00:00Welcome to Mirrors Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best parodies
00:10of Scooby-Doo!
00:1110.
00:12Aqua Teen Hunger Force 100
00:29When Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad are sent into an alternate universe in which they
00:34become the Aqua Unit Patrol Squad, it's clear that the Scooby-Doo vibes are there.
00:39First there's the classic orange and green font style, but what really enhances this
00:44parody is the theme song.
00:53Besides that, Aqua Teen Hunger Force adds some creativity with the name, Meaty Meaty
00:58Moo, as well as its own unique version of the Mystery Machine.
01:15It's on screen briefly, but if you pay close attention, you can see the words, The Danger
01:21Cart.
01:249.
01:26Psych!
01:27In Plain Fright
01:28It's not easy incorporating references to an animated series into a live-action show,
01:39without going too over the top, but that's what the detective comedy-drama Psych manages
01:44to do.
01:56The series integrates Scooby-Doo references in several episodes.
02:00While it perhaps could be viewed more as a homage at times, there are moments where it
02:04could better be classified as a parody.
02:12In the episode, In Plain Fright, Sean and Gus find themselves immersed in a mystery
02:17case at a theme park.
02:19There are explicit allusions to Scooby-Doo, along with the same spooky atmosphere and
02:24silly energy.
02:318.
02:35Johnny Bravo, Bravo Doobie Doo
02:45This Scooby-Doo-inspired episode of Johnny Bravo deserves a Bravo itself, after Johnny's
02:50car breaks down, he needs a lift.
02:53Luckily, a van comes by and stops for him.
02:56Inside is none other than the Scooby Gang.
02:58At first, Scoob, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma are silent as Johnny explains the problem.
03:15But when they hear spooky house, they're all in.
03:21As they arrive at Johnny's destination, his aunt's mansion, the episode continues to poke
03:27fun at the gang's obsession with all things spooky.
03:367.
03:40Saturday Night Live, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sabrina Carpenter
03:48It should be no surprise to see the home of parody skits, Saturday Night Live, make an
03:53appearance here.
03:54The season 49 finale featured Sabrina Carpenter as Daphne, guest host Jake Gyllenhaal as Fred,
04:01and the SNL cast members Mikey Day and Sarah Sherman as Shaggy and Velma.
04:06The costumes and wigs were spot on.
04:09If you're looking for a group Halloween costume idea, you're looking at it.
04:25The skit poked playful fun at the show's theme that people aren't always who they
04:30seem to be.
04:31In the process, it took the G-rated animated series and made it much less kid-friendly.
04:366.
04:41Family Guy, Various
04:50Of course, the all-time classic animated sitcom had to parody Scooby-Doo, and just once wouldn't
04:56be enough.
04:57Family Guy has featured several such scenes.
05:01For example, in the season 1 episode, I Never Met the Dead Man, we get to glimpse a TV airing
05:06a series called The Scooby-Doo Murder Files.
05:09Family Guy spoofs Scooby-Doo with the use of much darker, more violent language while
05:14describing the case.
05:20The crew's appearances are well-integrated into the Family Guy animation style.
05:25In other episodes, season 4's Deep Throats, Stewie randomly comes across the Scooby gang,
05:30and has to use musical means to get them to leave.
05:505.
05:51Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Shaggy Busted
05:55When it comes to Shaggy's personality, one trait that fans have strongly associated
06:08with him is stoner energy.
06:10Of course, this was never explicitly stated nor displayed in the original kid-friendly
06:15Scooby-Doo series.
06:17But leave it to the Adult Swim series Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law to fully bring that
06:22element into play.
06:24In the episode Shaggy Busted, Birdman takes on a case to defend Shaggy and Scooby after
06:29they're arrested for driving under the influence.
06:44He has his work cut out for him as their constant hunger and giggles don't exactly attest to
06:49their innocence.
06:50The Prosecutor's hilarious slideshow doesn't help their case either.
07:114.
07:12The Venture Brothers, Viva Los Muertos
07:20The Scooby gang is reimagined as the sketchy Groovy Gang in the Adult Swim series The Venture
07:27Brothers.
07:28In the season 2 episode, Viva Los Muertos, they decide to investigate the Venture compound.
07:35The Groovy Gang members are basically extreme versions of the characters we know and love,
07:40with a pointed resemblance to certain infamous real-life criminals.
07:54They're into much darker humour, Val less smokes now, and Scooby refuses to reveal to
07:59anyone besides Shaggy that he can speak, which has apparently driven Shaggy mad.
08:09Those do not look like Scooby Snacks either.
08:233.
08:24Supernatural, Scooby-Natural
08:40Praised for its nostalgic humour, Scooby-Natural gave fans of both Scooby-Doo and Supernatural
08:47a treat.
08:48With its spooky mysteries, the world of Scooby-Doo is a perfect fit for Monster Hunter's Sam,
08:53Dean, and Castiel.
08:54The three are sucked into a TV, specifically into the Scooby-Doo episode, A Night of Fright
08:59is No Delight.
09:08The episode pokes fun at Shaggy's enormous appetite, and they team up with Mystery Inc.
09:13on a case.
09:25When the Supernatural trio react to a shocking discovery, their responses do a great job
09:29of imitating the Scooby Gang.
09:352.
09:40Futurama, Saturday Morning Fun Pit
09:47Bendy Boo and the Mystery Crew is what they call the gang in Futurama's Scooby-Doo parody.
09:54What's great about this episode is that, while it reimagines the famous cartoon that
09:58came before it, Futurama maintains its own distinctive animation style.
10:09There's no better example of that than Robot Bender as Scooby.
10:13Futurama continues to spoof by poking fun at the gang's mystery fetish and Shaggy's
10:18food obsession.
10:28On the lookout for food, where else would they go other than a spooky-looking house?
10:33They mog Shaggy, implying he's baked.
10:36That would explain the munchies.
10:45Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:49South Park, Korn's groovy pirate ghost mystery.
10:53Parodies the Scooby Gang's navigation skills.
11:03Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back puts a funny adult spin on Scooby-Doo.
11:19Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, Various, pays homage to earlier versions of Scooby-Doo
11:25while mixing in satiric elements.
11:32Teen Titans Go!
11:33The Cruel Giggling Ghoul, pokes fun at Shaggy and Scooby's eating habits.

12:12This television special aired on Halloween.
12:15After the mystery machine picks up an animated Gary Coleman, things immediately go awry.
12:27Apparently Fred wasn't aware of the gas gauge.
12:30Luckily, Gary Coleman just so happens to have a container of gas on him.
12:35How handy!
12:36He has a spare tyre as well.
12:38It just gets funnier and funnier as the Scooby Gang tries to find excuses to stop at various
12:44spooky places.
12:51Night of the Living Doo humorously pokes fun at the excessive lengths the Scooby Gang go
12:56to to immerse themselves in spooky situations.
13:07The parody also involves a mystery, of course, which comically satires the crew's mystery
13:13obsession.
13:22Let us know in the comments which of these Scooby-Doo parodies you would like to watch.
