00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be revisiting the Google Pixel 6 Pro in 2024 here.
00:06This phone has come down in price, it hasn't really moved since the last time I looked at it.
00:10It's around like $233, it hasn't really dropped too much since the last time.
00:14But this is a really really fantastic phone in that $200 price range that you can consider.
00:21So this phone, it did get the Android 14 update and I remember this phone when it first launched
00:27with a whole bunch of bugs and it was super buggy.
00:30But even with the Android 14 update, this phone has became, I think, a lot smoother
00:35and also performance is definitely a little bit better on here now and it's nowhere near as buggy
00:40as when it first came out.
00:42So that's also one really nice thing about phones, getting software updates
00:46and making the experience much better over time.
00:49So one of my favorite things about the Pixel 6 Pro is the display.
00:53So I think the design overall in general with the Pixel 6 Pro is really well considering that
00:58if you look at Google's past flagships before this, they weren't as well designed as this phone.
01:03I think this one, you know, Google has kept with this design.
01:07I think the screen on here is just really really nice.
01:10The LTPO AMOLED display, it's 120Hz HDR10 Plus at 6.7 inches.
01:15It's a full 1440p display at 512 for the PPI.
01:20And it is a really really nice panel.
01:22It is a curved panel as well which is something that I don't really mind.
01:25I actually like the curved look.
01:27But yeah, the display on here, it's really nice and vibrant.
01:31And yeah, it's just an overall an excellent display here.
01:34I have really no issues at all.
01:36It does get, you know, fairly bright outdoors.
01:39It's not anything super crazy like the newer phones but you can definitely see it in direct sunlight.
01:44And this phone is actually easy to hold as well too.
01:46It's not as sharp as something like the Galaxy S24 or something like that.
01:50So yeah, I absolutely really like the screen on here.
01:53I think it's aged really well especially for this $200 price point.
01:57It just looks really good.
01:59So if we go ahead and roll into the hardware here.
02:02Google has pretty much kept this design for the most part.
02:05It doesn't really look that much different from the Pixel 8 Pro.
02:08And even the Pixel 9 Pro is still going to have a similar camera bar design here.
02:12So this is a design that I really like.
02:15I think Google has kind of made the design a little bit unique here.
02:19Like I said, it's pretty comfortable to hold and it's a glass and metal phone.
02:23It has that glossy back.
02:25So it is going to pick up fingerprints which Google has moved to like a matte finish.
02:28But I do like this glossy look.
02:30It has a very classy look to it, very shiny look to it.
02:34Yeah, the hardware on here is really nice.
02:36I think it's aged pretty well for the most part.
02:40I like the buttons. They're very clicky, very firm.
02:42So the hardware has definitely kept up since I first got this phone for sure.
02:46When it comes to gaming on the Pixel 6 Pro, it's still a pretty good experience for the most part.
02:51I'm still getting pretty good graphic settings on here.
02:54I can play on Ultra or the Call of Duty Mobile.
02:57And I don't know, it's not bad.
03:00This phone, it does get a little bit warmer than I would like.
03:03You know, which is something that I've noticed definitely from using the Pixel 8 Pro.
03:08These original Tensor chips do get warm.
03:11I've never had this phone really crash on me or anything.
03:13But I'm not like a super, you know, hardcore gamer.
03:17But the specs on here, we do have, again, Android 14, Google Tensor chip, 128 GB of internal storage and 12 GB of RAM on the base model.
03:26So the phone is pretty fast playing the games that I play, Call of Duty, PUBG, pretty much whatever I throw at it.
03:33It still does a pretty decent job.
03:34Like I said, it's not going to go crazy in benchmarks or anything like that.
03:37But as far as gaming, I think for the casual gamer, this is definitely great.
03:42Now, if you're looking for an old flagship to do like gaming on, I would probably go with a Snapdragon processor.
03:48You'll be able to get PUBG at 90 frames.
03:50This one, it doesn't do it for PUBG at 90 frames.
03:53I just think over in general, you get better performance with a Snapdragon.
03:57But if you're a casual gamer, you don't play games a lot, this is easily still a great processor for gaming.
04:03Let's test out the speakers at max volume.
04:08So, the speakers on the 6 Pro are really, really good.
04:12They're really, really good.
04:13They're really, really good.
04:14They're really, really good.
04:15They're really, really good.
04:16They're really, really good.
