00:00It's going to take it.
00:06Two legends in basketball analysis with over 70 years combined experience.
00:12This is the Bob Ryan and Jeff Goodman podcast.
00:17NBA, some college.
00:18All right, welcome in to another episode of the Ryan Goodman and Tangway podcast.
00:24We do not have Gary here today.
00:26So hosting duties are all mine today.
00:29So Bob, you better be ready.
00:31You better be ready.
00:32I might do with absolutely anything, although we know what we're going to talk about.
00:36Certainly the Celtics barrage of threes.
00:40First we are presented by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of CLNS Media Network.
00:46Pick more, pick less with PrizePix.
00:48All right, Robert, I know how much you love threes being hoisted.
00:55The banner was unveiled, the rings ceremony.
00:59It was all pretty cool.
01:01Let's start there because to me, I don't know.
01:06It was just kind of cool to watch for me personally, especially with Jason Tatum, who I've known
01:11since he was 15 years old, who people kind of have been hot and cold with here in Boston
01:17at times over the years.
01:19I mean, let's think about it.
01:20Three years ago, I wasn't the only one saying we should break up the J. I was saying for
01:26Jalen Brown, not for Jason Tatum.
01:28But there were some people that were saying at that point, hey, maybe it's Jason Tatum
01:32who should go.
01:33Yeah, no, you're right.
01:34There was not.
01:35He was not.
01:36Hadn't sold himself to everybody.
01:37And he's had a long career already, you know, and he's still only 26, but he had to grow
01:47and progress.
01:48And he certainly has done it.
01:51And what he did last night and after all the offseason hoopla emanating from the Olympic
01:57situation was it was like dramatic.
02:00It was tremendous.
02:01He was he started off 15 seconds into the game with hitting a three and he wound up
02:07eight for eleven on threes and at least two of them were outrageous Curry slash Caitlin
02:13Clark like threes, you know, and he just answered it.
02:17And then and then late in the game, I looked up and said, holy bleep, he's got ten assists.
02:24And I remember one behind a back pass.
02:27But but that says a lot right there that you didn't even notice that anybody he had casually
02:33quietly had ten assists to go with this is his point three point barrage.
02:38That's the beauty of Jason Tatum.
02:39That's what I've said for years is like he he can make people better consistently.
02:44And now you've got really four guys on the court who consistently do it right.
02:49Horford can do it from from the center spot.
02:51You can do it.
02:52We know Drew can do it and Derek White can do it.
02:55Here's the three of them together.
02:56The big three, you know, three point shooters last night, Tatum eight for eleven, Brown
03:02five for nine, White six for ten.
03:04That's 19 for 30 on threes.
03:06Take a look at the assists and turnovers.
03:08Take a look at the assists and turnovers.
03:10Yeah, yeah.
03:11I forgot.
03:12I know it's a miscall.
03:13I mean, I think it was something like thirty three assists and three.
03:17Something insane.
03:18Yeah, they had they had an extremely high assist field goal ratio and very few turnovers.
03:26So it was a terrific performance by them.
03:30I want to say this before we forget, assist to the Knicks fans.
03:34It wasn't as bad as it looked.
03:35It wasn't as bad as you think, if you didn't see the game offensively, the Knicks were
03:39excellent.
03:41They were there offensively late in the game.
03:44There was a timeout or maybe not somewhere in the game and they were they were shooting
03:49fifty nine point seven percent from the floor and losing by 30 and we're down by twenty
03:55nine points.
03:56All right.
03:57It was one on nine.
03:58Yeah.
03:59All right.
04:00Defensively, they obviously they did not remotely defend the three when the game mattered.
04:06We'll get to the end of the game in a minute.
04:07It was rather hilarious.
04:09But, you know, but offensively, you could see what their potential is.
04:14And oh, by the way, I didn't realize the explosive nature of Mr. McBride.
04:19He kept them in the game, but you can say he kept the game where it was still not out
04:26of sight at halftime.
04:28Totally thanks to him.
04:29He had twenty two off the bench and and including about five threes.
04:35He looked awful good.
04:36So but you could see the town's effect on their offense.
04:41They're going to be fine on offense.
04:42They're going to be what people think they're going to be.
04:44They will be.
04:45I don't think there's any doubt about that.
