00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be revisiting the Galaxy S20 FE.
00:04This is a phone that a lot of people have requested and I still think it's a pretty
00:08good phone.
00:09Now, if you are in the market for, you know, an older flagship, this phone is still kind
00:15of unique because it's getting security patches and it also has SD card support.
00:20So that's pretty much the main selling point of the S20 FE for going into 2024 is that
00:26it still has the SD card support and it's still relatively cheap.
00:31And yeah, the phone itself, let's see, it's still sitting at around, I think, yeah, $174.
00:38So around $174 to $200.
00:40But if you don't care about SD card support, I highly recommend that you get a Galaxy S21
00:46FE.
00:47It's just going to be a much better phone.
00:49It gets longer updates as well too.
00:51You can see the price range, they're almost about the same price as well too.
00:56But yeah, this phone does have SD card support.
00:58So for anybody who takes a lot of video, downloads a lot of games, just content in general, this
01:05phone is going to be great because you have that expandable storage.
01:08Now one of the best things about the S20 FE is that it's still a very, very fast phone.
01:15So this phone has a Snapdragon 865 chipset on here and it's also got the Android 13 OneUI
01:215.1 update on here as well too.
01:24And this phone is blazing fast still.
01:26Snapdragon 865, micro SD card support, 128 gigs of internal storage, and 6 gigs of RAM
01:32on the base model.
01:33And it's still able to play PUBG at HDR Extreme.
01:37And yeah, it's really honestly could do the 90 frames but it just hasn't got that support.
01:44But this phone is really, really fast for gaming guys.
01:46So like I said, if you download a lot of games, then this phone is going to be great for you
01:52because again, you have that expandable storage.
01:55And expandable storage is an interesting thing because Samsung took it away from the flagships
02:01with the S20 One and up.
02:03So you don't get any more expandable storage with those phones.
02:07So this is kind of like, it's like the Note 20 Ultra.
02:11You know, people really want that SD card support for the expandable storage.
02:15But as you guys can see, it's just super, super fast.
02:17When it comes to PUBG, you easily can play this at 60 frames.
02:22And again guys, to touch on performance, this phone is blazing fast.
02:25If you guys want to compare the Geekbench numbers here, I think these are the correct
02:30numbers here.
02:32And you guys can see how it compares.
02:33It's just a very fast phone in general.
02:36Even when you're scrolling or just, you know, in the web browser or whatever, it's really
02:41fast.
02:42And I think the One UI, Android 13 at least, made this phone actually a lot more faster
02:46than when it first came out.
02:47It used to have a lot of little glitches and stuff for some reason, but it's actually gotten
02:54better with age.
02:55So it's pretty interesting.
02:56These phones actually have been getting faster and just smoother with more updates.
03:02Now also, again, that's why I said the S21 FE will be a good buy because that phone will
03:08get Android 15 and 16.
03:11It already got the Android 14 update that I showed you guys.
03:14But yeah, this phone is still blazing fast.
03:16It's not really slow at all.
03:18The display on here is not dated at all.
03:21It's a very good panel.
03:22It's a 6.5 inch display.
03:24It is a 1080p panel, 407 for the PPI.
03:27It has the 120 hertz and it has the HDR 10+.
03:31It still looks really good, guys, and it does a decent job in direct sunlight, you know,
03:35outdoors.
03:36Completely flat panel and I think it's still absolutely awesome display, especially for
03:42the price.
03:43Really nice and vibrant display on here.
03:46And yeah, it has a little bit of bezel, but honestly, you know, it's not that big of a
03:51deal.
03:52What's funny is that it has as much bezel as the newer S23 FE, you know, which is interesting,
03:57which I had, you know, check that video out.
03:59But yeah, I still think display on here looks really great, guys.
04:04The design on this phone is not bad at all.
04:06It's a very comfortable phone to hold for the most part as well.
04:10So it fits in the palm really smoothly.
04:12It's got this plastic back on here and honestly, I haven't had too many issues with this phone.
