00:00Even though still reeling from the devastation caused by severe tropical storm Christine,
00:05some residents of Cavite have already begun the arduous task of cleaning up the mud and
00:10silt brought about by intense flooding.
00:13For the part of the local government, an assurance was given that assistance will be continuously
00:18be provided to all those affected and that vigilance will be maintained to ensure that
00:23no more life or property is lost.
00:25For PTV's Mela, Les Moras has more.
00:31Six-month pregnant Alan is currently staying here at the evacuation center in Barangay
00:36Tejero General Trias Cavite after their home was submerged due to Typhoon Christine.
00:41She said their situation here is manageable, but she hopes the government will assist them,
00:46especially since they lost almost everything in the calamity.
00:50Alan's wish was quickly granted after provincial government officials visited the area, bringing
01:07various forms of assistance.
01:09Cavite Governor Athena Tolentino led the relief operations not only in General Trias, but
01:14also in other parts of the province.
01:25As of now, floodwaters have receded in many areas of the province and only mud remains
01:31on the roads.
01:32We saw several residents working hard to clean their belongings and appliances that were
01:37flooded.
01:38Based on the situation report released by the Cavite Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction
01:42and Management Council, nearly 14,000 individuals or over 3,900 families were affected by the
01:48typhoon in Cavite and had to be evacuated.
01:52One person was reported dead after drowning in the town of Alfonso while another one went
01:57missing in Tagaytay City.
01:59In the agricultural sector, the estimated damage is over P13.7 million while 78 houses
02:05and buildings were also affected by the calamity.
02:09Yesterday, the Cavite Provincial Government declared a state of calamity.
02:13They assured to continue monitoring the situation and provide assistance to those in need.
02:18The provincial government of Cavite through our PDRMO council has always been ready with
02:24all the disasters.
02:25As a matter of fact, the relief operations is ongoing.