04:46But obviously.
04:47And by the way, that game, let's just say they they play that game, the same game, eighty
04:52two times this year.
04:53All right.
04:54Yeah.
04:55How many times you think they're going to run up against the foes shooting the way to
04:57Celtics play shot last night?
04:59Well, listen, probably never again because they tied the NBA record when it mattered.
05:04So, you know, I'm telling you, I'm offering a consolation to the Knick fans.
05:08You know, you ran into a juggernaut, you ran into a buzzsaw, you ran into all those cliche
05:11things last night on the road opening night, all the hoopla, all the adrenaline fine.
05:17Don't don't get down on your team.
05:19You do something to salvage out of that game.
05:21You're a Knick fan.
05:22I'm telling you right now.
05:23So two things stood out to me.
05:27Number one, Jason Tatum's shot looked cleaner.
05:30It just looked cleaner.
05:32They said he'd been working on it to make it a little bit.
05:36I don't know what the word is for it.
05:39Like not as long, right?
05:41Not as long.
05:42And it looked more compact to me.
05:44It looked like he got it off quicker.
05:46We'll see if that continues.
05:48Obviously, it's a one off.
05:49I once saw I remember Marcus Smart in college hit like seven threes in a game, his first
05:56game against Memphis when he was with Oklahoma State.
05:59And everybody was like, oh, Marcus Smart has fixed his three.
06:02He holds the Celtic record, by the way.
06:06Marcus Smart holds the Celtic record in a game with the Leaven.
06:10I'm never, I'm always worried about making these huge determinations like you just said
06:17about the Knicks off one game.
06:19However, I do think Tatum's shot looked cleaner, which is huge because he just hasn't shot
06:25the percentage that I thought he would over the last couple of years.
06:28It was a year earlier in his career when at some point, like two months into the season,
06:31he was leading the league in field goal percentage.
06:33Right.
06:34And that guy disappeared.
06:35And, you know, that's the bottoming out of the Olympic thing when he didn't make one.
06:40And as good as his shot looked, Bob, the guy on the other side, Mikael Bridges, shot looks
06:46broken.
06:47I don't know what happened.
06:48This is a guy who was a three and D guy who shoots close to 40% his whole career.
06:56And something happened over the offseason where he tinkered with it and it went the
07:00other way.
07:01And now he's got this hitch and he shot terrible from the preseason.
07:05And I think it was two for seven last night from three.
07:08They're all line drives.
07:10You know, for some reason, you know, they didn't have a nice arc at all.
07:14So anyway, so, but it was a, it was a, all I was thinking of, it was like, we never had
07:19left the building on June 17th because the last time we were in that building, it was,
07:23you know, rah, rah, sis, boom, bye.
07:25And Peyton was throwing the ball in from midcourt and everybody was smiling.
07:29It was a festive occasion.
07:30And last night was a immediate festive occasion, you know, and it was, it was a good, it was
07:35a lot of fun.
07:36There's no question for a Celtic fan.
07:37It sent a message, Bob.
07:39You know what it did?
07:40It sent a message.
07:41Without Porzingis, who they played with for a good portion of the last year, and he was
07:44hurting the playoffs.
07:46It sent the message that like, okay, we aren't going anywhere.
07:51And I actually think the one thing that last year did was alleviated some of the pressure
07:56now off Tatum and Jalen Brown, where if they have a bad game, it doesn't mean as much now.
08:01And we know what Holiday and Derek White bring to the table, right?
08:05They're older.
08:06Well, Holiday certainly is.
08:08They don't play for their numbers at all.
08:09I still think that Jalen and Jason at times played for their numbers, but now winning
08:14a title and everybody's saying, well, the Olympics have motivated both of them.
08:18I don't, I don't know if it's so much motivated.
08:21I think that's a part of it.
08:22But I think last year's NBA title alleviated some of that pressure.
08:27And now they can go out and kind of have fun and they'll go through their stretches where
08:31they're going to lose, you know, three in a row and the sky's going to be falling for
08:35Celtics fans.
08:36But you know, ultimately this team, man, if they stay healthy, I just don't know who can
08:41beat them.
08:42Well, on a given night, of course, you know, but I think we can, we can pencil in 60 wins
08:48for the under and go from there.