04:17They're really, really good.
04:18They're really, really good.
04:19They're really, really good.
04:20They're really, really good.
04:21They're really, really good.
04:22They're really, really good.
04:23They're really, really good.
04:24They're really, really good.
04:25They're really, really good.
04:26They're really, really good.
04:27They're really, really good.
04:28They're really, really good.
04:29They're really, really good.
04:30They're really, really good.
04:31They're really, really good.
04:32They're really, really good.
04:33They're really, really good.
04:34So, the speakers on the 6 Pro are really, really good, guys.
04:37These are excellent sounding speakers.
04:39Really good bass quality.
04:40The top speaker does a fantastic job.
04:42These are impressive speakers.
04:44I think Google makes really good speakers in their flagships in general.
04:47So, the fingerprint scanner, it is an optical fingerprint scanner.
04:50Now, it's not the fastest that I've ever used.
04:53Of course, you just have to apply a little bit of pressure.
04:55My only issue with this phone is that the Pixel 6 Pro didn't have any type of face unlock, unfortunately.
05:02So, even if you hate the fingerprint scanner, you can't use face unlock, which is kind of a bummer.
05:08But, it's not too bad.
05:10But, you know, that does kind of suck.
05:12Now, the star of the show with this phone is still the cameras.
05:16The image quality on this phone is absolutely insane.
05:20It's still extremely good.
05:22I would say it's just as good as the latest flagships out right now.
05:26As far as still photography, I'm not exaggerating.
05:29It's really, really good, guys.
05:30It's got a 50-megapixel standard, a 48-megapixel telephoto, 4x optical and a 12-megapixel ultrawide.
05:37It shoots in 4K60 and then has a 11.1 ultrawide selfie cam that shoots in 4K30.
05:43Image quality is still top-notch, especially for this price point.
05:47I've got to tell anybody, if you're serious about, like, taking pictures on a budget, this is the easy, the best way to go.
05:54It just takes some really great shots, really good dynamic range, great color.
05:58Google's image processing is excellent.
06:00Still really good low-light photography as well, too.
06:03There's nothing that I don't like about the cameras on here.
06:06It just takes some great shots, really good color.
06:09It does great with skin tones as well, too.
06:11And Google's editor is also pretty good as well, too, something that I really like.
06:15It's just a fantastic camera.
06:17I've used Google cameras for my YouTube shorts as well, too, so I think the video is solid.
06:23But I still think Apple or Samsung does video, when it comes to the entire system, a little bit better.
06:30But I like the color on the Pixel video, so that's why I use it.
06:34But, I mean, the shots on here are just beautiful, guys.
06:37So if you need a really good camera on a budget, you can honestly pick any of the Pixel phones.
06:42Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, around $200.
06:46When you want something bigger, you know, 6 Pro, easily will give you fantastic image quality.
06:53All right, so let's go ahead and talk about battery life.
06:56So this is not a super strong spot for this phone.
06:59Even when it was brand new, the battery life has always been just kind of average on this phone.
07:04It was never above average.
07:05And I think the standby time also isn't that impressive on this phone.
07:10Now, Google has improved on battery life with the newer phones.
07:13But, yeah, the battery life is just OK on this device.
07:16You do have a 5,000 mAh battery on here.
07:19It's got 23-watt charging on here.
07:22And then you also have 23-watt wireless charging.
07:24And it also does have reverse wireless charging as well.
07:27Screen on time, even like brand new, it was still kind of like around 6 hours of screen on time.
07:33So, yeah, that's why I said average.
07:35If you game on here, you definitely would be charging this device for the most part.
07:39So battery life is just not, you know, it's not excellent.
07:42It's just kind of like OK.
07:44But, yeah, I really like the Pixel 6 Pro for anybody who's looking for a camera.
07:49You want some really good clean software, the Google experience.
07:52I think this phone is crazy fast.
07:54When the phone first came out, it had like a lot of like glitches and lag and stuff like that.
08:00But like right here, it would lag a lot on the Google Now page.
08:04Just scrolling and stuff like that so you see how smooth it is now.
08:07And all the little bugs and stuff, little crashes, I just don't really have those anymore.
08:12So you can see just how smooth this phone is.
08:14So, yeah, so I absolutely really like the Pixel 6 Pro.
08:18Crazy cheap, very low investment, and I think a really good quality all around.
08:23So what do you guys think?
08:25Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
