00:00Three police officers pleaded not guilty at the Malacca Sessions Court to two counts of

00:15Corporal Mohamed Najib Mohamed, aged 36, Corporal Mohamed Adam Sam Sudin, 34, and Lance Corporal
00:23Wan Mohamed Fauzi Zulkifli, 29, entered their plea before Judge Elizabeth Paya Wan on Tuesday.
00:30They were accused of soliciting bribes totalling 3,000 ringgit, allegedly as an inducement
00:36to refrain from taking further action against the couple.
00:40The offence occurred at the Malacca Tenga Police Station between 2.40am and 3.30am on
00:46October 7 last year.
00:48They were also accused of accepting the bribe for the same purpose at a tourist police booth
00:52at Jonkar Walk, between 4pm and 4.30pm the same day.
00:57The charges were framed under Section 16, Subsection AB of the MACC Act 2009, read together
01:04with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
01:07All three accused face imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine of at least five times
01:13the value of the gratification, or 10,000 ringgit, whichever is higher, upon conviction.
01:20The court granted bail of 8,000 ringgit, with one surety each, and ordered the trio
01:26to surrender their passports and to report to the MACC office once a month until the
01:32conclusion of the case.