08:50I don't think there's much question about that.
08:53We got to tell people who don't know about the end of the game was hilarious.
08:57So somewhere along the way, and I don't know how public got informed, but people got a
09:01guy behind me knew I was in a stance, okay, with my daughter and a guy behind me knew
09:05right away.
09:06I mean, that they had when I hit 29 at 30, it's a record in the league, you know, for
09:12threes.
09:13And this is with eight minutes to go.
09:15So you know, there's no question they're going to do it, right?
09:19They missed their last 13 threes, including Fletcher to where I think this was you.
09:24I think we're gonna, we're gonna credit you for missing all those things.
09:28You did not want them to break the record.
09:30No, I got swept up in a way, but I'm just amused by it, though, with the way it unfolded.
09:35And we're all here.
09:36We're all standing.
09:37It's a 19,000 people are standing, they're up by 30.
09:41Well, as it leaves diminishing as they keep on missing these threes, but you know, waiting
09:46for that next one, you know, everybody's going crazy.
09:49And then of course, when it finally they get the last possession with about 28 or 30 seconds
09:53to go and have one more chance.
09:56Peyton Pritchard dribbles the clock out at midcourt.
09:59That didn't go over very well with the with the strange, it was just strange.
10:03Everybody knew you were going for the record for the last eight minutes.
10:05You're hoisting.
10:06I mean, Jordan Walsh is throwing airball threes.
10:08Yeah, Xavier Tillman's throwing one up everybody Pritchard Hauser.
10:12And then all of a sudden they're like, well, OK, now we don't want the record like.
10:16I don't know whether I haven't seen anything in the Joe tell him, don't do it.
10:21And he must have.
10:22He must have.
10:23He must have.
10:24Pritchard.
10:25So Pritchard dribbles out the clock and they don't do it.
10:27And but it was I've never all the years this on the 17th of October, I spent I was my anniversary
10:34of my 60th anniversary of my first Celtic game in the garden, the old garden.
10:39And all the years I've been going to Celtic games, I've never seen an ending like that.
10:43It was hilarious, you know, and it transcended the the the score.
10:47But anyway, so it was it was a it was an overall a fun evening.
10:51The ceremony, you know, was pretty elaborate.
10:53I loved it.
10:54The great Bob Cousy was there and he said that I told Dan Shaughnessy of the Globe that,
10:59you know, in my day, they we hoisted a flag before a game in an empty arena.
11:06I don't doubt it.
11:08I don't doubt it.
11:09And, you know, in those days, now, now, of course, it's it's it's a it's an extravaganza,
11:14you know, naturally.
11:15But it was what was the highlight?
11:17Bob, what was the highlight for you?
11:19The highlight for me was was Tatum when he's even he asked him to speak.
11:24And, you know, he had a time gathering himself and finally came out and said and ending up
11:30very brief, very brief.
11:32Let's do it again.
11:33That's just what they wanted to hear.
11:34I thought he handled himself well there.
11:37I've seen crews with them and all the guys of the how they look, how they look, another
11:42thing.
11:43Interesting.
11:44You know, given the dynamics, Ray Allen had had the falling out with Garnett and the three
11:48of them were there together and interacted, laughing and joking all night long.
11:53Nice to see way back in the fold, you know what I mean?
11:56And so that was good.
11:57And then they were interacting with Donnie Wahlberg was sitting near them, you know,
12:00we had.
12:01Oh, yeah.
12:02Yeah.
12:04And it was it was it was well done for those.
12:08I'll say this, because, again, as I said, the first time I met Jason Tatum, he said
12:14about two words and even even through the years, I mean, even when he was a rookie,
12:21he didn't want to get up there on the podium.
12:23He didn't really want to talk.
12:24He wasn't comfortable at all for him to get up in front of the garden, in front of that
12:28many people.
12:29The whole thing lasted about 20 seconds, let's be honest, you know, he but but he pulled
12:34it off.
12:35And he said what they wanted to hear.
12:36And it.
12:37Oh, another moment when the coaches got their rings and they came out, you know, introduced
12:42one by one.
12:43Joe Mazzola got to the foul line, knelt down and kissed the floor for you.
12:48That's good.
12:49He is a unique individual.
12:50We don't need to get him on the pod.
12:53We're pulling back all the layers from him.
