00:00Good day, you beautiful people. Welcome to Issa Does Tech where we do tech in your life in style.
00:20Today is a beautiful hair day because we're testing out the new generation Dyson Airwrap.
00:26We're not only looking at this for the first time, we're also putting it side by side
00:30with the old Dyson Airwrap to see what the differences are.
00:33And as you may have noticed, yes, we're trying it out in this video.
00:40This is the Dyson Airwrap complete set. Let's see what attachments are part of this.
00:45Wow! Of course, we get the same really nice Dyson case.
01:01You get the styler. We have a firm smoothing brush, soft smoothing brush,
01:08and the new curling barrels. We'll talk more on how we use this later on in the video.
01:16Also new, the multi-purpose Coanda smoothing brush, the round volumizing brush for drying
01:21and styling, and this also comes with a machine cleaner. Right, so what's new? First off,
01:29these new barrels now work on both sides of your head. Instead of switching barrels to switch the
01:34direction of the curls, you just switch the toggle on the top of the barrel instead. The barrels are
01:41now longer, so that means it's easier for people with longer hair like me.
01:45The Coanda smoothing tool is also new, so this replaces the drying tool on the previous Airwrap,
01:52but this also is a styling tool. Toggle arrow to the other side and use this to smooth out frizz
01:57from your hair. Similar to the Dyson Supersonic smoothing tool, and no, this wasn't an attachment
02:04available for the Dyson Airwrap before. The soft smoothing brush and the firm smoothing brush for
02:09finer and coarser hair respectively have also been re-engineered, basically to allow for more
02:15airflow. Not necessarily new, but I wanted to talk about this because I didn't know this up until I
02:20saw a viral TikTok. This is the filter cleaner and pro tip you need to be cleaning your Airwrap
02:26regularly. Now just to point out, these attachments are new, but the Dyson Airwrap
02:31machine remains the same, and these attachments remain compatible to the older Airwrap. Let's
02:37look at the old Airwrap side by side with a new Airwrap, and both still come with really nice
02:43cases. And like I mentioned, there are no changes on the machine itself. The difference for these
02:49two are the attachments. Obviously we have more with the older Airwrap, less barrels for the new
02:55Airwrap because you don't need two to do your full head. Diameters for both barrels more or less look
03:00the same, except like you saw, it is a longer barrel for the newer Airwrap. Smooth and firming
03:06brushes look the same, but they do seem to have more movement on them, and I feel like this is
03:11because, again, they're re-engineered to get more airflow. Round volumizing brush seems like it's
03:17the same. And finally, the Kawanda smoothing brush, which is very different from the previous
03:22counterpart, which is just the drying attachment. But yeah, in terms of bulk, you see there are less
03:28moving parts with the new Dyson Airwrap. Easier to travel with now, though I will say that these
03:35Airwraps are still not dual voltage. So I just showered because your hair does need to be wet
03:44when you use a Dyson Airwrap. I still need to be drying this a little bit more, so we're gonna try
03:49the Kawanda styling tool. This thing replaces the dryer, but it's pretty interesting because it also
03:57is a styler, so it does two things. When the knob is here, you see this slit here, it becomes a dryer,
04:05so that's what we're gonna be using. Because my hair has been bleached and colored, it does take a
04:12while for me to dry it. Also why I like the Airwrap, because it doesn't damage my already damaged hair
04:19as much every time I style it. So air does come from a smaller area compared to the previous Airwrap's
04:25attachment. Despite that though, there is enough air pressure here, it's pretty powerful.
04:35I have long thick hair, so I really like the fact that we have longer barrels now.
04:39How these new ones work, it depends which side you're gonna use the barrel on, so I'm gonna use
04:43it on this side, we flip it here, grab a piece of hair.
04:57We have the first curl, so this is with the wider barrel. I didn't realize this, but a lot of people
05:03didn't know that you're supposed to do like a hot shot, and then towards the end, like press it up
05:09so that you finish with a cold shot. I think parts of my hair are still a little wet,
05:14but you get the idea. Now if I want to try the other side, just do that.
05:32The secret to Airwrap styling is that it has to be like just a little bit wet, but not
05:38too wet. Compared to the older Airwrap where you had to switch barrels for each side, this is
05:44pretty convenient. Let's try the thinner barrel. Even if you just used it, you can handle it
05:49with the tip of the barrel, that part doesn't get hot.
05:57Oh, wrong direction. Okay.
06:01So this is the newer one with a tighter curl, so as you can see, let's fluff it up a little bit.
06:16So you'll know if your hair is still a little bit too wet because it's heavy from the moisture,
06:21and when you turn it on and put it towards your hair, hair doesn't like curl on the barrel.
06:26So you see that this strand is still a little bit too wet.
06:37One other reason why I love the Airwrap is because I can reach the back of my head
06:42without even looking.
06:57And here we are, finished product. Now take note, I did this all by myself using the camera
07:07screen as a mirror. If there are strands that aren't like curly, that's probably because I
07:13didn't see them. Final thoughts, I'm sold. Using the first generation Dyson Airwrap was already
07:24very convenient versus my alternative of using a curling iron. For many reasons. One, it's less
07:29damaging to my very colored hair. Two, it was just easier to maneuver. Three, I feel like it was way
07:35safer versus using a hot iron. And with the new generation Dyson Airwrap, it's even more convenient.
07:41Wait, I forgot something because it wasn't part of my old hair wrap routine. So this styling tool
07:47can also be a smoothing tool. When I curl my hair with Airwrap, usually up here I have stray hair,
07:53so let's see how this will work. First up, I need to switch this to there. And then you need to flip
08:02the bar to which side you're going to use it on. I'm told the easy way to tell is to just like
08:07flip it the direction you're using.
08:17Hey, I feel like that did work. Here's another before and after that shows the difference and I
08:22shot this after I shot the video because guys, it's hard to do your hair and shoot the video at
08:25the same time, but you can definitely see how it smoothens away frizz. Right, that's it for today's
08:31video. Let me know what your questions are down in the comment section down below. If you want to
