00:00I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
00:06We praise Him and send blessings upon His noble Messenger.
00:10He is extremely worthy of reverence.
00:14People are better than me. Peace be upon you.
00:30Today we will talk about the rights of parents.
00:40In Surah Bani Israel, verses 23 and 24, Allah says
00:56The meaning of these verses is that you should not associate anyone with Allah.
01:04And then it was said that you should treat your parents well.
01:12And then it was said that if you have a grudge against them,
01:24you should not even call them uf.
01:31And then you should treat them with humility and respect.
01:41And you should pray to Allah to have mercy on them as they raised you.
01:51Then in Surah Luqman, verses 13, 14, and 15, it was said that
02:01when Prophet Luqman told his son not to associate anyone with Allah,
02:07this is a great injustice.
02:10And then it was said that you should treat your parents well.
02:17And then it was said that if someone's parents are polytheists
02:31and they want to take him towards Shirk,
02:36Allah says that you should not do this.
02:45Allah says that you should not do this.
02:49You should not do this in obedience to your parents.
02:55This is against Islam.
02:58Then Allah says that you should continue to serve them.
03:05You should not let their expenses decrease.
03:10You should not decrease their services.
03:13He is a merciful and generous person.
03:18His parents are polytheists.
03:22But you should treat them well.
03:25But you should not be against Allah or the Prophet or religion.
03:30But you should still be polite.
03:34And you should serve them.
03:37Because when an old man orders his son to be against Islam,
03:45if he is a polytheist or a disbeliever,
03:48then it is possible that his son will get excited and say something like this.
03:55So in order to compensate for this,
03:59because Islam presents a beautiful system of justice,
04:04Allah says that you should continue to serve them.
04:11You should not let their expenses decrease.
04:17This is being balanced.
04:21So Islam is a religion in which there is so much respect for human rights
04:30that it is not found in any other religion.
04:35Then there is a Hadith of Tukhari Muslim,
04:42in which a person asked,
04:47O Messenger of Allah, which is Allah's favorite deed?
04:54The Prophet replied,
04:591. Offering Salah on time.
05:062. Treating parents well.
05:103. Jihad.
05:14So in this Hadith too,
05:16the Salah which is Tawheed,
05:18which is Allah's,
05:20along with it, the parents are given the responsibility
05:23to treat their parents well.
05:27This Hadith is number 314 in the Jildawwal of Fiyaz-us-Saleheen.
05:37Then there is another Hadith,
05:40in the 6th Jild of Ma'arif-ul-Hadith,
05:44which is number 28,
05:47in which it is said that
05:49Allah's approval lies in the approval of the parents.
05:54This is the Hadith of Tirmidhi.
05:57And Allah's displeasure lies in the displeasure of the parents.
06:02Now all these things are being requested
06:07that in the era in which we are going through,
06:11even in the homes of our Muslims,
06:16there was no importance of these things.
06:21We have become westernized.
06:25We have gone towards the West,
06:28and we have adopted more of their culture.
06:31But their character,
06:34the character that Islam had given us,
06:38they have adopted it,
06:40and we have adopted their culture.
06:42This is the matter.
06:44Now here there is one thing,
06:46which is mentioned in many Hadiths,
06:51in one of the Hadiths,
06:53that a boy came,
06:56and he said to the Prophet,
06:58that I want to do Jihad.
07:01So the Prophet said,
07:03who is in your house?
07:05His parents,
07:07and no one else.
07:09So the Prophet said,
07:11go back and serve them,
07:13this is your Jihad.
07:15There are many such Hadiths.
07:18And there is an incident,
07:20which you must have heard a long time ago,
07:22I have also mentioned it many times,
07:25of Hazrat Awais-e-Qarni,
07:28that he loved the Prophet a lot.
07:34And the visit of the Prophet,
07:39was the most important purpose of his life.
07:44But when he wanted to go for his preparation,
07:51when he found out that
07:56his mother was ill,
07:59he stopped him from going.
08:04Now the reason for saying this is,
08:10that Awais-e-Qarni was a great test.
08:15The Prophet whom he loved,
08:19that Prophet is present physically,
08:23he has the means,
08:25he can go and visit the Prophet.
08:27But when the Prophet is forbidding him,
08:31to visit his mother,
08:33your mother is alone,
08:35leave my visit.
08:37So there was a test here.
08:40It was a great test.
08:43Only those can understand this test,
08:46who love the Prophet.
08:48It was a great test.
08:51So Awais-e-Qarni decided,
08:55that visiting the Prophet is his desire.
09:00But what is the desire of the Prophet?
09:04And what was the desire of the Prophet?
09:09To visit his mother.
09:11This was his desire and command.
09:15So Awais-e-Qarni sacrificed his desire for the great desire.
09:25And he did not visit the Prophet.
09:30He visited his mother.
09:32So Allah has given such a great status to Awais-e-Qarni,
09:37that the Prophet,
09:40the Prophet said to Hazrat Umar,
09:43who has a great status.
09:45He said to him,
09:47if ever Umar comes in your life,
09:52then make him pray for you.
09:56Umar is the one who is always visiting the Prophet.
10:01And Awais is the one who is not able to visit the Prophet.
10:06The point is,
10:08to follow their command,
10:11or to sacrifice your desire for that command.
10:19When we follow our desires,
10:23and start worshipping our desires,
10:27then many forms of Shirk and Bid'ah are born.
10:33Whether someone wants it or not,
10:36we want it to happen.
10:38We want to do it.
10:41We should see whether the Prophet wants it or not.
10:46If he doesn't want it, then don't do it.
10:49It is up to us to decide.
10:52This is not religion.
10:55The first principle of religion is
11:00to break the idol of ego.
11:04When the idol is broken,
11:06when a person is defeated,
11:09then he prostrates in front of Allah.
11:13He says, I am nothing,
11:16and you are everything.
11:19This is prostration in front of Allah.
11:22And then,
11:24The example of parents has been proven,
11:27that they raise you.
11:29The Quran says in those verses,
11:32that the mother takes such good care of you,
11:34and has mentioned her services.
11:37These are the physical reasons
11:41for raising you,
11:43which I have created.
11:46I raise them,
11:48and I raise the whole universe.
11:51But they have raised you.
11:54So think about it.
11:56When I am saying so much about them,
11:58then at least think about it,
12:01that the physical idols,
12:03which I have created,
12:05I am teaching them so many etiquettes,
12:10then why do you forget the reality of the idols?
12:14So pray to Allah,
12:16that Allah will enable you and me
12:18to follow the instructions of the Quran and Hadith,
12:21and to destroy the Prophet.