12:55You know, I mean, oh, the guy, this guy's got a lot of layers.
12:57We didn't know.
12:58Who knew?
12:59Who knew anything about Joe Mazzola?
13:00You know, I just remember him as a player at West Virginia, period.
13:03End of story.
13:04So I knew nothing about him.
13:05I didn't even know he was from Providence, Rhode Island.

14:01I'm with you on the Knicks.
14:03You know, they're not as obviously they weren't as bad as they looked in a 30 point loss.
14:08And you also got to take into account here, they got Carl Anthony Towns, you know, three
14:11weeks ago.
14:13So it's going to take some time for him to acclimate with those guys.
14:16But I will say, as much as everybody's like, okay, now they got their wings, you know,
14:22Ananobi and Bridges that can guard and compete with Tatum and Jalen Brown.
14:27Listen, Jalen Brown and Tatum are up here.
14:31Bridges and Ananobi are down here.
14:33Well, I was keeping monitoring the point differentials between the pair, the Celtic pair and the
14:39Knick pair.
14:40And you know, one point was 59 to 14 and you know, I've seen what the final was now.
14:46But that's opening night and you know, and I'm telling you, I don't know what exactly
14:53Tom Thibodeau was saying to him, but I said, this is bizarre.
14:56You don't shoot 60% and be down by 29 too often.
15:00That they just ran into the wrong team in the wrong place at the wrong time.
15:03Yeah, they're going to be fine.
15:05All right.
15:06Let's get to the nightcap last night.
15:08Yeah.
15:09Stayed up.
15:10I don't know if you got home to see.
15:11I got home and I had to get up too early.
15:13I said, all right, I'll give you the quick clip notes version here because I did watch
15:18it because before the game, I was shocked to see a quote from JJ Reddick saying, Bronnie
15:25James is going to play tonight.
15:27So I was like, okay, you know what, I'm going to, I'm going to definitely watch this thing
15:30because I thought there was no shot in hell, Bob, that Bronnie James was going to be a
15:34part of, of, of a game beforehand that could be close against Minnesota.
15:40You know, well he, he did, he checked in, they were up, I don't know about 14, 15 points
15:47late in the first half.
15:48And sure enough, Ronnie James gets up and checks in with, with LeBron, I'll say this
15:54as much as I have been hard on Ronnie James being drafted, being on the team right now,
16:02not being worthy of a spot on an NBA roster right now.
16:07I will say like, it was pretty damn cool.
16:10It was cool to watch like as a father, as somebody who also has seen LeBron in this
16:17in AAU, like a lot of them, I, you know, I go out all of July, I've seen LeBron interact
16:23with Bronnie for the last five, six years.
16:27It was again, like there, there are two things here you can, you can have.
16:33And one of them is, like I said, I don't think Bronnie's worthy of an, of a spot right now
16:39in the NBA, but you can also be really happy for LeBron James that he was able to have
16:45this moment with his son.
16:46Yeah.
16:47No, I mean, it's, it's special.
16:48It's, it's very special.
16:49Yeah.
16:50Not many people can relate to it.
16:51You'd have to talk to the Griffies, right?
16:52You'd have to talk to, I mean, I, or Gordie Howe's gone, so you can't tell, but that's
16:58the first we ever knew.
16:59But anyway, no, it's, it's a special moment.
17:00There's no question.
17:01I just, do you, I, I'm just among those who are just saying, you know, but does Bronnie
17:06really belong, deserve to be on this team as opposed to other guys in the G league who,
17:11you know, have paid their dues.
17:14I'll answer that for you.
17:15No, no, he does not.
17:16He does not deserve to be on.
17:18If his name was not Bronnie James, he would be in college right now for a second year
17:23at USC.
17:24Yeah.
17:25I mean, that's going to be an open question and then open up the whole question of why
17:28is JJ Riddick coaching this team?
17:31You know, you know, I don't want to go too far off the deep end, but we'll, we'll see
17:34how it works out.
17:36But is he coaching Bob?
17:38Is he coaching?
17:39Or is LeBron?
17:40I tweeted that too.
17:41When I saw that he said that Bronnie was going to play, I said, all right, this shows me
17:45that JJ is really not the coach.
17:47Yeah.
