00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met
00:04Office. In contrast to the south, the north today will be mild, windy with some
00:10outbreaks of rain. Further south a chilly start, even one or two pockets of frost.
00:14Not a lot of sunshine around here, perhaps some haziness coming through but
00:19always some medium and high level clouds. Elsewhere outbreaks of rain will
00:22continue across Scotland as we head through the morning into the afternoon
00:26and some patchy rain and drizzle for the southern uplands as well as Pennine
00:30districts. A little rain coming in across Northern Ireland but the highest
00:33rainfall totals will be the North West Highlands. Gales across the far north and
00:37gustiness as that wind blows over the Grampians towards the east. Look at these
00:41temperatures though, 13 or 14 degrees Celsius for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:45Further south after a chilly start, 11 or 12 but mostly dry here, away from
00:50coastline of Wales where we could see some dampness through the day. Now
00:55through Wednesday evening and overnight and this weather front continues to
00:58bring outbreaks of rain. To the north the air is colder so we'll see gales as well
01:03as showers and further south always more in the way of clouds and we'll see some
01:08patchy rain and drizzle particularly for Northern England, northern and western
01:11parts of Wales and even further southeast a lot of clouds and the odd
01:15spit and spot of rain in the wind. But a much colder start to the day for
01:19Northern Scotland with some driving showers. This weather front here slowly
01:24pushes down towards Northern England, southern parts of Scotland as well as
01:28Northern Ireland as we head through the morning. These showers will continue and
01:32they'll have a wintry element in them as we head into the afternoon and evening
01:36time. Ahead of it always more cloud, perhaps one or two breaks allowing for
01:40some brighter weather and temperatures here will be on the mild side, 13 or 14
01:44degrees Celsius on Thursday but much colder as that cold air from the Arctic
01:48digs in through Thursday and into Friday. This cold front then clears down
01:53towards the south. Strongest winds across the Far East there and that's
01:56where we see some wintry showers and then an ingress of milder air slowly
02:00pushes in as we head through Saturday and into Sunday. Before that though some
02:05quiet weather, it will be cold with some hard frost but then eventually the mild
02:10air will win but it will be a slow process and I'll see you later.
