00:20Benji Durango in detail.
00:22The four-day Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk with Action in the PICC was a success in the Philippines.
00:32Attendance was seen by 2024 APMC-DRR during the last meeting of 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.
00:404,000 delegates from 36 countries visited Asia-Pacific.
00:45The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk with Action will start on Monday.
00:51This is where the importance of the media in delivering information whenever there is a disaster.
00:56The media is a vital partner on this resilience journey.
00:59We encourage our media partners to pay special attention to the discussions in the conference
01:09and their coverage will ensure our resonance of the messages and the key points that we agree upon.
01:20On Tuesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. opened the conference.
01:26As we chart our course to a more inclusive and resilient Asia-Pacific,
01:31let us draw inspiration from the stories of resilience that are embedded in our region.
01:37This conference presents us with a grand opportunity to send a powerful message to the world.
01:44The Asia-Pacific is not only prepared to overcome the trials of tomorrow,
01:49we are also ready to lead in disaster risk reduction and climate action.
01:55On Wednesday, the conference continued.
01:58Through discussions on the four key priorities of the Sendai Framework,
02:03the seven global targets were also discussed to prepare for the pandemic and climate change in the Asia-Pacific.
02:10The delegates praised the Filipino hospitality in hosting APMC-DRR 2024.
02:16I really appreciate the support given to the at-risk communities to attend the conference.
02:22Apart from the grand room and all the foods, I can see that the Philippines is hosting the guests very, very well.
02:34I would really say that the Philippines is a guiding light.
02:38The United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction is happy because a large part of the Philippines is in the last stage of its work.
02:46This has been an extremely gratifying experience and it's such an honor to be able to host such a broad range as well as a deep range of knowledge.
02:57Five important directions were formed in this four-day disaster conference.
03:02But I have to say that all of this was very nicely prefaced by the Honorable President's address on day one.
03:12That really set the stage and that really encouraged us to raise the ambition and think about disaster risk reduction in newer, bolder ways.
03:25This kind of assistance is a big deal because the Philippines' access to disaster response is expanding due to the help of other countries.
03:34Certainly, there is no doubt that we can benefit from greater knowledge exchange, greater technical assistance.
03:41There is a need for us to also refine and develop our skills in terms of preparing projects so that they, in fact, are impactful.
03:52At the same time, they will receive the kind of strategic support we have from international partners.
03:57Benji Durango for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
