Michael Plant brings the latest news from Pep Guardiola's pre-match press conference.
Transcript
00:00I'm at Man City's CFA training base where this afternoon Pep Guardiola held his pre-match
00:04press conference ahead of the game against Southampton on Saturday. The big talking point
00:08was team news and Guardiola did confirm that all four of Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Kyle
00:12Walker and Kevin De Bruyne won't be back in time for the game. A big blow for City which
00:17means they'll be without six players including Rodri and Oscar Ball for long-term absentees.
00:21It means that City really will be limited on numbers. They could only name seven substitutes
00:25the other night against Sparta Prague, two of which were goalkeepers, so it's becoming a bit
00:29of a problem for City that hopefully from their perspective they will address the next couple of
00:32weeks with a few players coming back. Guardiola did confirm that he's not exactly sure still at
00:37this stage when De Bruyne will be back. That injury is running on a lot longer than many of
00:41us expected to. Full of praise for Southampton as well and Russell Martin and the approach that
00:45they have made to this season. Tried to play football I think Guardiola would see in the right
00:48way in terms of building up from the back. Lots of attractive football albeit the results haven't
00:56necessarily gone their way but Guardiola full of praise for Martin as the saying said.
00:59But hopefully they stick with it and hopefully can get a few better results as the season goes on.
01:04And finally he also said that he expects Phil Foden to get back to his best soon.
01:08Been a bit of a slow start to the season, been a bit in and out of the team,
01:11struggled with a few knocks but played really well in midweek against Sparta Prague and Guardiola
01:15said he is confident that Foden is getting back to the sort of form that saw him crowned player
01:19of the year last season. But of course we'll be covering the game against Southampton on
01:23Manchester World so make sure to check it out for all the big reaction from the game.