17:48I mean, I think it's a fair question.
17:51It's a highly unusual circumstance.
17:53So coaches, that's what it is.
17:55It's co-coaches LeBron and JJ Riddick are, are coaching this team together in some regard,
18:01aren't they?
18:02Yeah.
18:03Well, they're partners.
18:04They've been previously been podcast partners and, you know, they're here we go, you know,
18:07so oh yeah.
18:09This is the most wonderful time of the year.
18:11Yes.
18:12The NBA season, folks.
18:13It is the best.
18:15Look, the NFL is great.
18:18I understand.
18:19But if you're looking into star power, celebrity, entertainment, it's the NBA, there's no doubt
18:26about it.
18:27And my Celtics, I'm looking for them to defend.
18:29We need it.
18:30We need a new dynasty in the NBA.
18:32We need one.
18:33Okay.
18:34And I think this Celtic group can do it.
18:36I know the Celtic group can do it.
18:37You know who else, from what I understand, is a Celtic fan is Hugh Jackman.
18:41Yes.
18:42Wolverine himself, the greatest showman, Hugh Jackman is a big Celtic fan.
18:47And if you're like us and you want to check out the Celtics or maybe any other team that
18:50happens to be coming to town to try to knock off the kings of the NBA, the Celtics, make
18:55sure you go to GameTime.
18:57Download the GameTime app.
18:58Now GameTime, and you can get your Celtics tickets there.
19:00It's real easy to do.
19:02GameTime has a new feature called GameTime Picks that makes getting tickets to see your
19:07favorite teams play live even easier because GameTime Picks filters up the fluff, right?
19:12To show you incredible deals and great seats so you don't have to waste time searching
19:17through thousands of tickets.
19:19Like when I go to my GameTime app, it says Celtics game, right there, boom, pops up.
19:22How much the price is, I'm ready to go.

19:26They have super deals.

20:29are already up on GameTime.
20:31Not bad either.
20:32Not bad at all.
20:35And the Jingle Ball Kiss, the Kiss, you know, the iHeart, iHeart Jingle Ball at the Garden.
20:40You can get tickets on that too, and they always have big stars around Christmas time.
20:44So all in pricing, toggling, they call it toggling.
20:48It shows you everything up front.

21:20Download GameTime today.
21:22What time is it?
21:23It's GameTime.
21:24Well, anyway, the Lakers opened up against, beat the Twins, beat the Timberwolves, who
21:27I think are the team people like very much in the West.
21:31Well, they liked.
21:32So here's the deal, Bob.
21:34I like them.
21:35I don't know about you.
21:36They had momentum.
21:37They came off a great postseason last year.
21:40And Tim Connolly goes out and trades Karl-Anthony Towns in a deal that brings Julius Randle.
21:46And I think a lot of people are shaking their heads, and I'm watching them last night, and
21:49I'm like, I don't know.
21:51I just don't know if this was the right move.
21:53Yeah, I question that, too.
21:55I definitely question that, too.
21:58So by the way, Gary and I were talking last we met about these ESPN's top 10 NBA players.
22:07Yeah.
22:08I don't know if you know that list.
22:09I didn't see it.
22:10No.
22:11No.
22:12Number 10 was on the floor last night.
22:13Anthony Edwards.
22:14What?
22:15Oh, the top 10 of current.
22:17Current.
22:18Current.
22:19Kevin Durant, 8, Embiid, 7, LeBron, 6, Curry, 5, the highest ranked American-born player,
22:29Jason Tatum.
22:30Wow.
22:31Because the 4, 3, and 2, and 1 are all internationals.
22:34Okay.
22:35SGA is 4.
22:36He's Canadian.
22:37People keep forgetting.
22:38You know.
22:39Giannis is 3, Luka is 2, and Djokic is 1.
22:44And that's the order that they have.
22:47Anyway, Anthony Edwards, he had 27 last night.
22:50He's up and running.
22:52He might be, honestly, I might put him, and this is crazy for me to say because I was
22:57one of the skeptics of Edwards coming out of college because he was so bad and the team
23:02was so bad.
23:03And I remember, I do remember those discussions.
23:05Yeah.
23:06I just, I didn't know how it would work, especially in Minnesota with, you know, not a lot of,
23:12not a lot of leadership around him other than Mike Conley, right?
