00:00Group of protesters in Sweden last week carried coffins on their heads, marching the streets,
00:06demanding an end to ongoing war in Gaza, Lebanon and for Israel to stop alleged killing of
00:12innocent children in the affected countries.
00:16The mock coffins carried by the protesters in Stockholm, Sweden were mainly that of children
00:21allegedly killed by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon.
00:25Israel has been in war with the Palestinian fighters, Hamas after the Hamas fighters invaded
00:31southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing more than a thousand of Israeli residents
00:37with another set of thousands injured and took away hundreds of other people as hostages.
00:43Israel has since responded with full military operation, causing huge devastation and humanitarian
00:49destructions in the Palestinian Gaza Strip with more than 40,000 people killed in exchange,
00:55according to Gaza Health Ministry.
00:58In late September, 2024, Israel extended its military operations to Lebanon, killing thousands
01:05of people which the Israeli authority claimed the attacks were targeted at Hezbollah members
01:11and leaders.
01:12Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters silently marched the streets while carrying coffins
01:17above their heads in Stockholm, Sweden, to show solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon.
01:24The protesters carried symbolic coffins as a part of their demonstration in memory of
01:29the nearly 17,000 Palestinian children who have been killed thus far, according to local
01:35media.
01:36Another group of protesters also in Malmö, Sweden, marched in support of Palestine and
01:42Lebanon, condemning Israeli aggression.
01:45Reuters had reported that Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg had accused German
01:52police of overly heavy-handed tactics in breaking up a pro-Palestinian camp ahead of
01:57her planned visit.
01:59Police dismantled the site in the western German city of Dortmund a day earlier after
02:04an announcement from Thunberg that she planned to go to the protest camp.
02:09Police said they would arrest me if I went there, Thunberg tweeted on Ex on Wednesday.
02:15All this just because the students had invited me to speak at their event, and I had been
02:21to a pro-Palestinian protest in Berlin the day before that police had stormed.
02:28Germany is threatening and silencing activists who speak out against the genocide and occupation,
02:33she said.
02:34Thunberg has repeatedly expressed her solidarity with Palestinians and accused Israel of genocide
02:41in recent months.
02:42Israel has strongly rejected such accusations after South Africa brought a case to the International
02:49Court of Justice last year accusing Israel of breaking the 1948 Genocide Convention.
02:56While preliminary hearings have already been held in the case, the court is expected to
03:01take years to reach a final decision.
03:04Dortmund officials said the decision was made, among other things, because Thunberg's appearance
03:10would probably have attracted more people to the protest camp than originally allowed.
03:16Police said they had taken down the camp, which had been in place for several months,
03:22in a peaceful manner, with several protesters present.
03:26Since the Hamas attack on Israel a year ago and with Israel's subsequent military action
03:31in the Gaza Strip, Thunberg has regularly attended pro-Palestinian rallies, Reuters
03:37stated.
