00:00Becoming a Yeoman Warder is a boyhood dream and I'm ready to get stuck in.
00:03Hello, I am Ryan Brown and I am the newest Yeoman Warder at His Majesty's Tower of London.
00:08Today is my first day in uniform and it's an honour and a privilege to be part of the
00:11Yeoman body and a real surreal moment. I served for just over 22 years in the British Army and
00:17for the last five and a half years I've been working at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens
00:20in Northern Ireland. When I first walked through the gates it was very overwhelming and surreal to
00:26be able to walk amongst over a thousand years of history. I still have to pinch myself every
00:30morning when I wake up here within the fortress. This is definitely an environmental change between
00:35Hillsborough Castle and His Majesty's Tower of London. Near enough 24 hours a day there's always
00:40something going on. We have lots of tourists during the day and in events at night and of
00:44course closing up at night with the Ceremony of the Keys. So I've been here now for about three
00:49and a half weeks. I'm well settling in and starting my journey of learning the story which is part of
00:55our famous Yeoman Water Tours. It's a challenging experience which is part of the journey and you
01:01know I'm really excited that we keep going and completing it to actually be able to deliver
01:05those tours in six months. So if you hear this accent around the tower why not come and say hello
01:10and we'll have some crack.