23:16Mike Conley, I think, has been huge for him.
23:18But I might put in Edwards above, I might put him at 6, and Tatum.
23:26And there's a guy that played last night that I thought, he reminded us yet again how good
23:31he is when he's available to play in Addis Quo's, you know who, AD.
23:36Yeah.
23:37Oh, he was terrific last night.
23:39He's so good.
23:40And just a matter of, is he going to show up tonight or next Tuesday or whatever day
23:44you need him, you know?
23:46And he's really good.
23:48And so, oh, by the way, the Lakers, should they have shot three points in contrast to
23:53the Celtics?
23:54Not good.
23:55Not good.
23:56Five for 30.
23:57Yeah.
23:58They were taking a lot of them.
23:59Five for 30.
24:00But if you don't have shooters, here's the problem.
24:02If you don't have good enough shooters, like it's hard to play the style that JJ Redick
24:08wants them to play.
24:10Like they don't have a knockdown shooter.
24:13Maybe Austin Reeves might be their ultimate, and he was over five last night.
24:17Would Kinect turn out to be that guy?
24:19Who?
24:20Kinect.
24:21Yeah.
24:22Yeah.
24:23Dalton Kinect.
24:24Listen, he came off the bench.
24:25He gave him a jolt.
24:26I think he's got to play more.
24:27I think he's got to play more.
24:28Just a quick flash.
24:30Tyler Kolek made his NBA debut last night, and almost his first possession flashed to
24:37the hoop.
24:38Boom.
24:39It was Brunson-like.
24:40And Brunson goes to the hoop.
24:41You've got to see him in person and realize the way he plays.
24:44Brunson.
24:45I talked to Brunson about Kolek.
24:48I talked to Jalen about Kolek.
24:49Yeah.
24:50I heard good things about Kolek.
24:51He loves Kolek.
24:52He loves him.
24:53And I said, I go, he's like a mini-you in some ways.
24:56More mentality.
24:57Well, see, that's my impression.
24:58And of course, he is a southpaw, too, and you can't help it.
25:01But he flashes to the hoop, boy.
25:04Don't sleep on him.
25:05I can see that right away.
25:09The Lakers shot 5-for-30, which means they were 37-for-65 on twos.
25:13And they won the game.
25:14110-102.
25:15And LeBron wasn't great.
25:19LeBron was not great in this game.
25:20He was kind of average, actually below average, LeBron.
25:25But they got, again, a monster game from Anthony Davis with 36 points and 16 rebounds.
25:32So if they get that, you know, again, I think Minnesota is, again, a team that might get
25:38off to a slow start here because they're going to try to figure it out.
25:41And I'm not sure they're going to figure it out to the same level that they did last year.
25:44I'm not sure that, you know, I don't know if it's going to be a one-off.
25:48But I don't know if we're going to see Ann Edwards go as deep in the playoffs like that.
25:54Because Conley's getting older.
25:55And if Randolph has been in, I don't know, I have some questions.
26:00All right.
26:01Let's finish with the Sixers, Bob.
26:04And the fact that they will not have Joel Embiid or Paul George on the court for the
26:10opener is going to be par for the course.
26:14I just think this isn't going to work in Philly.
26:17I mean, no.
26:18That's the whole issue.
26:19It's the whole issue.
26:20I mean, and I thought they had done a nice job in theory.
26:23They picked up George and they bolstered the bench with, you know, two or three useful
26:27guys, you know.
26:29And I thought that, but once again, it's all the if, the great what if.
26:33Yeah.
26:34Is Embiid going to play?
26:35And now is George going to play?
26:37Yeah.
26:38I mean, you can't get overly excited about Philadelphia.
26:41They just got to hope when April comes that they can put the five guys on the, you know,
26:45the people on the floor, the one on the floor.
26:46I mean, everybody has to feel that way.
26:48But obviously, we know that.
26:49But look, the Celtics, you know, you don't want to go in the playoffs without Pushing
26:52us or any one of the regulars.
26:54But the Sixers, this is just the daily reality, you know.
26:58So I can't get excited as excited about them, you know.
27:04I've told you, too.
27:05I think the problem is going to be Paul George's 34.
27:08He's already missing some games to start off the season, which means it's going to take
27:12him some time to maybe get back.
