she doing the right thing?
02:29What was your first reaction when you found out he's in prison?
02:33I'm like I was shocked to be honest
02:37But I was more shocked about the fact that you're married
02:40Than even the fact that he's in prison
02:43I mean we want to spend our lives together so why hold back?
02:46True
02:47YOLO
02:48You only live once
02:49It's true
02:51I met Joshua on a website called Write a Prisoner
02:53I was planning to fly home to Germany to see my family
02:56The last year in December
02:58One day before Christmas and I couldn't take the flight
03:00It was very like spontaneous for me to go on this website
03:04I mean I just saw it on TikTok
03:05I was feeling so sad at home
03:07I cannot spend time with my family
03:09I could just imagine how they would feel in prison
03:12Without their families all the time
03:14I didn't really have an intention to like
03:16Really get into a conversation with a prisoner
03:18I just wanted to say Merry Christmas
03:20But it turned out a little bit differently
03:22Then I saw my husband's account or profile
03:25And it says that he writes poetry
03:27And I write poetry too
03:29So I was super interested in reading his poetry
03:32He sent me his poems
03:33And I really thought it's very like emotionally intelligent
03:36And has a lot of depth to it
03:38He asked me if I was just interested in his poems
03:40Or if I also want to get to know him
03:42We started having phone calls every day
03:44It started from like 1-2 hours a day
03:46To like 8-11 hours once
03:48He writes me poems minimum once a week
03:51You are my life, my soul, and the other half of me
03:54The day that we met I felt my heart drop
03:56There is no one like you in this world
03:59What were your like initial concerns
04:01About my relationship and marriage with him?
04:03My concern was a little that he won't change
04:06When he gets out
04:07And maybe that's gonna affect you on a bad way
04:10Do you guys discuss that?
04:12Yeah of course
04:13We talk about stuff like this every day
04:15I mean he was very young
04:16And he blames himself and everything
04:17But like he takes responsibility
04:19But my view like psychologically
04:20He was influenced so much
04:22And had the wrong role model
04:23So he never was really able to like make the right decisions
04:26But now he knows this is definitely wrong so
04:29On a bad day when he's not there
04:31You're so lonely and you managed all the stuff alone
04:34How is that going?
04:35I mean we're on the phone most of the times
04:37We do all our daily activities
04:39Crazy how?
04:40We're just on the phone with everything we do
04:43We really like stay on the phone
04:45And spend time with each other
04:46We used to spend anywhere from 5 to like
04:48Almost 12 hours a day every day
04:51For almost 6 whole months straight
04:53I know that our love is real
04:55We're both really good at
04:57Communicating
04:58Conflicts
04:59Yeah communicating I mean yeah
05:01I have a doll of my husband
05:04With his face on it
05:05So I can cuddle it
05:07And he's on the phone at the same time
05:09So we always fall asleep on the phone together
05:12Is that him?
05:16Okay that's crazy though
05:19We already talked more than usual
05:20Couples would do in more than like 3 and a half years
05:23Like pure talking
05:24Did you guys realize by the way
05:25That I got married before having s*** with the person?
05:28It's so much more intimate somehow
05:30I don't
05:31Like even though it's not intimate physically
05:32But it's more intimate emotionally
05:34When I first went to jail
05:35I was very nervous
05:37First of all I never went to jails
05:39I had to travel to a whole other continent
05:41For this meeting
05:42Obviously I had some doubts
05:44I'm in love with him virtually
05:46But what if I don't feel it in real life?
05:48There's this drawing game on TikTok
05:50And we did it in the visiting room
05:52But as soon as he came out
05:53I felt so happy
05:54And I saw him and it was exactly
05:56As on the phone and as on the video calls
05:58And we were just vibing perfectly
06:00And everything was great
06:02How did it feel to get married in prison?
06:04And how was the ceremony?
06:05Well
06:06It all went a little bit fast
06:08After 6 weeks
06:10He basically proposed to me
06:12Because we realized we want to be together
06:14And spend our lives together
06:15So my husband surprised me
06:16With a tattoo of my name on his finger
06:18And our wedding date
06:20And he also has our zodiac signs
06:22So I also wanted to dedicate my whole hand to him
06:2411-11 has a special meaning for us
06:26And the butterfly
06:27Because how we even met each other
06:28Is all kind of based
06:29Or thanks to the butterfly effect
06:31I couldn't take my plane
06:32That was the best day of my life
06:34That was probably the funnest day
06:36In my whole entire 21 years of living
06:41I was seeing this trend on TikTok
06:43Where people said
06:44Is somebody gonna match my freak?
06:45And then saying something crazy that they did
06:47Oh let me post our prison wedding video
06:50Because that's like a crazy thing to do
06:52Yeah it just went viral
06:54And then after that
06:55Almost all of our videos went viral
06:56So me and Joshua
06:58We weren't allowed to see each other
06:59Not even on video
07:00For the last 60 days
07:01Just because I was wearing something like this
07:03And you're not allowed really
07:04To show shoulders or something
07:06Tomorrow we'll finally be able
07:08To have video calls again
07:09Well we can use this as a platform for us
07:11To share a real love story
07:12But also like
07:13Inspire people
07:14And show that
07:15Prisoners are not all bad
07:17And they can change
07:18Until he gets out
07:19And then you're done done
07:20So my husband was never a violent person
07:23People think
07:24If you go to prison
07:25You have to be a violent person
07:26No, we're not cavemen anymore, right?
07:28And how is so many people's first reaction always like
07:30Can he provide for you?
07:32I don't think I am promoting anything
07:34I'm just sharing our love story
07:36It's like adopting a pet from shelter
07:39I'm not saying anyone should copy
07:42This is a prison personality
07:44It's a fantasy
07:45He's on his best behavior
07:46And you're filling the blanks
07:47You must be desperate
07:48There are literally millions of other normal men
07:51I have this series about the website
07:53Write a prisoner
07:54And I make people aware
07:55Look, check their crimes before
07:57Research it if you ever want to text someone
07:59Because there is really bad people on this website
08:01And I'm really trying to make aware of that
08:03And not to romanticize the whole thing too much
08:06This will end up on the news one day
08:09I mean, we are already on the news
08:13We already started working together
08:15We started building a clothing brand
08:17This is one of my favorite designs too
08:19It says daddy issues
08:20We turned all the hateful comments into
08:22Something positive and something cool
08:24My mom in love with a criminal
08:26My mom actually loves this design
08:28We're saying at least my trauma made me interesting
08:30Because all of these people follow us
08:32And talk about us now on TikTok
08:34So just own it
08:36So mostly people say the typical daddy issues
08:39People think that I send him money
08:41Which is not true
08:42My husband actually has his family
08:44Who supports him for his food and whatever monthly
08:46Like we even share the cost of our phone calls
08:49Well, mostly I try to just politely answer
08:52Because you can't fight hate with hate
08:54What I love most about Joshua
08:56Is that he shows his vulnerable side
08:58Like he's really emotionally intelligent
09:00And I think that's very rare in this generation
09:03I love you
09:04I love you too
09:05This is too cute
09:06And I hear he's getting out soon
09:08So I'm incredibly happy for you all
09:10I love comments like this
09:11I had my doubts about him
09:12And maybe still a little bit
09:14But rooting for you
09:15And he'll get released for house arrest
09:17Around October, November next year
09:19So that's the plan for me to be there then
09:23It feels like having a new start
09:25We're going to build our base
09:27And spend a lot of time together
09:29And make up for all the missing time
09:31All these people who are hating on us
09:33Or judging us
09:34That I hope you will find real love at some point
09:52You
