At the start of the evening the rain over the south-east of England clears off east and England and Wales is then mostly dry and clear. Meanwhile Scotland is cloudy in most places with widespread showers across the country. Overnight a band of rain approaches the UK from the south-west which brings wet weather to the west coast of Wales and south-west England. Meanwhile, the showers in Scotland dissipate and move south into northern England.

00:00Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Turning drier
00:04and clearer as we head through the evening, particularly in the southeast, where thanks
00:08to this weather front that's been lingering through much of the day, that will slowly
00:11start to move away and we'll get some drier and clearer conditions moving in. We do have
00:15a second frontal system arriving from the northwest and that will be giving some cloud
00:19and some outbreaks into the start of Tuesday morning. But back to this evening. So this
00:24is the area of rain that's just been lingering on across the far southeast that will continue
00:28to move away as we head overnight, with plenty of clear spells developing across most of
00:32the southern half of England. This area of rain, though, does are being to arrive from
00:36the west into the early hours of Tuesday, giving some blustery conditions for the southwest
00:42of Cornwall and parts of western Wales as well. Showers continuing again for parts of
00:47Northern Ireland and particularly for parts of northwest Scotland. Away from these areas
00:52of rain, though, it will be quite a chilly night temperatures down into single figures
00:55across the southeast of England. And here it could be some mist and fog patches to start
00:59the day as well. Slightly milder underneath the cloud and with that extra wind. And again,
01:04a fairly chilly start across parts of Scotland, too. So heading through Tuesday morning, so
01:09generally quite a bright day away from those mist and fog patches, which will clear pretty
01:13quickly. We do have this area of rain slowly going to be starting to sink further southeast
01:17as we head through Tuesday morning. Those showers will be breaking up as well as that
01:21cloud and lots of plenty of sunny spells developing by the time we head in towards
01:26Tuesday afternoon. Similarly, for Northern Ireland and Scotland, where there are quite
01:30a lot of showers on Monday, much more bright skies here. Winds generally lighter for much
01:35of the UK, but still staying pretty breezy across the far northern half of Scotland.
01:41Temperatures are going to be in the mid mid-teens and feeling generally quite pleasant if you're
01:46in that sunshine. But again, further north, only eleven or twelve with that strong westerly
01:50breeze, particularly across Orkney and Shetland. It will be feeling fairly brisk in that breeze
01:56heading through Tuesday evening. So this area of rain across the south is slowly going to
02:00be starting to sink away with more clear skies developing through Tuesday evening. Some areas
02:05of showers lingering on some coastal parts and turning cloudier and generally windier
02:09across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland into the early hours of Wednesday. So again,
02:14underneath the clear sky, underneath the cloud and with the wind generally milder across
02:18the northwest. But we do still see some fairly crisp and cool nights, temperatures overnight
02:24in towards Wednesday morning. And it's Wednesday morning with these clear skies and these lower
02:28temperatures more in the way of mist and fog patches to start the day. So these mist and
02:33fog patches may linger a little bit longer on Wednesday morning. But by the time we head
02:37through to the mid morning, they should have largely cleared away. We do start to see some
02:41showers developing from the south and pushing up. But on the whole, it's going to be a largely
02:45dry day. We've got these southerly winds pushing up from the south, turning a little bit breezy
02:49across the western half of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland as well. But on the whole,
02:53just a scattering of showers for people. And if you start seeing some brighter spells through
02:58the afternoon, temperatures again are going to be in the mid teens and where you see that
03:02sunshine and some shelter from that wind. Another fairly pleasant day on Wednesday.
03:08So heading through the evening, it'll be another dry and fine evening across most of the south.