04:18You can see quality-wise, I don't have any like major scuffs and scratches.
04:21I do take, I am really careful with my phones, but I'm surprised this plastic is not all
04:26scratched up.
04:27But yeah, it has like that kind of like that matte finish to it, but it is a plastic back.
04:32It's IP68 dust and water resistant and it can pick up like oil really easily from your
04:38hands.
04:39The sides are metal, so it does have like that kind of premium feel to it, so it doesn't
04:43feel too cheap.
04:44Overall, I think the hardware, I think it still looks fairly decent.
04:47But yeah, I have no issues with the build quality on here.
04:51I think it's still pretty nice.
04:53The speakers on the S20 FE are still pretty decent.
05:09The speakers are still pretty decent, pretty good amount of bass, pretty good mids and
05:16highs.
05:17Overall, not bad at all.
05:19You do have an optical fingerprint scanner on here, which works fine.
05:22Haven't had too many issues with it.
05:24Like I said, it's not as fast as the ultrasonic.
05:26You do have to apply a little bit of pressure to these, but you can always use the face
05:30unlock.
05:31And yes, this phone does have the Samsung desktop support.
05:33It does have the reverse wireless power sharing on here and basically all the other stuff
05:38that most Samsung flagships have, except for like the S Pen support.
05:42All right, so I do want to touch on the cameras.
05:45So this phone has a 12 megapixel standard and an 8 megapixel telephoto.
05:50It has three times optical zoom and then a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
05:54It can shoot in 4K 60 on the front and back.
05:57It has a 32 megapixel selfie.
05:59So the cameras on here, yeah, they have aged a little bit for going into 2024, especially
06:06comparing it to some of the newer phones.
06:09I think the only thing that has kind of aged for me that I can like obviously tell is probably
06:13the front facing camera.
06:15It is a little bit soft.
06:16Like even if I'm outdoors, yeah, it can be a little bit soft and sometimes white balance
06:22can be off.
06:23And even if you turn the skin smoothing off, you still get kind of like a really smooth
06:28look.
06:30And yeah, it does like kind of like that skin bleaching thing.
06:34But other than that, like the main cameras are actually still pretty good.
06:39They're not like super high, you know, res cameras, but they definitely get the job done.
06:45Really good dynamic range, the really nice popping color on here, great detail.
06:50This phone doesn't do that great in low light.
06:54You know, compared to the newer phones, it does okay.
06:57If you're in like kind of lower light situation, you will get kind of like a softer photo.
07:04But video is solid.
07:06It's a solid device for sure when it comes to overall picture taking, especially for
07:10the price point.
07:11It's still going to take better pictures than like an A34 or something like that.
07:15So the cameras on here are pretty good, but like I said, you can see like the age a little
07:18bit when it comes to like, you know, selfies and stuff like that for sure.
07:23But other than that, I think this still takes pretty good, you know, photos and videos for
07:28the most part, especially if you're in outdoor lighting.
07:31Alright guys, I do want to touch on battery life with this phone.
07:34It has a 4500 mAh battery.
07:37It also has 25 watt wire charging on here.
07:41And like I said, you do have that wireless and reverse wireless charging on here.
07:47You get pretty good battery life with this phone, even for the age of the phone.
07:49I haven't swapped my battery at all, but I'm still able to get around close to six hours
07:56of screen on time.
07:57If you're playing games, then you could probably knock that down to around like five something,
08:02maybe like 530.
08:04But yeah, so overall, it's a pretty good device guys, for the most part.
08:09Like I said, if you don't need the SD card support, go with something else like the S21FE,
08:15S21, something like that.
08:19But if you do need it and you like this size device at 6.5, it's still a really good phone.
08:24It has pretty much all the same flagship stuff as the newer phones, and again, it's not going
08:30to get updates or anything like that.
08:31It's only getting security patches.
08:33So yeah, so take that into consideration.
08:35I still think it's a pretty good buy.
08:37Still, I'm surprised at how much faster the phone actually is compared to when I first
08:42got it.
08:43Alright, so let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