27:13They're going to lose a bunch of games early.
27:16Sixers fans.
27:17We know how they are, Bob.
27:18We know how Sixers fans are probably the least forgiving of any in all of sports in terms
27:25of Philly fans.
27:26Am I wrong?
27:27Yeah.
27:29You're right.
27:30You're right.
27:31It's going to be, you know, well, it's people.
27:32I hope they get, you know, they get the thing gets framed so that so they understand whether
27:36they want to believe it or not, what they will not understand.
27:39They will not understand.
27:40All they want to do is win.
27:41And if they're not winning, which I think, you know, again, the Knicks are better, better.
27:47You know, Milwaukee will see what they do here without Chris Middleton.
27:50Middleton, once again, that's another guy that you can't count on.
27:54This could be it.
27:55I feel like we've seen the last of the Chris Middleton that we saw a couple of years ago.
28:02The next tier, the ones to keep your eye on, cause a little trouble, Indiana, Cleveland.
28:09And Orlando, you know, with Boncaro, we both agree on Paulo Boncaro, right?
28:19He's the next big thing in the East.
28:21He's a beast.
28:22I mean, I remember seeing him.
28:24The first time I saw him was at the Olympic something, Olympic deal or in Colorado Springs.
28:30And I looked at this dude and I was like, Chris Webber, like this guy reminds me of
28:36he was so big as like a 15, 16 year old.
28:40And then I saw him play in high school out in Seattle.
28:43I was out there for a Washington game, a Washington trip.
28:46And I saw him.
28:47Funny story.
28:48I don't know if I ever told you this story, but we're out there for a high school game.
28:53I think they were playing at, I don't know if they're playing at O'Day high school.
29:00But we're waiting outside and it's raining and the gym is packed.
29:04We got there just before the game started or I got there and we're waiting outside and
29:11I'm waiting and Jamal Crawford walks up and he's waiting and I'm waiting.
29:17And again, they're not letting anybody in.
29:18The game has started at this point.
29:21You know, somebody's calling somebody inside to tell him, well, Jamal Crawford's out here.
29:25We might want to get Jamal Crawford in.
29:27He's kind of what Seattle basketball is all about, right?
29:31And I'm not kidding.
29:33Like Jamal Crawford.
29:34This was like the coolest thing to see from a guy like this.
29:38He never said a word.
29:39He just sat out there.
29:40He and I sat out there for the better part of the first half.
29:43We missed probably the first quarter.
29:45I bet.
29:46You know, he didn't say one word where a lot of players would have been like, get me in
29:49there.
29:51Bullshit.
29:52He was just like.
29:53Yeah.
29:54Yeah.
29:55Good to hear.
29:56Good.
29:57I like to hear stories like that.
29:58So.
29:59All right.
30:00Well, listen, we'll be back later this week.
30:01A lot more coming up, obviously, with the NBA finally getting going here.
30:07We got real games.
30:08I'll tell you who's got my attention.
30:10And I just got through reading the Sports Illustrated cover story on Wembiana.
30:15And I just can't wait to see him play again.
30:20Well, you can't wait to see him get better players around him so that he plays in relevant
30:24games.
30:25That's what I want for Victor.
30:26Right.
30:27Yeah.
30:28We all want.
30:29You want to see him in the playoffs like next year.
30:31Oh, yeah.
30:32Yeah.
30:33I mean, which is a tough order.
30:35Certainly it's going to be asking a lot.
30:37But he is something we he could he could turn out to be something that we've never seen.
30:44And that's it.
30:45And you want to be careful with these kind of superlatives.
30:47But sometimes they are warranted.
30:49It's like in baseball.
30:50You know, who would have somebody would have told you 25 years ago, there'd be this Japanese
30:53guy who is a young candidate and could win a triple crown in the same year.
30:59You'd laugh.
31:00That's why.
31:01Twenty, twenty five.
31:02That might happen when he goes back to the mound.
31:04Well, anyway, Wembiana, seven, four guy with guard skills and and extraordinary intelligence,
31:11high high IQ to go with this physical package.
31:15And oh, my God.
31:17So look out world.
31:19No doubt.
31:20All right.
31:21Well, we'll see you next week.
31:22Thanks for joining us again.
