00:00Rich Fair here from Manchester World where the shock news is that Manchester United have
00:05sacked manager Eric Ten Haag following their 2-1 defeat against West Ham in the Premier
00:10League. Manchester United 14th in the top flight and have only won 4 of their 14 matches
00:15across all competitions this season as well as throwing away leads in all 3 of their Europa
00:22League matches. Manchester United say there are no excuses for their poor start to the
00:27season and while they wanted to do everything they could to help Eric Ten Haag succeed they
00:32say there has not been any evidence of improvement and there is no sign that things were going
00:37to get better under the Dutchman. United of course lost in controversial circumstances
00:41against West Ham on Sunday. Things might have been different if not for that outrageous
00:46penalty decision at the end of the game but Manchester United feel that now is the time
00:51to act. Ruud van Nistelrooy will take temporary charge of the club when they face Leicester
00:55City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Manchester United are going to conduct their
01:01search for a new manager. We understand Julian Nagelsmann, Xavi Hernandez, Ruben Amarim are
01:07all leading contenders to potentially take over Old Trafford. Manchester United won't
01:12rush this decision though. There is no one currently lined up to come in and take immediate
01:17charge like we said van Nistelrooy and the current coaching staff will lead United for
01:21the foreseeable future. Who knows what happens for van Nistelrooy now similar to Ole Gunnar
01:30Solskjaer who took over on an initial caretaker basis but for Manchester United they felt
01:34they had to act. Eric Ten Haag was given a stay of execution in the summer after the
01:39FA Cup win over Man City. He wasn't backed with a new deal but he was backed with £200
01:44million in the transfer window. He had his veto on transfer signing still. He remained
01:49as the manager rather than the head coach. It will be interesting to see if Manchester
01:53United do appoint a head coach rather than a manager, someone who is solely responsible
01:57for performances and results on the pitch rather than transfer matters as Ten Haag did.
02:03But Manchester United like we said just felt that they weren't getting any better under
02:07Eric Ten Haag as much as they felt that the results weren't in their favour. They felt
02:11that ultimately the performances weren't improving either. That is the indictment of Ten Haag
02:16in his third season in charge of Manchester United, 14th in the Premier League, on course
02:20to finish even lower than they did last season which was their lowest ever finish in the
02:25Premier League. Ten Haag carried on speaking about trophies. He insisted that United would
02:30win trophies by the end of the season. He thought that winning domestic trophies almost
02:34made up for poor form in the Premier League but it just not been good enough for Manchester
02:40United. They felt that they had to act. Yeah, breaking news and you can follow all of it
02:44with us on Manchester World. Eric Ten Haag has been sacked as Manchester United manager.
